Wow, great to see that you started your Top 100 of 2005, but...errr... :-? I was the first this year :P .I went for Green Day - Holiday, because I guess Kelly Clarkson won't receive a number 1 from you :D xox.

I think you're spot on Cornholio - it's between those two I predict, and maybe against my better judgement I joined you on Green Day

I predict Tori Amos just to be radically different, and I remember you had an obsession about her at the beginning of the year!

However I'd rather see Kelly Clarkson or Shiri Maimon at #1 8-)

I thought it would be Anastacia - Welcome To My Truth but then I realised that was last year.

Well I'm hoping Kelly will get no.1 from you out of that bunch even though Green Day would've been my second choice, it'll probably be your first.

202. Fatboy Slim - The Joker

We start off with 2 songs I just couldn't leave off but just missed my top 200 - one is the Steve Miller Band cover by Fatboy Slim, complete with cats in the video! :o The song was a huge hit for my chart in early 2005 but got old fast. Still I had to include it if only for the kitties!

Image
201. Usher - Caught Up

Usher was the king of the last two years with amazingly bland singles such as Burn and Yeah!, but for some reason Caught Up caught my attention and got me liking it!

Image
200. Brendan Benson - Cold Hands, Warm Heart

I was introduced to BB by MD (Matthew Dixon) when he was doing teh rock chart and I wondering who Brendan was. I discovered a fantastic musician with many tricks up his sleeve, and the song is one of them.

Image
199. Goldie Lookin Chain - You Knows I Love You

This is a carry-on from 2004, after I heard it on the chart show and not included it in last year's chart - brilliant piece of errr "hip hop"?

Image
198. Kaiser Chiefs - Modern Way

For the first of the indie in my chart are the Kaisers, whose recent hit Modern Way is another one of their great songs - but one is much higher ;)

Image
197. Sarah McLachlan - Push

Sarah ruled my 2004 chart with Fallen, Stupid and World On Fire but Push was a dissapointment - a bland one and that's why Sarah's last single from Afterglow lands at 197.

Image
196. Bon Jovi - Have A Nice Day

On the other hand, Bon Jovi's comeback single made masive waves because it was a fantastic single - and I agree that the single is great but there are 195 better!

Image
195. Beck - Girl

Now Beck is one of those people who are immensely popular in Israel but I never heard of, so when I listened to this summery track I started to see why he was so rated! He didn't release any follow-up but oh well - this really summarised summer.

Image
194. Interpol - Slow Hands

More indie now from Interpol who as far as I know didn't release anything following this, but this was one damn good single.

Image
193. Juliet - Avalon

Now for some dance, and one of the most sophisticated pieces of a genre which can have its glitches - Juliet released a song it was impossible to hate and everoyone was singing "you know I'd love you better" soon enough!

Image
192. Candee Jay - Lose This Feeling

This one, however, is a guilty entry of mine on the chart - just a fun piece of pop-dance

Image
191. Maximo Park - Going Missing

Moving on to Maximo Park and the only single I've heard of theirs this year. But still it was one good single which had me singing with it for ages - but as I said before there are 190 better.

Image
190. Gwen Stefani - Cool

The only Gwen single this year is Cool, a saccarine ballad that Gwen pulled off perfectly and with amazing production got another hit.

Image
189. Texas - Can't Resist

Texas came back this year with a completely different sound! Can't Resist, their second single, follows the slightly electronic route they chose and does it perfectly.

Image
188. Erasure - Here I Go Impossible Again

Talking about electronic - Erasure released some singles this year as well, this being the closing of their Nightbird album - two slices of pop well worth charting but this was the better side.

Image
187. Lady Sovereign - 9 To 5

Aaaah Lady Sov, one single of hers is much higher on the chart but the lovely 9 to 5 also deserves a mention ;)

Image
186. Britney Spears - Do Somethin'

Britney certainly was lazy musically this year, but this, the second single from her Greatest Hits collection was released early 2005 and notched up another hit for her.

Image
185. Backstreet Boys - Just Want You To Know

The BSB were written off by pretty much everyone till they blasted back on the scene with the gorgeous Incomplete, this, their second single was nowhere near as good but was still a good pop track.

Image
184. Girls Aloud - Wake Me Up

And now Girls Aloud, the biggest girlband on ukmix at the moment, get their first entry from their second album!

Image
183. KT Tunstall - Under The Weather

KT Tunstall is another one of the biggest newcomers of 2005, and very rightfully so! She mixes pop and indie perfectly and this is a good example

Image
182. Katie Melua - Just Like Heaven

Similiary to KT, Katie (:o) also makes chilled-back music about crying and China, both are higher btw ;)

Image
181. Mylo Vs Miami Sound Machine - Doctor Pressure

And to finish off - a dance TOON! This was a brilliant mash-up of Dr.Beat and Pressure and resulted in one of 2005's biggest dance tunes - dance!
These foolish games are tearing me apart

WICKED!
193. Juliet - Avalon
190. Gwen Stefani - Cool

OK:
201. Usher - Caught Up
199. Goldie Lookin Chain - You Knows I Love You
198. Kaiser Chiefs - Modern Way
195. Beck - Girl
189. Texas - Can't Resist
188. Erasure - Here I Go Impossible Again
186. Britney Spears - Do Somethin'
185. Backstreet Boys - Just Want You To Know

HORROR:
202. Fatboy Slim - The Joker (Video of the year though!)
196. Bon Jovi - Have A Nice Day
187. Lady Sovereign - 9 To 5
184. Girls Aloud - Wake Me Up
181. Mylo Vs Miami Sound Machine - Doctor Pressure (It's not really THIS bad, but I much preferred the 'original' 'Drop the Pressure')

I don't think I've heard the others bar KT and Katie which I can't say I like that much but which both should hopefully grow on me!

Argh @ Usher being in there, he's in my worst songs chart!

A smallish woo for that KT song & a woo for Mylo/Miami Sound Machine (am I the only one who didn't prefer the original Mylo tune, yet really loves the mashup?)...
Let's embrace the point of no return.

What a great start there :

202. Fatboy Slim - The Joker
198. Kaiser Chiefs - Modern Way
193. Juliet - Avalon
189. Texas - Can't Resist
185. Backstreet Boys - Just Want You To Know
183. KT Tunstall - Under The Weather
181. Mylo Vs Miami Sound Machine - Doctor Pressure

Gotta be honest - I wasn't expecting Juliet and Mylo to be in there!

my vote goes to Kelly Clarkson! Oh how we love our divas!

180. Audio Bullys - I'm In Love

Audio Bullys definately had one of their better years in 2005 with the beatiful Shot You Down which narrowly missed my chart and this awesome dance track. A few more singles like these and I might get the album :o

Image
179. Utada - You Make Me Want To Be A Man

Utada was scheduled to release this, her first UK single, sometime in mid-late 2005 but never did. Maybe it's a good thing since it would've probably come in at a nifty #200, but this electronic number is certainly unique.

Image
178. Jessica Simpson - These Boots Are Made For Walkin'

And after working out for hours on end, Jess wanted to show off and so she did in the video for this - I didn't complain :o Song's good too ;)

Image
177. Elton John - Turn The Lights Out When You Leave

Another comeback was the legend that is Elton John, with this single and it was quite a nice single but not one of his best - still, a great effort.

Image
176. Noise Next Door - Calender Girl

Yes, I love the Noise Next Door - there's one MORE single of theirs here! I tink they're fun

Image
175. Jem - Wish I

This is truly a summery release from Jem, even though it was released in winter :P Not one of the strongest tracks on the fantastic album but still a great one

Image
174. Babyshambles - Albion

I only recently started getting into the babies, but Albion is one heck of a song! To those who haven't heard, it's a very layed-back indie tune that gets me relaxed every time.

Image
173. Natasha Bedingfield - I Bruise Easily

The last release from Tash was this beautiful ballad accompanied by a gorgeous video, one of the better tracks by Sis Bedingfield.

Image
172. Route-1 feat. Jenny Frost - Crash Landing

Errr dance classic? Probably not. Fun? Sure 8-)

Image
171. Jamie Scott - Searching

Jamie showed a lot of promise with his last single 'Just' but slipped a bit with this one, although it was a great start to 2005

Image
170. Girls Aloud - See The Day

Girls Aloud attempted another Xmas ballad but I think this is far worse than last year's! Except for the great chorus it's quite bland but still - it's a good one

Image
169. Morcheeba - Wonders Never Cease

Aaah Morcheeba, another band who came in from the cold this year and boy did they ever - one of their best singles too this one - fantastic vocals.

Image
168. Cookie - Do It Again

Errr well Cookie were a flop girlband but I liked the song

Image
167. Missy Higgins - Scar

And this very talented Aussie lady gest in the chart with the awesome Scar - a singer/songwriter hit.

Image
166. Enya - Amarantine

Couldn't miss off Enya could I? She's a brilliant artist and vocalist but Amaratine was nothing special. Still - Enya ;)

Image
165. Lene Marlin - How Would It Be?

Another track that wasn't released was Finnish star Lene Marlin's one, and I thought it was a shame cause it was a real pop/rock "stomper" - oh well.

Image
164. Katie Melua - I Cried For You

Now the second side of Katie's forthcoming single, and a much better one too!

Image
163. Roni Size and Beverley Knight - No More

This Garage number was released very early in the year and instantly won me over especially with Bev on vocals but I grew out of it quickly... still a massive number I think

Image
162. James Blunt - Goodbye My Lover

One of two James hits in the chart, this is another great xmas tune from Bluntie.

Image
161. Pop! - Serious

And a silly little pop tune from a silly little pop band to boot!
These foolish games are tearing me apart

Jem and James Blunt stand out for me as particularly strong songs there!

Pop!, Noise Next Door and Babyshambles stand out for other reasons.

Amazing:
170. Girls Aloud - See The Day
166. Enya - Amarantine
165. Lene Marlin - How Would It Be? (she's Norwegian not Finnish as far as I know!)
167. Missy Higgins - Scar
162. James Blunt - Goodbye My Lover

Good:
175. Jem - Wish I
174. Babyshambles - Albion
169. Morcheeba - Wonders Never Cease
164. Katie Melua - I Cried For You

Bearable:
180. Audio Bullys - I'm In Love
177. Elton John - Turn The Lights Out When You Leave

Awful (as in why Maaian why?):
178. Jessica Simpson - These Boots Are Made For Walkin'
176. Noise Next Door - Calender Girl
173. Natasha Bedingfield - I Bruise Easily
172. Route-1 feat. Jenny Frost - Crash Landing
168. Cookie - Do It Again
163. Roni Size and Beverley Knight - No More
161. Pop! - Serious

I don't know those Utada & Jamie Scott ones. We're doing pretty well anyway!
