Aye - go on, let's at least get a poll up and running for this one. Will start over the weekend, probably going through the first 100 by Sunday night (assuming I've managed to order that many by then.

So, what's my favourite song of the year?

Yes, I know one artist appears three times, but don't let that make you assume it's guaranteed to be him. It might be... but then again it might not be... even I'm not 100% sure yet as to which song is going to be top of my list!

I think it'll be You're Beautiful vs. Wires, and I'm a go for the latter!

One of James Blunt songs, probably You're Beautiful.

I must admit that although I did like "You're Beautiful" enough to buy the CD single, I am still a bit surprised that it was as hugely successful as it was.

I voted for Amarillo, by the way. I don't think our musical tastes overlap too much Matthew, none of those records would even feature in my Top 100 of the year...except for "Fix You"

Interesting choices - I've gone with "Goodbye My Lover".

I was tempted to vote the Kaiser Chiefs given how long they have been in the upper reaches of your personal chart though.

Difficult choice up there :( You liked a lot Tony Christie but also Mark Joseph's "Lady Lady"... Anyway, I chose "You're Beautiful" even if I'm pretty sure is not gonna be this one  xox.

I chose Daniel Powter, basically at random, but I have the impression you like it a lot too.

Isn't it like way too early for this?

Anyway my vote goes to James Blunt's best song. No surprises which that is.

Okay - let's begin! 8-)

Honourable mentions here go to Morcheeba's "Wonders Never Cease", Nickelback's "Photograph" and Katie Melua's "I Cried For You".

So - on into the top 200.

200. Tears - Refugees
Very nice song, reminiscent of the old Suede stuff, but not quite as good.

199. Helen Love - Wigwambam
First of four entries for Helen and the girls, and the first of three from the Bubblegum Killers EP. I simply love the original of this song as well!

198. Helen Love - Better Pop Your Bubblegum
Bubblegum killers? Well popping your bubblegum is killing it I guess. Second song from the EP bows out straight after the first.

197. Black Velvets - 3345
A very cool song from a band for whom this was their only top 40 hit. We've had loads of random bands come and go this year, but this one stood out for me.

196. Madeleine Peyroux - You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go
Stevie will be pleased, but probably not THAT pleased, as "Don't Wait Too Long" misses my list and the other Madeleine track here just barely scrapes in. She's a really nice singer though.

195. Basement Jaxx - Oh My Gosh
The definition of a kitsch fun dance song this one. It's just such a cute tale and one that is just simply awwwwwww.

194. New Order featuring Ana Matronic - Jetstream
Shame this flopped, as it's one of New Order's greatest ever songs if you ask me.

193. Max Graham vs. Yes - Owner Of A Lonely Heart
Now this is how to make a looped house track work really well. A wise choice of track to use, and a really well crafted song.

192. Eminem - Ass Like That
Oh dear Marshall? What on EARTH? Needless to say the three phenomenally good Eminem songs will all be very high on my list, but as for this one... :o

191. Maximo Park - Apply Some Pressure
Aye - I've not totally got the Maximo Park hype, but this one's grown on me enough for a top 200 entry.

190. Akon - Pot Of Gold
I've tracked down this new Akon single, and whilst it's not a patch on "Lonely" or the brilliant "Locked Up", it's better than "Belly Dancer", so woo!

189. Athlete - Tourist
First of four Athlete entries, and this is VERY low for Athlete! I just haven't been as impressed with album No. 2, and this title track in particular wasn't a great single choice.

188. Lucie Silvas - The Game Is Won
Big ballad time from Ms Silvas now - really good song, shame it flopped so spectacularly!

187. Avril Lavigne - He Wasn't
Another bad single choice here. Her other songs have all done much better in my year charts.

186. Corrs - Old Town
Awww... poor Corrs :( . They try just a little bit of going back to their roots and everyone deserts them!

185. Beverley Knight - Keep This Fire Burning
Really anthemic soul-pop song now - a very pleasant effort from Ms Knight

184. Delta Goodrem and Brian McFadden - Almost Here
Great ballad from Delta and Brian here, timed conveniently with their relationship. Hmmmm - me, suspicious? Never!

183. Mylo vs. Miami Sound Machine - Dr Pressure
Ohhhh - another good fun dance track here, no?

182. Soul Central featuring Kathy Brown - Strings Of Life (Stronger On My Own)
Another anthemic dance song here - really powerful vocals help it into my top 200.

181. Subways - No Goodbyes
and a great little indie song to end this 20 off on. Not a big Subways fan, but this new song is cool!

Good start to the countdown. The only one I would place a bit higher would be Mylo vs. Miami Sound Machine - Dr Pressure. It's a fun dance tune.

No huge losses there (as all the songs there are average at best), but MEH for that awful "Ass Like That"! Thankfully it's already crashed out :P

Wow :o

Bry - I believe that's the first time you've actually commented on a song on one of my charts that you've disagreed with :o Cheers for that, but it genuinely came as a surprise.
