28 RE Tricky with Martina Topley-Bird - When We Die VIDEO
Not a fan of Tricky's current rambling vocal style, but the music is fine.
27 RE Kate Nash - Call Me
Somehow got overlooked by me, a great one by Kate Nash.
15 NEW Jessie Ware - Midnight
The premise was boring and that "want/love/need" songwriting should seriously be banned.

I agree that Wrenn has a great voice! Not totally convinced by the song itself but could be a grower.

5 NEW Exit Eden - Incomplete
Seems to be a girl-band version of gothic metal.
37 NEW Gary Numan - What God Intended
The background music would be a fitting soundtrack to a computer game.

It's disappointing for me so not likely. Seems to be a stop-gap release rather than a proper single.

That's Bieber's first EVER entry on my chart. Tellingly, it's posted on BloodPop's channel but it's Bieber's name first which basically means it's BloodPop's track (BloodPop being one guy Michael Tucker) but is being marketed as a Bieber one. He was previously known as Blood Diamonds and did the original version of Charli XCX's Grins before she added her vocals.

It's a lot more lively than anything else she's put out recently. There's a new lyric video that helps explain what it's about that i'll post next week.

Very nice to see Kesha scoring a Top10 album with "Rainbow". I really like it, and some songs were growers for me.

Not sure if i want to check out Exit Eden's album in full. I've heard a few snippets of some of their songs and they seem a bit too cheesy, even for my taste. Would you recommend it for someone who likes Nightwish & Co.? :)

^It's not full on proper goth/symphonic metal but it's in that arena. It's more along the lines of a Simon Cowell talent show act or a BabyMetal thing.

Incomplete, Fade To Grey, Bryan Adams' Heaven are the standouts. They just released a vid of Paparazzi which doesn't work at all.
If there's inherent drama in the song itself it lends itself better. Otherwise you end up laughing and i don't think that's the result they want!

Kesha's album is fairly decent soft rock - Eagles Of Death Metal are on it twice!. I've never been a big fan but you have to admire her for what she's gone through and the autotune has bit the dust.

2 2 Nine Inch Nails - Add Violence (MA) (5 weeks; peak #2) 5 WEEKS AT #2
3 NEW Steven Wilson - To The Bone DEEZER
Image

4 NEW The Duke Spirit - Sky Is Mine DEEZER
5 NEW UNKLE - The Road, Pt. 1 DEEZER
6 3 Jesus Culture - Love Has A Name (live) (2 weeks; peak #3)
7 NEW Alice Glass - Alice Glass (MA) DEEZER

9 NEW Everything Everything - A Fever Dream DEEZER
Better than the over-rated previous.

10 NEW Ghostpoet - Dark Days and Canapes DEEZER
11 NEW KMFDM - Hell Yeah DEEZER
Hell no, more like. Only two tracks come close to what they're capable of - Total State Machine and Only Lovers. To call this album industrial would be an insult to the term.

2 NEW Gary Numan - And It All Began With You
The instrumental part is a bit computer game-ish.
15 NEW Steven Wilson with Ninet Tayeb - Pariah
Haphazard at best.Image
19 NEW UNKLE with Liela Moss - Sunrise (Always Comes Around)
Might be eclipsed by other new entries this weekImage
1 1 The Birthday Massacre - Under Your Spell
I've enjoyed ''Counterpane'' and ''Hex'' the most. This album feels a little bit dated in a way that it sounds very 10 years ago.
3 NEW Steven Wilson - To The Bone
“Contains strong bloody violence.”
4 NEW The Duke Spirit - Sky Is Mine
The slightly more palatable than their other ones

Gary Numan - And It All Began With You

Was curious about this song, and what did I hear? Chris Isaak's Wicked Game remake in a electronic/industrial genre. Sorry.

^ It's just a part of the chorus, not the whole thing. I deliberately didn't mention this similarity, though.
Not that Wicked Game is bad it's just a bit incongruous if you're trying to be Numan-esque.

Somebody's being creative in their comments. Thanks, Hep.

17 NE Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do VIDEO
Image
Nearly 100 million views in less than 4 days! :o Has to be said that her use of I'm Too Sexy is a bit misjudged as the chorus kills the song - when you have to shove the words to fit into the melody you're not winning (the verses are like Marina or Amanda Palmer). But it's selling as well as streaming, so she doesn't care. Lots of great clues to her spats of yore in the vid.

1 NE Hercules and Love Affair feat. Rouge Mary - Rejoice
Different lunatics have got a story to tell.
7 NE Tori Amos - Reindeer King
I call her ''a poor man's Kate Bush''
16 NE Blancmange - Anna Dine
Nothing wrong with it
17 NE Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do
A sample of OMC's ''How Bizarre'' as the chorus' key change would have been much more appropriate
28 NE Jerry Williams - Babe
I don't have anything bad to say about it.
1 NE The War On Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
So very polished. But ''Pain'', ''Holding On'' and ''In Chains'' somehow clicked with me,
2 NE Ramin Djawadi - Game Of Thrones Season 7 (OTVST)
Such a waste of good music on this pompous empty shell of a show, At least some publicity, I guess.
8 NE Tiny Magnetic Pets - Deluxe / Debris
A tolerable record, they show some enthusiasm.

19 NE Bicep - Aura
Good one
20 NE Kelly Clarkson - Move You
There is no ''much better'' category with Kelly C,. all she ever released was cheap rubbish.
2 NE OMD - The Punishment Of Luxury
Quite good, a bit moody,
5 NE John Mark McMillan - Mercury and Lightning
The authenticity can be reached by those who look hard enough for it. Meanwhile, John tried a little bit.

I don't want comments like the Kelly Clarkson one on my chart, thanks. If you're gonna be that dismissive of an entire career, better to not say anything. She's just not to your taste and i don't expect her to be.

All I've heard from Kelly C. was ''here is my pop song, show me the money'' in a various forms. I don't thing this has ever resonated with me, a person of no wave/coldwave background. And I still remember that Norwegian bloke rightfully beating her during the World Idol days,

Please do.

I'm not in a mood. He made a sweeping untrue statement about an artists' entire body of work. She's one of the most universally acknowledged talented pop show winners there's ever been so it's a dumb thing to say. Her Christmas album in particular was great work and rooted in "real" music. If Mariah can get away with peddling the same song year after year then Clarkson should be given just as much plaudits. If she was only bothered about selling and doing what "the man" says she wouldn't be the big chunky woman she is now.

If you're referencing my comments on Megan McKenna i was getting sick of the snobbery on another forum based on her background and not the music. I hate snobbery. People that don't even bother to listen to the voice or the words and just make assumptions.

I don't see the point in going in to someone's thread and saying something 100% negative (or 70% negative, really). I haven't said a thing in his thread for the past two weeks because there wasn't anything i liked.

Before anyone says, i slated Alt-J because they are within the genres you're both known to like and are fair game.

This is why i don't post as much on the site in general. Didn't think i'd have to fight the old battles in my chart thread.
