The time has come once again...

Last year I wrote:Just like last time (and every year actually), my year-end chart contains songs that may have not been released as singles; in fact some of them may have not been released within the year at all.
It merely represents the songs I loved the most during the previous 12 months and started to like within that period, or shortly before.

Here is a rough list of the contenders for my top 10 list - basically my favourite songs this year in alphabetical order.

Antony and the Johnsons - Hope there's someone
Arcade fire - Neighborhood #2 (Laika)
Arcade fire - Neighborhood #3 (Power out)
Axwell - Feel the vibe
Benassi Bros. ft. Naan - Rocket in the sky
Kate Bush - Nocturn
Mariah Carey - We belong together
Carpark north - Human
Christophe - DaDa song pt.1
Erasure - Don't say you love me
Faz ft. Djan - Falling in love
Fischerspooner - Never win / (Benny Benassi dub)
Freeform five - No more conversations (Richard X remix)
Alex Gaudino & Jerma present Lil' love - Little love
Gerling - Hot computer
Juliet - Avalon
Madonna - Hung up
Motocycle - Around you (Gabriel & Dresden remix)
Ollie - All the richer
Povia - I bambini fanno "Oh"
Royksopp - Only this moment
Soul Seekerz - Turn me upside down
Soulshaker ft. Lorraine Brown - Hypnotic erotic games
TATU - Liudi invalidi
Telepopmusik - Into everything
Twoface - Fire in your eyes (Ay ay)
Robbie Williams - Tripping

I still have no idea which ones will make it in, but you can expect a little promo video like last time at some point in the near future. 8-)

Wow, there's no less than 15 songs I don't know there!!! I must be very musical illiterate...

From those I know, woo for Robbie, Madonna, Arcade Fire and (I'd never thought I'd say this...) Mariah.
Let's have a second referendum

Woo! Povia 8-)

Will this be a usual top 10? I'd like it if it were a bigger coutdown as you've got a unique taste y'know!

I really like the fact your music taste is very unique.

There are some awesome songs in that list that I'd love to see make the top 10.

Arcade Fire, Madonna and Benassi Bros. are my favourites there.

Ah, George, as always, such unique taste. So many songs I've never heard. Woo for Madonna, of course. Have to listen to that Erasure track!

Bummed that you won't do a longer chart.

Too bad Darren Hayes - So beautiful didn't make your final list :(

My guesses for your no.1 are:
Madonna 8-)
Mariah
Robbie

Those are the ones that stand out

Probably cos it was only #1 for a week, didn't hang around long enough to make an impact - woo for the Roguies anyway!

Ahh, cheers all of you :D

Well, this year's promo video is ready and you can find it here. (4.1 mb)

Edit:
The link above is apparently defective, so here's a new one. (a big thanks to Corny for the site)

The sound quality is worse than last year I'm afraid. Stupid Wind0ws M0vie Maker was just... acting stupid. :x

Also, I couldn't find a pic of the Soul Seekerz, so I used Tim's pic of his promo copy - hope he won't mind

Fantastic video there George! I never though you liked that much the song that you have as a number 1... I'm quite happy then that it's inside my virtual shop chart history
Great songs you chose for your chart...and yeah!, cheers for the link! xox.

Let me make clear that the order of the songs is purely alphabetical by the artist and that this is not my year end chart - that will be counted down soon. :)

The chart is ready. :D

I had trouble compiling it because I first made a chart based on the performance of each song on my weekly chart and I was not satisfied with the result. Needless to say the final order (including #1) is a little different.

I decided to extend my chart by 10 places this time and I also decided to include a song I've grown to like a lot lately, but hadn't included in my initial list.

The countdown shall commence shortly.

Peak positions are mentioned in brackets.

20 Robbie Williams - Tripping (3)

Image

A change in style for Robbie and an almost irritating falsetto made this a unique song. The instrumental outro is pure bliss.

19 Madonna - Get together (1)

Image

So this is the song I was referring to earlier. Stuart Price has done a brilliant work with the compression filter on this one, while Madonna's vocals fit perfectly. Not an outstanding performance by any means, neither are the lyrics anything special really, but the result is quite atmospheric and I'd love to see this released as a single - which probably won't happen.
