Thanks for the replies, now moving on to 2002 and a chart which I lost when my PC broke in 2003, but I recently found written on a piece of paper.

I'd made a video for that year as well, but that's lost too. Oh well...

2002 then, a good year on a personal level. I would spend ages tracking down songs on the net, waiting for ages to download them. Those were the good old dial-up days. Not.

10 ТАТУ - Простые движения (2002)

Discovered on:
WinMX

2002 was the year I got into TATU. Really into them though. I got involved with someone who knew russian and I learned how to read and write the cyrillic alphabet as well  Anyway, this is one of my fave TATU songs, it has aged really well. Somewhat different is the version used in the controversial, but otherwise excellent video.

For me this is their signature song. A powerful scream for independence and personal freedom. Excellent vid directed by their manager.

07 Каролина & Новоградска - Ајде Да Летаме (2001)

Discovered on:
Audiogalaxy

I loved Karolina's eurovision entry that year so much that I started looking for other songs of hers. So I came across this little gem.

I have to admit loving this song very much. Whenever it was played in the George I was in the habit of singing along on the "They're Not Gonna Get Us" parts of the chorus in the same key as the singer - something that would leave my vocal cords in agony, and me almost totally hoarse, for the next day or so.

Just thinking back makes my throat sore!!!!

06 Lasgo - Something (2002)

Discovered on:
UK top 40 probably.

The magic about Something lies in the fact that we never learn exactly what that "something" is IMO. We can only speculate, but the mystery remains.
Whenever someone says dance is cold and lacks emotion, throw this song at them.
Infuriatingly random vid btw.

05 Schiller & Heppner - Dream of you (2002)

Discovered on:
Audiogalaxy probably.

Talking about dance with emotion, here is another fine example. A dreamy number which became a massive hit in many european countries.

04 Fischerspooner - Emerge (2001)

Discovered at:
Someone's house during a 1-night stand

Fischerspooner were pigeonholed into the electroclash movement, rather unfairly, as they are much more than just musicians, let alone one-genre-only ones.
This single is pure awesomeness, orgasmic is the only way to describe it. The video though (well my fave out of two available anyway), well directed as it may be, ultimately works against the song, as the flow is disrupted numerous times to the discontent of the listener.

Thank you for that Karolina pic! *drool*
Music? TATU great (well maybe not Robots which is a bit silly for me)- i've never seen that vid of Julia "masturbating" before. :o
Fischerspooner excellent. Lasgo is nice, Bran Van good, Daft Punk i got tired of and Planet Funk is fantastic!

03 De-Javu - I can't stop (2001)

Discovered on:
The radio

Another of the seemingly endless list of Italian dance acts that crossed over outside their country in the late 90s/early 00s. Amazing song this one (mostly because of that electro riff), especially in its full version, not the brutally edited one

02 PPK - ResuRection (2001)

Discovered on:
Audiogalaxy probably.

And the cyrillic theme of this chart continues (ResuRection was first released as Voshkresenie in PPK's home country, Russia). Trance mammoth, based on the theme to an old russian movie. Needless to say that the 8-minute original was cut for the video

01 Каролина Гочева - Од нас зависи (2002)

Discovered on:
Eurovision

This song was remixed a couple of times until it was deemed perfect for ESC. The original version, which featured almost out of key yelling in the chorus, was replaced by another, with more strings and softer singing; Karolina bombed anyway.
It is the original version I loved from the very first listen and I still listen to today.

That's it I guess! Thanks for all the comments once again :D
