I promise I'm not ignoring your impassioned ode to Butterfly/"The Beautiful Ones" - I just haven't sat down and listened to the album again yet, but I plan to have your analysis at hand the next time I play through "The Beautiful Ones." Gives me flashbacks to when Hor broke down every layer of brilliance in "Wildest Dreams" for me. I obviously needed to respond to the following ASAP:

:D :D :D :D :D I was getting nervous with each passing day that "Dancing" didn't appear here following the leak, but it seems you were just holding out for the official release! Such a glorious sight to behold  This is her 12th No. 1 here, yeah? I'm obviously loving it too, but I can't quite shake the feeling that it lacks a certain punch/"oomph" that many of her previous lead singles possessed. Even the ones that I didn't personally enjoy much (like "2 Hearts") had a "wow" factor of sorts that really made them feel like they were ushering in a brand-new era, whereas "Dancing" strikes me more as a strong album track. This might just be the four-year-wait talking, though  It certainly showcases her shift in sound, and I'm still pumped as ever for Golden! <3
• "Disco Love" is adorable - definitely miss The Sats.
• Really pleased that the Kylie hype has lead you back to "Please Stay."

Yet another chart that has me on my feet, Akini! :D

Yeah, it's come at a great time, as it's the perfect song to fit my mood these days. So fun, so joyous, so carefree. Your girl's done well.

I was! I don't like hearing unpolished/leaked versions; I much prefer to wait for the official version these days unless there's absolute certainty that the leaked version is the final product. I agree that the song isn't her best, but I miss the lightness Kylie brings to pop music, and the song is really uplifting, too!

Yeah, it's her 12th chart-topper here, and since you brought it up, let's delve a bit into her #1 history here.

Kylie Minogue - The Red Blooded Woman's Red-Hot Chart-Toppers

- Your Disco Needs You (16 days)
- Turn It into Love (5 days)
- Timebomb (3 days)
- Better the Devil You Know (2 days)
- On the Up (2 days)
- All the Lovers (1 day)
- Breathe (1 day)
- Confide in Me (1 day)
- Dancing (1 day)
- On a Night Like This (1 day)
- Right Here, Right Now (1 day)
- Sexercize (1 day)

"Dancing" is Kylie's 12th #1 here, putting her joint 16th among all artists, and it's her 35th day at #1, making her 18th among all acts.

phoenix98 wrote:• "Disco Love" is adorable - definitely miss The Sats.
Yeah, "Disco Love" is their best song by some margin for me.

I listened to Light Years a few weeks back and really enjoyed it!

Agreed. I'm looking forward to new music from her.

SummerPeur wrote:Great to see Golden Girl get some plays! With Right Here, Right Now - where would you place it amongst Kylie's music?
I think it's probably among her Top 20 songs for me, though it has nostalgia on its side. The song was released during my final semester of college, so the lyric, And the highest mountain is the one that you have climbed really resonated with me, and the whole uplifting vibe of the song really helped me get through that difficult final stretch. Hmm...one of these days I need to do a Kylie countdown!

SummerPeur wrote:I remember watching all the YT videos of people trying to copy her key change. Great song 8-)
How did they do?

I think "Love on Top" didn't connect with me that much early on because it isn't one of the more interesting songs on 4. Other than the great vocals, there wasn't anything that really spoke to me, and I didn't even think the vocals were that impressive the first few times I played it. I've come around to the song, but I still think it's a tad overrated.

Franklin’s music profoundly touched and changed the world, because over and over it offered that bridge to salvation, to freedom.

There must be worse covers on YouTube, and i don't mean those hideous clickbait covers that at intentionally bad. They're just boring.

So much good stuff on display. Nice to see the latest track from Justin Timberlake on the climb, it's easily my favourite of the three songs we've heard so far. JT was unlucky equal the peak of Filthy in my chart as it got a better reception but Say something got caught behind a solid top 3.

Expect to see Shakira entering my chart next week with Trap. It's not quite as amazing as Chantaje for me but there's definitely something interesting about this track.

Your disco needs you is fabulous. :P :D I'm also amazed as how much you've been loving Breathe over these last couple of weeks.

Aw, she didn't do so bad of a job. She was pretty good, and you're probably not aware of this, but she was actually a runner-up on American Idol. She's a fantastic vocalist. I remember really loving her interpretation of Beyoncé's "Sweet Dreams".

Glad you're impressed by them! :D

Yeah, I've been really stressed out lately, and "Breathe" reminds me to do just that - breathe! I'm a control freak, so sometimes I struggle with giving up the reins and just letting go of circumstances over which I have little or no control.

Ah, I love "Out of the Woods" too! :D

Yeah, Jessica's a quality singer! You should check out the performance I linked above. :D

Same here! I haven't had time to really decode the lyrics, as I'm not entirely sure he's not addressing an incident he had on Twitter regarding his Jesse Williams comment. The song, though, is much more in the vein of what he should be releasing.

Ah, for me "Trap" is so much better than "Chantaje". The former has so much sex appeal, whereas the latter just falls flat. I could also say the same for the respective videos for each.

"Your Disco Needs You" is a strong contender for my favourite Kylie song (though that's a tribute/countdown still to come). It's easily among my favourite songs ever.

Like I mentioned to SummerPeur, "Breathe" help me to relax when I'm stressed. It has such a mellow melody. So soothing!
