280 01 11 2009 02 A NIGHT LIKE THIS Caro Emerald
269 01 11 2008 05 POKER FACE Lady GaGa
268 01 12 2000 12 MY HEART BEATS LIKE A DRUM ATC
266 04 08 1992 09 SOMEBODY DANCE WITH ME DJ Bobo

Caro Emerald is great, "Poker Face" among GaGa's best, "My Heart Beats Like A Drum" is almost as good as ATC's other big hit, "Around The World". "Somebody Dance With Me" samples Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me", I guess the latter won't appear on your chart?

Those are the highest-ranking songs from both of these artists. Lady GaGa makes eight appearances in the top 1000, while September is also at 647 with "Can't Get Over".

No - back in the mid-80s, that one didn't do anything for me. In contract, the Swiss singer had eight top forty entries in my chart - including "Keep On Dancin'", "There Is A Party" and "Shadows Of The Night", at 605, 770 and 799 respectively.

Indeed - the total points scored are really not very far apart, despite quite a difference in the overall ranking. The only UK success for the multi-national group is still a few days away (I think its approximate position may already have been revealed in one of the Retro forum chart threads!)

Three more still to come from Modern Talking - two of which really are very high in the list!

All the annual charts are based on the earliest release anywhere (even if as an album track only). This one from Caro Emerald had already charted in the Netherlands as a single before the end of 2009.

Seven other tracks from her exceptional album have reached my chart since then - and three of the others are in the top 1000. "You Don't Love Me" is at 463 (and still in the current month's chart, so could go higher), "Stuck" is at 571, and "That Man" is at 684.

I have a feeling that you will especially like one of the tracks appearing in this next update.....

There are several instrumentals within tonight's update - but the two from the Netherlands are unfortunately not available on YouTube. And I also had to omit the still-elusive second part of the "German Hit Connection" - but could there be better news, even a "premiere" on this thread, when its first part comes up later on.....?

"Wish You Were Here" was a huge hit for Rednex in Germany. While they were one-hit wonders in the UK with "Cotton Eye Joe", they had three German number ones, the last one in the year 2000 with "Spirit Of The Hawk".

Both "Stereo Love" and "Titanium" are among the best songs from the past 4 years.

Indeed - I don't think the other two were even released in the UK! I was rather less impressed with the last one, but I still bought it:

Yes - as noted above, the first topped my 2009 list. And, although my 2011 chart can't be finalised until all 2011 releases have dropped out, the second could finish up not much lower than the fourth position it's in at the moment.

I think Mark95 feels that it should be higher in the all time list - but it's my favourite of all his work:

Not bad and I think I enjoy it more than the Cotton Eye one now.

262 03 10 2009 01 STEREO LOVE Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina

Love this.

246 03 12 2003 08 OBSESION Aventura

Was this released here at all? It was the last Eurohit I remember being huge before moving to the UK.

245 03 12 1992 08 ALL THAT SHE WANTS Ace of Base

Quite rightly a worldwide smash, my iPod played it the other day while on the tube and it brightened up my morning

244 02 08 1995 06 SHUT UP (AND SLEEP WITH ME) Sin With Sebastian

Always found this very annoying.

243 01 08 1992 07 HAPPY NATION Ace of Base

From the same debut album, I bought it.

242 01 09 2000 11 WITH MY OWN EYES Sash!
241 01 09 2001 05 WILL I Ian Van Dahl

These two are a bit average IMO.

239 01 10 2004 06 I LIKE IT Narcotic Thrust
238 01 11 1994 06 RIGHT IN THE NIGHT Jam & Spoon featuring Plavka

Not these two, though, especially the former

237 01 11 2000 10 CASTLES IN THE SKY Ian Van Dahl

Lots of Eurodance in this bunch!!

235 01 12 2004 04 LA CAMISA NEGRA Juanes

Loved this one too, heard it on holiday in Vienna for the first time.

234 01 13 2000 09 WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? Baha Men

Very catchy, I had a spaniel puppy when this was huge and she went barking mad whenever I played the song.

233 01 13 2006 06 STARS ARE BLIND Paris Hilton

Hmmmm, she should make more naked videos and less music...

232 05 09 2000 08 I TURN TO YOU Melanie C

Her best by miles.

Its original release date did - like several others included here! - but it reached my chart some years later, when I discovered it and managed to get a copy!

I'm not sure - I don't think it was, although I did once hear it played in the Irish chart show. Maybe it was released there, but without becoming a hit.

In tonight's new update, the "one-hit wonders" outnumber the rest.....

What about "Nothing In This World"?

"Happy Nation" is my least favourite song from your Ace Of Base list.

Favourites:
- Always Have, Always Will
- The Sign
- C'est La Vie (Always 21)

Pet Shop Boys :P

Any boybands from 90s ?
Take That, Boyzone, maybe even Westlife ?

"Poker Face" is incredible, pure Pop brilliance. It's definitely among Gaga's best songs to date. "Titanium" was my #2 song of 2011 which speaks volumes about my love for it. I still spin it every now and again when I feel like I need to be motivated or feel invincible. "On and On" is alright but "Release Me" is Agnes's best song for me. "Who Let The Dogs Out?" was overplayed and overexposed in it's day but I quite like it anyway and "Make You Feel My Love" is the best song from Adele's 19.
Aretha Franklin was an angel. Her voice helped lift our spirits and at times gave us the soundtrack to cope with our pain.

What about "Nothing In This World"?
It was my Record of the Month in November 2006 - but didn't improve on its chart debut:

Two more Records of the Month - May and December 2009! "Release Me" isn't far away from the top 400, certainly a lot closer than her third and only other hit:

Take That, Boyzone, maybe even Westlife ?

This is the only track from them in the top 400 - but they make a further eleven appearances lower down my all-time chart.....

Both by artists included in the "one hit wonders" I referred to - although Adele did have one other breaker that didn't make it into the top forty:

I seem to recall mentioning on a number of occasions - probably most recently when they first appeared in the top 400 - that they had six number ones in my chart.....but I've just done a recount. Adding the only one you didn't highlight here:

0748 01 06 1999 13 C'EST LA VIE (ALWAYS 21)

means that they actually had seven number ones!!! :o

In just under five hours' time, the half-way stage is reached - with six plus minutes of orchestral brilliance getting the top 200 underway!

I remember them having a huge hit in Germany with a remake of Queen's "Who Wants To Live Forever". However, the remakes that followed including this one and a version of Abba's "One Of Us" didn't succeed at all in the German charts.
