The year-end countdowns are on, including that of the setg1 top five
, but the weekly chart is also coming out as usual. The first chart of 2018 is both familiar and new. The top three remains the same as last week, but the two lower positions go to new songs. The Manic Street Preachers had a #1 hit in 2016 with "Together Stronger"; their new single "International Blue" debuts at #4. And something that's becoming a tradition: as in 2017, the first chart of the new year features a debut by Sia. While "Never Give Up" went to #2 (and the earlier "Unstoppable" to #1), the new song might not make much progress from its debut, as it is a Christmas song. But still, "Santa's Coming for Us" becomes her third top five hit at #5 – and the first Christmas song to chart.
The dropouts of the week are two former #1 hits: Rebecca Shoichet's "Monday Blues", which charted for five weeks, and Portugal. The Man's "Feel It Still", which had an impressive 13-week run (including two weeks at the top).
