Right, lets get going!
100. Michelle - All This Time
To start us off, a song released in the first single-releasing week of the year! Michelle performed this really well on Pop Idol 2 and went on to have a big hit with it, making it one of the biggest selling singles of the year. However, her popularity hasn't lasted - and her legacy may end at No.100 on Oxy's Chart.
99. Keane - Everybody's Changing
This song began as one of my favourites of the year, but due to being overplayed, and paling in significance when compared to some of Keane's other releases, it has only made No.99 on the chart. However, with the immense amount of singles out this year, it's still done well to get this far and is somewhat a signature tune for when of the years' best new bands.
98. Raghav - Can't Get Enough
Well you can scrap that from the poll all... one of you who voted it. Yes, Raghav's solo debut only makes it to No.98 despite being one of the few singles I purchased this year. It still remains a very good song though and really introduced the Indian RnB that Jay Sean has "Stolen" (see what I did there?!
) to the UK Charts.
97. O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tei
It had to be somewhere, didn't it? O-Zone's mighty novelty tune just makes the top 100. It was a classic when it was out but it already sounds a little dated which is why it's no higher. What a chorus though... altogether now...!
96. Ronan Keating - She Believes (In Me)
In terms of what he's good at, this man never places a foot wrong. His ballads are his forte, and this one was no exception. A beautiful song, perhaps a bit similar to others of his, but sung very well and which did him plenty of favours chartwise.
95. Morrissey - First Of The Gang To Die
As far as I'm aware, our very own Hector is still with us. But thank God whoever this Hector is gave Morrissey the inspiration to write this song - his definite best in his reignited career, The Smiths frontman has produced some good songs but none quite as good at this.
94. Maroon 5 - This Love
When searching Maroon 5 on Amazon, I was shocked to find this single lowest down the list of bestsellers. Okay, its only one site, but when a song has been played so many times as this, it's hard to believe. This Love is a fantastic little ditty, but it was also a little overplayed to be much higher. A great kareoke tune, and Adam's vocals are great, the song still manages the top 100 of the year.
93. Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl?
My University jukebox tunes do vary. One is Elton's classic "Guess Thats Why They Call It The Blues", and another is Eric Prydz's recent chart topper. This wasn't one of them until I heard someone else put it on, and I was bopping away, realising I knew alot of the words and that this was in fact a fantastic tune. Rock on and all that.
92. Kristian Leontiou - Story Of My Life
No your eyes do not decieve you, this IS the fifth song in this segment alone that has appeared on the Rock Chart Playlist this year. While this, or any of the others, are hardly heavy, it is a fantastic easy listening pop-rock tune with Kristian's "male-dido" vocals sounding strong. A fantastic debut from one of Britains brightest stars?
91. Jennifer Lopez ft. R Kelly - Baby I Love U
At first I didn't like it. Then I loved it. Now I like it. Arguably one of Lopez's best singles, Baby I Love U was added to superbly by R.Kelly to make it into a club hit, and thats where I learned to love it. Fantastic stuff.
