I'm a later one on my Top 150 charts... I do it just after Christmas. However, to fit the spirit of the lists, I'll post my poll now. It's very unlikely my #1 will change in the next 30 days...

I have feeling it's gonna comedown to Madonna and Kelly. Two very good choices

Difficult, but I went for Gorillaz... Don't know why, but I guess is one of those songs you like a lot, view that Fountain Of Wayne is impossible to be your #1... xox.

Thanks for the replies!!!

Let the chart begin!

Top 150 of 2005: 150-126

150. “Twisted Transistor” – Korn

Hip-hop meets rock in this now long running band. Their biggest hit on my chart was "Got The Life" in 1999.

149. “Wasteland” – 10 Years

New band and one-hit wonder (so far). It's a straight out rock tune.

148. “Where Are You” – Our Lady Peace

Our Lady Peace hit it big on my chart in 2002 with "Somewhere Out There". This one's just inside 150.

147. “The Clincher” – Chevelle

Chevelle are Christian rockers who aren't afraid to rock hard. They also have a melodic element, present in this tune.

146. “Bat Country” – Avenged Sevenfold

Huge here in LA, this indie track gets more catchy with each listen.

145. “Happens All The Time” – Cold

Once booed off the stage when they toured with Weezer, Cold have had a few hits on my chart in the 00's.

144. “Little Sister” – Queens Of The Stone Age

Queens of the Stone Age returned in a big way early in the year. This was the only big hit.

143. “Rich Girl” – Gwen Stefani

One of three Gwen tracks in the 150, this one didn't strike me as well as the other two.

142. “Dakota” – Stereophonics

Thanks go to UKMIX for this one. A band I'd like to get to know better.

141. “Speed Of Sound” – Coldplay

Perhaps a bit low for this one. Coldplay have never really been my thing. They do have one more track to come and you can all guess what it is.

140. “Bullet Proof Skin” – Institute

Another straight out rock tune. Another one-hit wonder.

139. “Blue Orchid” – The White Stripes

First single from the White Stripes new CD. The other one ranks higher, much higher.

138. “Hypnotize” – System Of A Down

SOAD isn't for everyone. Their tracks are hit and miss for me. This one was a minor hit.

137. “The Guitar Man” – Cake

Remake of a Bread tune by Cake here. They are just a great, wry pop band.

136. “Don’t Tread On Me” – 311

311 have a very distinct style on firm display here. Not as high ranking as a few other tracks by the band, but they make the 150 safely.

135. “Take Me” – Papa Roach

Papa Roach hit the big time with "Last Resort" in 2000. They are still gojng in 2005, if barely.

134. “Save Me” – Shinedown

Shinedown had a big hit on my chart last year with "45". This one comes in may places lower.\

133. “Futures” – Jimmy Eat World

Jimmy Eat World just keep putting out fun tunes. I suspect they'll do it again in 2006.

132. “Pure” – Orgy

Orgy came to fame with a New Order cover. They haven't matched that success, but still float along on my chart.

131. “Mercy Me” – Alkaline Trio

Alkaline Trio has another bigger hit higher up in my countdown. This was the follow-up.

130. “Rebellion (Lies)” – Arcade Fire

2005 was a good year for Arcade Fire. They also have a bigger hit coming up later.

129. “Lift Me Up” – Moby

Nice song by Moby, the movie soundtrack king of the 90's. His biggest chart hit for me remains "Southside".

128. “I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor” – Arctic Monkeys

Another track I owe to UKMIX. Hasn't really caught on in the states yet.

127. “Count On Me” – Default

"Wasting My Time" was Default's biggest hit. Yes, they still are going in 2005.

126. “Galvanize” – The Chemical Brothers

Chemical Brothers have now been spinning out the music for over a decade. Kudos to them for a great track here.

125-101 tomorrow.

129. “Lift Me Up” – Moby
128. “I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor” – Arctic Monkeys

These are the songs I like or listened and appreciated. You are listening to a lot of rock stuff  Now, I'm happy you like Stereophonics, and maybe you'll put them higher next time :) Very low positions also for "Galvanize" :o , "Lift Me Up" :( and "Rich Girl" You liked "the pther two" from Gwen better? Which? The banana one? I liked it too :P xox.

Thanks for the replies... I know many, myself included, are all "chart"ed out.

Today 125-101:

125. “Better Now” – Collective Soul

Collective Soul enter their second decade on my chart with this one. Their biggest hit for me remains "The World I Know."

124. “Forever” – Vertical Horizon

Another group which had a big hit on my chart, "Everything You Want" in 2000. They continued in a minor way in 2005.

123. “Be Yourself” – Audioslave

Made up of Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and three members of Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave released their sophomore effort in 2005. This is one of their better songs.

122. “Best Of You” – Foo Fighters

Dave Grohl just keeps doing it. His music is more accessible than much of Nirvana's work was. Here is another example.

121. “Jessie’s Girl” – Frickin’ A

Huh? What is this? A remake of Rick Springfield's 1981 #1? Indeed. Not nearly as good as the original, but that tune carries the day here some.

120. “Welcome Home” – Coheed & Cambria

Coheed & Cambria had a huge hit on my chart last year with the immensely catchy "A Favor House Atlantic". This one is not nearly as good, but still reaches #120.

119. “Closest Thing To Heaven” – Tears For Fears

Ah, Roland Orzabal & Curt Smith. They've been going at it, off and on, since the early 80's. Very Beatlesesque they are.

118. “This Is How A Heart Breaks” – Rob Thomas

One of two Rob Thomas hits in my 2005 chart, this one will probably be higher in a few years as I get to know it better.

117. “A Lifetime” – Better Than Ezra

The band that gave us "Good" in 1995 also reaches a second decade with this comeback. I wonder if there is a band named Ezra out there that they are "better" than?

116. “Wasted” – Goldfinger

Most of you probably don't know Goldfinger, but they were an underground indie band in the 90's who reached the big time in 1996 with the eye candy happy video for "Here In Your Bedroom". The music is pop-punk.

115. “She Said” – Unwritten Law

Most famous for the song the lead wrote for his daughter "Cailin", Unwritten Law have been churning our great records since the late 90's.

114. “Stand Up” – Trapt

Trapt hit the jackpot in 2003 with a series of rock hits. With this one, that string may be over. It flopped on the radio.

113. “Lights And Sounds” – Yellowcard

Yellowcard is a pseudo-emo band that had a big 2004. This one comes from their sophomore effort.

112. “Banquet” – Bloc Party

This is a great song by a 2005 newcomer. Our local station played it like crazy early in the year.

111. “Nice” – Duran Duran

What can one say about Simon Le Bon and the gang? 25 years and still ticking. Amazing.

110. “Drive Away” – Gratitude

One-hit wonder so far, another rock tune here.

109. “Attack” – 30 Seconds To Mars

Ditto.

108. “Falling” – Staind

I'm a huge fan of Aaron Lewis. Staind are my fourth favorite current band behind Everclear, Weezer and The Killers. They have two songs much higher up.

107. “Not Now” – Blink 182

I can't tell for sure, but Blink seems to have turned religious on this tune. I have to read the lyrics to be sure. It comes from their greatest hits CD. The band may be done.

106. “Question!” – System Of A Down

Another SOAD hit. They still have one more to come. They have taken a major stand against the war in Iraq on their current CD. Their song that is much higher is the best expression of that sentiment.

105. “All These Things That I’ve Done” – The Killers

One of two Killers tracks in my Top 150 of 2005. "Somebody Told Me" and "Mr. Brightside" were in my Top 10 of 2004. The band hails from Vegas.

104. ”Blow It Out” – The Features

One hit wonder here again. This is a more fun rock tune of 2005.

103. “Bleeding Heart Baby” – Head Automatica

This one is on the softer side of the rock spectrum. I'm surprised it did not cross over.

102. “Finding Out True Love Is Blind” – Louis XIV

I saw this tune on several charts this past month. It is immensely catchy and may be the sort of song that ages well. We'll see. The female sections are the best part of the song!

101. “Girl” – Beck

One of two Beck tunes in the chart. He's been charting since 1994's classic "Loser".

Top 100 coming up next!
