Nice number one. It's not one of my faves from their album but still a solid track.

Always very glad to see "Crystallize" back, also great re-entries for Cardi B & Lady Gaga.

Finally heard "Ocean" and "Growing Pains" yesterday and i quite like them both, with "Ocean" being the better of them two. "Growing Pains" sounds like a little sister to "Scars To Your Beautiful".

:o I...wha...huh...what? Now it's like MY birthday has come early    I would've been pleasantly surprised if "Graves" had merely managed to elevate itself a notch above "pedestrian" in your eyes/ears, but this...this is...
• AND "Chasing Fire" is right on its tail? Damn, it's like my birthday + Christmas COMBINED in here! I'd noticed that "Chasing Fire" made a pretty positive first impression on you, but my body was NOT ready for a No. 5 debut, promptly followed by a climb into your Top 2! If only America hadn't been SO damn slow with embracing "I Like Me Better" (it JUST cracked the Hot 100 Top 50 for the first time, after being a Top 10 hit in Australia last fall), "Chasing Fire" could've been his hit follow-up single right now.
• I'm digging "Ocean." Somewhat fittingly for its title, it has a really soothing, cleansing effect - like you're just gently drifting along on open waters.
• This is my first time hearing "Keeping Score," and I'm pretty sold! I'd be totally open to a country-flavored album from Kelly, and given all the times that she's dabbled in it as a featured guest/collaborator, it's kind of surprising that we haven't gotten one already.
• Aw, "I Got You" <3 Leona faded way too fast. Granted, I never actually checked out I Am in full...
• Always a treat to see "Work" (re)appear here. Did that one co-worker have a hand in this recent return, or was it all you?

Yet another chart that's full of life, Akini! :D

What are your faves from the CHVRCHES album?

Yeah, I definitely agree with you on "Growing Pains"; she even references the title of her previous album on it, so it very much feels like a sequel of sorts.

Yeah, many thanks for selling it to me! I think images like this and this really brought the song to life for me.

Oh, I didn't know Lauv was a solo act; I always got band vibes from the music. But yeah, "Chasing Fire" was uber instant, and it's already surpassed "I Like Me Better" as my favourite Lauv song.

Indeed! And you already know how I feel about water-influenced/-featuring tracks.

I'm actually not interested in hearing a country album from KC. I suppose she could do some eclectic country-rock fusions, but I feel like it's not a style I can listen to from her for a full-length record.

Yeah, both she and Jordin did.

Wonderful to see Dami Im almost RE @#1. I think she has SOO much potential, however just isn't finding the best material. Sound of Silence though is a fantastic song.

I listened to left outside alone yesterday!!! I often am so guilty of forgetting Anastascia exists, and then it popped up in a throwback playlist and I was like all the feels

I totally agree with you regarding Dami's talent versus the material she gets. Even "Sound of Silence", which is her best song, still leaves much to be desired on the lyrical end of things, but clumsy writing and weak production never stops Dami from committing 100% in the vocal department.

Yeah, I always play Anastacia every now and then. Her voice is too special for me to ever forget about her, and she's recorded some mightily impressive songs, too. "One Day in Your Life" is my favourite from her, and I can think of literally no other singer on the planet who could've done a better job with that song.

"Graves" is a particularly important moment. “It’s a cheerful one, isn’t it?” grins Lauren as the track looks at the ongoing refugee crisis, Grenfell Tower and the Conservative government’s relentless inaction in the face of it all.

“It’s such a defiant song, that’s what I love about it,” offers Iain.

“It’s that putting salt in something sweet,” adds Lauren. “Yes, it’s the only song I’ve ever sung the word ‘baby’ in ever in my life, but it’s in such a tongue in cheek way."

• Ooh, so this marks Shawn's...third No. 1? I noticed "Stitches" and "Youth" on the first page, but I might've missed something else. "Nervous" has definitely been one of the standouts as I've played through his latest album, so I hope there's plans to give it a proper push (in addition to the video). "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back" is probably still my overall favorite from him, though.
• Leave it to Amy to be the only holdover from the previous day! That got me wondering how often your charts are comprised entirely of new/re-entries, but it looks like that just happened on Sunday!
• Always a treat to see some of Gaga's classics pop back up. There's actually a handful of fun 2008-2011 nostalgia happening here!

Yet another chart that's got me trembling, Akini! :D

Three of those four are among my all-time favourite songs, so good to know you also appreciate them. Yesterday's chart was a bit more random than usual, now that I look at it.

Very close to it, though!

Yeah, it's his third chart-topper, and its debut is completely due to its beyond-adorable video! It's rare these days for video effects to be so massive for me.

I think "Youth" may end up being my favourite Shawn Mendes song, but "Stitches" is probably my current #1 from him. I'll never forget how surprised I was to learn that he came up with such an undeniable bop.

I feel like it happens every other month or so. It's a fairly rare occurrence.

Well, the songs above were highlights for me, but I was pleasantly surprised that there were no bad songs on the record.

'Everytime' is one of Britney's best, the song as well as the music video.

Everytime I listen to Duffy I have to think of the awful 'Whale Whale Whale', I don't think that I can overcome the trauma this song has caused anymore. That's why she has vanished from all of my playlists.

Agreed! It is also one of her finest vocal performances.

I actually haven't heard that Duffy song. I'll have to listen to hear how terrible it is.
