Many thanks and much love for all the comments! :D

JakeP wrote:Actually no, That's what i like peaked at #12 although it had a much stronger chart run compared to 24k magic despite the latter having a higher chart peak. Both balance each other out whilst Versace on the floor has quite comfortably been Bruno's biggest track off the album.
Ah - whoops! We've had pretty similar experiences with the album otherwise, though: "That's What I Like" also peaked lower but lasted longer than the title track here, while "Versace" has enjoyed the strongest run of all.

JakeP wrote:Isn't it just? But at the start of the week Strangers was #8 in the midweeks but this was because Spotify data was missing. Still, it's an amazing achievement to have Sigrid even getting as high as #26. LOL Jake#Psychic
Aw, that midweek peak is such a tease - but at least you know to take it with a (pretty massive) grain of salt. Officially up to No. 14 now, though! :o :D

JakeP wrote:I'd warm even more up to Liam if he stopped trying to be a wannabe american and actually released a genuinely good song. I still regard For you as a Rita Ora song. :P Hmm i suspect Liam was credited first purely for chart purposes, so his record label can say he got two UK top 10 singles - although so far its peaked at #11. I'm sure it'll repeak when the music video is released.
Yeah, I really shouldn't be too quick to write off its chart success yet since neither the video nor movie are out (though I don't think either will really change my impression of the song, especially since I don't even plan to see the movie...)

JakeP wrote:The way its going i'm never gonna see The greatest showman. Aah so you're a Netflix and chill kinda guy, eh?
;) You're too quick for my tricks, Jake...

JakeP wrote:Gosh :o :D  This is incredible to see. I didn't expect to see Kylie gatecrashing into your chart with that 24 hour impact. That does mean its another amazing shared #1 as i've listened to Dancing more times in the last 24 hours than most other songs have been played all week. Considering the number of Kylie songs that have made my chart over the last few years, she was overdue a #1 in my chart. <3
Love LoVe LOVE that this has become another shared No. 1 for us (and our first of 2018!) I gotta confess, though - I did cave and download the leak  so "Dancing" had a few days to accumulate plays (the cutoff for my chart is midnight on Thursday, and then I compile it in a Word Doc using the last.fm data available on Friday morning - I just usually don't get around to posting it here on UKMIX until Saturday.)

JakeP wrote:Aww, poor Hailee. :( So am i right in guessing this was heading for #1 until Kylie overtook all the competition in the final hours of the tracking week. This also enters my chart but not quite as high as this. :P
Hailee's chances were looking really good (especially since I saw her in Pitch Perfect 3 last Saturday, which put her on my mind even more)...until Kylie waltzed in.

JakeP wrote:2018 has got off to an amazing start as far as unashamed pop music is concerned. I don't care about the lack of success in official charts. A #1 in my chart means more to me than seeing some hideous rapper ending up at #1 in the UK for three months. Troye is so owning it in the video, and i'm loving the fact he's kinda camping it up a bit. <3
"My My My!" really is poptastic <3 and he is absolutely OWNING it in that video! 8-)

Thanks again, Jake! :D

Hmm...I'm not sold on "Curious" after the first play, but I've added it to my Spotify library anyway because it might end up being a grower.

Nice to see "Better Man" as one of the beneficiaries of the Grammy Awards. It is such a beautiful song...and better than any of Taylor's singles of this Reputation era actually!

Many thanks for adding it even after such an unenthusiastic initial assessment :D I'd seen Hayley's name around a few times before (mostly in relation to her being open about her sexuality in her material), but I think it was seeing her album up for pre-order that got me to finally give her stuff a listen. The fast-paced part of the "Curious" chorus really grabbed me right away, but there's a lot about the song that I'm lovin' (and her little group-dance-routine in the video is pretty cute too...)

Ooh...I'm not sure if I'd go quite so far as to say that "Better Man" hits me harder than ALL of the Reputation singles, but I definitely like how it serves as a glimpse into the kind of music Taylor would be making if she was still doing country herself post-Red (and it shows that she'd still be doing it pretty damn well!)

Thanks again, Akini! :D

Aw, I definitely hate to let you down, stevyy...but JT's never been one of the biggest forces on Paulboard  He's yet to score a No. 1, with his biggest hits being:

"Mirrors (Radio Edit)" = No. 2 peak| 5 weeks total
"Can't Stop The Feeling!" = No. 3 | 9 wks
"Not A Bad Thing (Radio Edit)" = No. 7 | 8 wks

Though, if my chart had existed during the FS/LS era, some of those singles would've smashed. I'm glad the Joanne re-entires were a pleasant sight, at least! Her performance at the Grammys (and the release of that new version of the title track) really put that album back on my mind.

Thanks again, stevyy :D Hope I can redeem myself someday! ;)

Whoa at the SZA dominance! :o I know you mentioned you were enjoying six tracks from Ctrl, but this is a lot more than I expected! Great to see! :D

Nice to see the VÉRITÉ remix of "Casanova" here, too, but of course the highlights for me are "Pray for Me" and "All the Stars". 8-) I'm looking forward to seeing the latter climb next week.

8-) I was hoping we'd be able to enjoy some shared enthusiasm for SZA/Ctrl (especially after I'd been falling pretty out-of-step with you lately with Charli, Hayley, and Camila.)

bluecherry deserves a lot of credit for encouraging me to give her a chance back in late October, at which point my only exposure to her had been "Consideration" and "What Lovers Do." Of the three tracks he recommended, "Garden (Say It Like Dat)" was the only one that really stood out to me at the time...then during the Grammys, they kept playing a clip of the "Love Galore" video each time she was nominated for (and subsequently denied) one of the televised awards, and that really drew me into finally giving the full album a try.

You can count on that! It's off like a shooting star...

Thanks again, Akini! :D

G'day Paul :D

01 (NE) 01 | "Think About You" - Delta Goodrem | 1 (1)

Ahh so Delta really did fend off all the competition then. :P As i mentioned in my chart thread, i do like this song but i personally think Delta has released much better in the past. Still, a #18 peak in my chart is a chart entry nonetheless.

02 (02) 03 | "All The Stars" - Kendrick Lamar ft. SZA | 2 (2) | [G]

Ohh nice to see Kendrick & SZA holding up well in your chart. I have to admit, whilst the music video is visually striking i felt like i was getting over the song, and not even a glossy video could really help keep my interest levels high for a longer period.

03 (NE) 01 | "Make Me Feel" - Janelle Monáe | 3

Whereas Janelle has just got everything spot on with Make me feel. Absolutely incredible package, both song and video. A winning combination and i'm hoping this song will eventually become a massive worldwide hit. 8-)

09 (18) 05 | "The Middle" - Zedd ft. Maren Morris & Grey | 2 (1) | [G]

The ultimate slow burner of 2018 so far. I never thought this would make my top 10 in the end, but its been very consistent so far. Not bad for a single that's so far peaked at #10.

30 (NE) 01 | "Lullaby" - Sigala ft. Paloma Faith | 30

Aww i suppose it's a good result that Sigala managed to scrape into your top 30. It's not quite as solid as Came here for love but i still love this song enough to make my top 3. :D

It's funny because I was listening to a string of Janet songs and queued "Think About You" to play afterward, and had to check Spotify to make sure it wasn't Janet I was listening to. "Think About You" is more sensual than Delta's ever ventured, I'd say (at least from the Delta songs I know). It sounds okay on the first listen. I'll have to give it a few more spins.

Happy to see that not only has "All the Stars" leapt to #2, it's managed to hold on to the runner-up spot, too! And yay at the debut for "Make Me Feel". Save for the new Delta song that I'm not totally sold on, you have a fantastic Top 4! Marvel could never!

01 (NE) 01 | "Think About You" - Delta Goodrem | 1 (1)
02 (02) 03 | "All The Stars" - Kendrick Lamar ft. SZA | 2 (2) | [G]

04 (03) 04 | "Prom" - SZA | 1 (2) | [P]
08 (05) 04 | "Love Galore" - SZA ft. Travis Scott | 2 (2) | [G]
10 (26) 09 | "I Like Me Better" - Lauv | 1 (2) | [P]

bluecherry deserves a lot of credit for encouraging me to give her a chance back in late October, at which point my only exposure to her had been "Consideration" and "What Lovers Do." Of the three tracks he recommended, "Garden (Say It Like Dat)" was the only one that really stood out to me at the time...then during the Grammys, they kept playing a clip of the "Love Galore" video each time she was nominated for (and subsequently denied) one of the televised awards, and that really drew me into finally giving the full album a try.

You can count on that! It's off like a shooting star...

Thanks again, Akini! :D
Ah, kudos to bluecherry for putting you on to SZA! Admittedly, her music wasn't instant for me (save for "The Weekend"), but I'm growing to appreciate a lot of her Ctrl songs. Her Grammy performance helped to sell me on the beauty of "Broken Clocks" actually.
Aretha Franklin was an angel. Her voice helped lift our spirits and at times gave us the soundtrack to cope with our pain.

I feel you there. Even among the very few Delta singles that I've heard, I wouldn't put this above "Heart Hypnotic" or "Sitting On Top Of The World" if I had to rank them - but it's still SUCH cheeky fun! A light, breezy, flirty good time - and I've DEFINITELY done what she's describing throughout the track  The whole scenario really speaks to my shy, lustful side.

JakeP wrote:Ohh nice to see Kendrick & SZA holding up well in your chart. I have to admit, whilst the music video is visually striking i felt like i was getting over the song, and not even a glossy video could really help keep my interest levels high for a longer period.
I'm glad it had you hooked for at least a little while ;) It looks like we were drawn to opposing Black Panther singles: with me being much more captivated by "All The Stars", while "Pray For Me" clicked with you in a BIG way! It definitely helped "All The Stars"s case that I was pretty high on SZA after checking out her own album.

JakeP wrote:Whereas Janelle has just got everything spot on with Make me feel. Absolutely incredible package, both song and video. A winning combination and i'm hoping this song will eventually become a massive worldwide hit. 8-)
Yes. PLZ! It's at least dented the Hot 100 (No. 99) and official UK chart (No. 74), which is already a rare feat for her material, but it deserves SO much more! It seems to be pretty universally liked (if not LOVED) around UKMIX, so surely at least a decent chunk of the public would feel the same...? Her name has been out there even more than before thanks to the success of Hidden Figures, so I really don't get why a song like this still won't take off.

Not gonna lie, I had to YouTube "Came Here For Love" to refresh my memory on that one  The only Sigala singles that charted here prior to "Lullaby" were "Easy Love" and "Say You Do." I still get Sigala and Sigma confused sometimes too...

Thanks again, Jake! :D

From what I've seen, I might be the only one who's really entranced by "Think About You" (around UKMIX, and even in her native Australia), so I understand if it ends up being a "pass" for you. Like I was saying to Jake above, the scenario she's describing really speaks to my shy, lustful side - and overall, the track is just such light, breezy, bouncy, frisky, flirty fun <3 Now that I think about it, it actually reminds me a bit of "Touch My Body" in that sense (which is definitely a flattering comparison in my books!)

Phew! I was a little worried that you'd let me have it for letting "All The Stars" get blocked by two different (and arguably far more "basic") entries.

"Broken Clocks" is another Ctrl moment that never quite clicked with me, but perhaps re-watching that performance could spark something...

Yay at the Janet entries! :D When I played All for You, "Truth" sounded so familiar that I must have heard it on radio at some point in my childhood.

I have to admit that I'm not really sold on "Stop Me from Falling". Kylie's capable of so much better, and I really hope this new album isn't a disaster because I'm getting the vibe that it could be, to be honest.

Hope to see "Butterflies" climb next week. It's definitely superior to "Space Cowboy" for me.

Yeah, even though "Touch My Body" is meh when you compare it to MC's catalogue, as a standalone song, it really is solid.

:o My regards to that DJ! Though it might also be ringing bells because it incorporates this older hit. Apologies if you're like "I obviously knew that. Don't insult me now." Either way, "Truth" is definitely another example of how All For You could've/should've turned into another Rhythmn Nation 1814 or janet. era singles-wise (going 8-9 deep, especially if they did some region-exclusive selections.)

JSparksFan wrote:I have to admit that I'm not really sold on "Stop Me from Falling". Kylie's capable of so much better, and I really hope this new album isn't a disaster because I'm getting the vibe that it could be, to be honest.

I was noticing over in Tansike's thread how Kylie's new direction is causing really mixed reactions across the few personal charts that I check most often. Both you and Tansike seem pretty (or, in your case, REALLY) unimpressed, while Jake and I are loving it! I think she's done a really satisfying job of incorporating some country flair into songs that still have a very "Kylie" feel overall. To me it just seems like a matter of her serving up some infectious uplifting country/pop instead of some infectious uplifting dance/pop. She's done some experimentation in the past that truly hasn't clicked with me (like much of Impossible Princess, or "2 Hearts") but I've been totally sold on these samples of Golden so far!

 @ the notion of any Kylie album being a "disaster," though...

JSparksFan wrote:Hope to see "Butterflies" climb next week. It's definitely superior to "Space Cowboy" for me.
Well...just as it was starting to sorta-kinda grab my attention, it's been completely overshadowed by another Golden Hour offering  That album is definitely on my "To Do" list - but I've been curious about Hayley's since falling for "Curious" back in January, so I'm focusing on hers first.

JSparksFan wrote:Yeah, even though "Touch My Body" is meh when you compare it to MC's catalogue, as a standalone song, it really is solid.
Hmmm...I'm inclined to grant it higher praise than that. It's a light, breezy, bouncy, refreshing track in its own regard, but also really refreshing in the context of her lead singles (sounding unlike any that came before it.) The flirtiness, cheekiness of it all - between what she's saying in the lyrics and the vibe conveyed by the production - comes together pretty perfectly for me. Not quite Top 10 across her (epic) catalog, but Top 20 probably wouldn't be totally out-of-the-question for me. I'd have to mull that over more, but there's no doubt I've got a big soft spot for it!

You keep it unfiltered  but what's the point of being on a forum like this if you still suppress your own opinions/reactions? (Actual trolling aside, of course.) Besides, your brashness gives me opportunities to work on better managing my own overly-defensive/protective/sensitive reactions.

Thanks again, Akini! :D
