The "UKmixPARADE" - The Chart Of Our Charts!

Moderators: JSparksFan, tdc2000, FreakyFlyBry

Postby setg1 » Mon Dec 04, 2017 1:25 am

"Flawless" makes history on the setg1 top five – it is the first song in nearly two years of charts to spend six weeks at number one! As the chart has been really slow lately (there are no new entries for the third week in a row), the song's domination may not even end there.

Portugal. The Man is still at #2, preventing a top three consisting of only My Little Pony songs. Speaking of those, "Coinky-Dink World" climbs two positions and is also fighting for a good spot in the upcoming year-end ranking. Next week, we will have the second anniversary edition of the setg1 top five, which will hopefully be more exciting than the last couple of charts!

1. (1.) Rebecca Shoichet, Ashleigh Ball, Kazumi Evans, Shannon Chan-Kent & Andrea Libman: Flawless (6 weeks at #1)
2. (2.) Portugal. The Man: Feel It Still
3. (5.) Shannon Chan-Kent: Coinky-Dink World
4. (3.) Rebecca Shoichet, Andrea Libman, Ashleigh Ball, Shannon Chan-Kent & Kazumi Evans: Rise Up!
5. (4.) Khalid: Young Dumb & Broke

Thanks again for the comments this week ! :D

Looking ahead to tonight, it seems that Selena Gomez and Marshmello have another chance of finally getting into the top ten - although they are battling against a high new entry from Sigrid and a couple of former hits that are likely to make impressive returns to the UKmixParade this week. But, unbelievably, Rita Ora currently has even more points than she did last week - and it appears certain that "Anywhere" will spend another week as our forum favourite. Thirteen hours are left for further new and updated top fives to make an impact this time !

Against all the odds, I have four out of five this week for the first time in ages . . . . . :o

.`

Week 434

Thirty-one of the personal charts combined into last week's UKmixParade have been updated - but not the chart of aditop, now dropping out. Meanwhile, it's welcome back to JimJim. 660 points from forty-four contributors are shared among 172 different tracks, twenty-nine of which are at number one in one individual chart but nowhere in any others. Everyone has at least two of their top five in the overall top eighty this time, while the entire top fives of cheapthrills, ConstantinosV and Mickael2013 are somewhere here.

Franz Ferdinand have one of the biggest climbers of the week, racing up thirty-five places into the top twenty - but two out of nine re-entries are higher, for Dua Lipa and Toni Braxton. Meanwhile, the most impressive of twenty-two brand new hits crashes straight into the top five for Sigrid - and Ed Sheeran (helped somewhat by Beyonce) rises to a new peak, scoring twenty points from seven members. However, now collecting forty-five points from twelve of our top fives, it's a sixth week at the top for Rita Ora, and "Anywhere".

Although my spreadsheet for the first ten months of this year has become almost impossible to use now, I should have spotted this from my workings on the chart of the year. Amendments made above accordingly ! It will move up quite a few places from the number 980 position it currently holds for 2017 when this week's points are added.

I spent a few minutes trying to figure out whether she was meant to be credited alongside Ed or not, but couldn't find a clear answer . . . . . I felt that mentioning her in the commentary was my best shot at covering both bases !

^OCC says no, Billboard says yes. I included her in OCC Charts posting as it seems odd not to give credit to someone that is driving the current sales - same with her spot on Mi Gente.

I edited my post above to give Blondie details though i see you already checked.

It's been two years since the first setg1 top five was released! The first chart topper was Adele's "Million Years Ago", which would spend 13 weeks in the top five and three at #1 – both were records at the time, though they have been broken a few times since.

To celebrate the occasion, a three-week drought of new entries is over. For the second time ever, the chart has two debuts and a re-entry. Rebecca Shoichet's "Monday Blues" made a quick appearance at #2 almost two months ago but left after just two weeks. However, the song makes an incredible re-entry, going all the way to the top. It beats "Feel It Still", which was very close to returning to #1, and "Flawless", which falls out of the top two for the first time in its ten-week run. The two new entries appear at the bottom of the chart. Highly Suspect get their first entry ever, while Louis Tomlinson gets his second (following the #2-peaking "Back to You").

This means that three songs have left the chart. The chart-topping My Little Pony songs "Coinky-Dink World" and "Rise Up!" are two of these – the former spent nine weeks in the top five (in two separate runs), the latter just four. The third dropout managed to break a couple of chart records: Khalid's "Young Dumb & Broke" scored 12 points (the most for a #3 hit) and spent eight weeks in the top five (the most for a song that didn't reach #1). With this performance, it will even beat a couple of #1 hits in the upcoming year-end chart!

1. (Re) Rebecca Shoichet: Monday Blues (1 week at #1)
2. (2.) Portugal. The Man: Feel It Still
3. (1.) Rebecca Shoichet, Ashleigh Ball, Kazumi Evans, Shannon Chan-Kent & Andrea Libman: Flawless
4. (-) Highly Suspect: Little One
5. (-) Louis Tomlinson: Miss You

Just to complicate matters even further (although i doubt anyone on here will chart/vote for this version):

11 December 2017

Ed Sheeran to release a second Perfect collaboration featuring Andrea Bocelli

The new version follows the Beyoncé collaboration.

By Jack White
Ed Sheeran is one of the leading names in the race for the Christmas Number 1 this year, and he has one final trick up his sleeve that he hopes will help him clinch the coveted #XmasNo1 spot.

Ed is currently celebrating Perfect becoming his fourth Number 1 single, which reached the summit after an incredible 22 non-consecutive weeks in the Top 40.

Several versions of the song are currently available, including the original, an acoustic recording, remixes from Mike Perry and Robin Schulz, and most recently, a duet version featuring Beyoncé, the latter of which skyrocketed the song's popularity last Friday to earn Ed a second Number 1 smash of 2017. Now, Ed is releasing another collaborative version this Friday.

"I do have one more trick up my sleeve," Ed explained on last Friday's Official Chart Show with Mistajam on BBC Radio 1. "It's not like a Beyoncé trick, but it's quite a cool trick. "This next one, no-one's expecting. It's more for my dad's generation. It'll be out in a week. You'll see then."

It was then revealed on US TV over the weekend that operatic tenor Andrea Bocelli will be sharing the mic with Ed on the latest version, which Ed believes will interest an older audience. The new duet will be released this Friday, December 15.

Speaking to the Today show, Ed confirmed: "I've got an Italian operatic version with Andrea Bocelli coming out. It's just kind of a little present for Christmas. It's a really beautiful video that comes with it."

Ed's fourth UK chart topper is also a record-breaker. No other song has spent longer on the Official Chart before reaching Number 1 than Perfect, and Ed breaks his own 19-week record set by Thinking Out Loud as an extra cherry on top.
