Hope your #1 is an improvement on last year!

I think it'll be between Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5 & Saturdays. Gone with Ed Sheeran.

"We Found Love" is definitely my favorite of the poll options...but since this is probably one of the only countdowns that The Sats have even a CHANCE of topping, and since I'd love to see them do well SOMEWHERE, I went with "All Fired Up"! ;)

Got no idea but went with Someone Like You.

The UK got Something Good Can Work very late, it was released last year in France.

Okay let's kick this off!
This year I've worked hard to find out all the peaks for acts that have charted in my end of year countdown from 2003-2010, so that you can compare their performance to previous years as well!

I hope you enjoy!

100. Loick Essien - Me Without You
Image
A very recent song to start us off, Loick Essien released a few singles this year to bring himself into public consciousness. I felt this should have been at least a top 10 hit, but at least it got decent radio play and a good chart position. Some odd lyrics but very much a radio friendly sing-along anthem.

99. Sara Bareilles - King Of Anything
Image
Next up is an artist I really got into after seeing her support Maroon 5 in February of this year.. this was a big single in America but did nothing her. Very representative of her kooky singer-songwriter style, this is very easy listening, lyrically great and a very polite diss song! Sara has made my top 100 before with the much bigger hit, 'Love Song'.

Sara BAREILLES
74. Love Song (2008)
99. King of Anything (2011)
98. Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks
Image
Another song that was much bigger the other side of the pond, but that made a hit in the UK too, is this monster hit from Foster the People. It's a very subtle one, with a great bass riff and a very catchy chorus. It's not one to reach out and grab you, but it's one that you realise has got you over time!

97. Foo Fighters - Walk
Image
Foo Fighters have really done well this year and brought out three singles I've really liked, in 'Rope', 'Arlandria' and this - but this is the highest they get to. None of them are quite as good for me as the brilliant 'The Pretender' which made it much higher up in 2007. This is an odd one as I'm not in love with the entire song, but at the end when Dave is shouting 'Forever! Whenever! I never wanna die! I never wanna leave! I'll never say goodbye!' it's really, REALLY epic and charts for that amazing part alone.

FOO FIGHTERS
26. The Pretender (2007)
97. Walk (2011)
96. Jessie J ft B.o.B - Price Tag
Image
This is a great song, let's get that straight! But it's one of those songs that we have just heard so very often that it has lost the charm it initially had. I remember hearing her perform it acoustically on Jools Holland and just being blown away, and while I didn't like the radio edit initially, it grew on me and became one of the years biggest and best. Sadly that's faded but I still do like hearing it out and was a live Glastonbury highlight too. It's Jessie's first foray into my chart, though she may have more to come - B.o.B on the other hand had a moderately successful year last year and adds to his tally.

B.o.B
60. Nothin’ On You (ft. Bruno MARS (2010)
64. Airplanes (ft. Hayley WILLIAMS) (2010)
66. Magic (ft. Rivers CUOMO) (2010)
96. Price Tag (with Jessie J) (2011)
95. Arctic Monkeys - Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair
Image
The Arctics have had quite a few entries on my end of year charts. I overlooked their debut as my tastes were still changing then and I didn't get it when it was released, but they've had everything from top 10 to entries in the 80s. This becomes their lowest end of year charter (though some singles never made it at all). It was a decent album opener but in all honesty I've not loved the direction they've been heading in, preferring the jaunty, childish direction of their first two records. This is a good record played live though, as demonstrated at V Festival this year.

ARCTIC MONKEYS
10. Teddy Picker (2007)
12. Flourescent Adolescent (2007)
15. When The Sun Goes Down (2006)
34. Crying Lightning (2009)
55. Cornerstone (2009)
82. Leave Before The Lights Come On (2006)
95. Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair (2011)
94. Alexandra Stan - Mr Saxobeat
Image
One of the songs of the summer, and one that just puts the biggest smile on your face! Definitely a dancefloor favourite, and one that was massive on my trip to Majorca in the summer. Radio 1 smashed this as well, with Reggie giving 'saxy time' plenty of promo. That saxophone is certainly one of the sounds to be remembered this year!

93. The Vaccines - Norgaard
Image
Probably the shortest track in the countdown at only a couple of minutes long, but one of the most catchy on the list too. The Vaccines have had a great year singles wise, after hitting the scene with 'Post Break Up Sex'. The refrain of 'her mind's made up, she don't wanna go steady//she's only 17 so she's probably not ready' is one of my favourite singalong moments in music 2011.

92. Aloe Blacc - I Need A Dollar
Image
Speaking of singalong, don't look any further than this song's chorus! I remember walking to see an act at Glastonbury just as Aloe was finishing his set and I heard him do this - the atmosphere and the sheer amount of people singing along was amazing. It was Reggie's record of the week on Radio 1 and I didn't get it at first, but it'll get you in the end. Add to it a brilliant live lounge performance from the Saturdays, and here we are in my top 100!

91. Ke$ha - Blow
Image
And finally today we look to Ke$ha, an act I couldn't stand when she came out with Tik Tok! Gradually I am beginning to see her as lots of fun, with each release she grows on me more and this was definitely my favourite of her singles! Still unable to burst into the top 90 though!

KE$HA
91. Blow (2011)
100. My First Kiss (with 3OH!3) (2010)

Great start here!

WOO for Ke$ha, Foo Fighters (agreed on your write up about them), Foster The People, Alexandra Stan and Aloe Blacc.

Couldn't stand Mr Saxobeat at first but it's irresistibly catchy.

Great way to kick it off. I'm the same as you on Ke$ha, only started liking her this year.

Great to see someone else charting "Norgaard " too, my favourite Vaccines single. Also the Foo's, but I probably prefer "Arlandria". They have released some catchy stuff this time around.

Great to see the Arctics in there again, even if you're not liking their current direction.

Nothing I don't like in that lot.
