Wow, that singer (why have I never heard of her?) on the #1 is hotter than fusion reactor core, at least in the video. Like the song too, although I think I would have liked it even more 15 years ago. Could possibly still smash if I'm in the right mood.

Edit: Wait, what? [from Wikipedia] "Petras became subject of media coverage after undergoing gender transition at a young age."

That's incredibly poor grammar, should be "at an early age".

I've just checked and americans use both unlike brits who prefer the latter. :)

I'm having an absolute frigging nightmare trying to sort out my next chart! I can't remember the last time so many great tracks/singles came out on the same day! :o This unique top 7 is about to be broken in pieces quite badly. :P

TONY'S CRAZY JAM-PACKED HITS CHART 12th MAY 2018

1 NE Against The Current - Strangers Again
AUDIO STREAM VIDEO
2 NE Against The Current - Almost Forgot AUDIO STREAM VIDEO (language)
Image
Strangers Again gets a video on Monday (pic). More exquisite pop, at first i had the Taylor-esque Almost Forgot top but the guitar line of SA overtook it (and it's the designated video so...).

3 1 Kim Petras - Heart To Break VIDEO (3 weeks; peak #1)
I'd expected this to be top for at least a month!

4 NE Kitten - Strange Embrace AUDIO STREAM VIDEO
Image
5 NE Rita Ora, Cardi B, Bebe Rexha and Charli XCX - Girls LYRIC VIDEO
Image
The sleeve gives all the girls equal credit (as it should) so it's not a "featuring" for the purposes of my chart though it is officially as it's from Rita's long-delayed album. Although she had no part in the writing it sounds very Charli and they even debuted it together almost a year ago at Radio 1 live. Rita only charts big here if Charli's around because the bland mainstream sheen (see Ed Sheeran) is dropped.

6 2 Kimbra - Like They Do On The TV VIDEO (3 weeks; peak #2)
7 3 Sarah Reeves - Speechless VIDEO (3 weeks; peak #3)
8 NE Orbital - Tiny Foldable Cities VIDEO / FULL LENGTH GRAT VERSION AUDIO STREAM
9 7 Hatchie - Sleep VIDEO (3 weeks; peak #7)
Robbed of a top 5 hit.

10 NE Childish Gambino - This Is America VIDEO (strong content)
Almost a hundred million views in a week - a stunning cultural touchstone (it's a shame the track itself runs out of steam). As surprise is the key to the video, i've been deliberately non-specific in my content warning but it's not for under 15's.

11 4 The Asteroids Galaxy Tour - Surrender (3 weeks; peak #4)
12 5 Blood Red Shoes - God Complex (3 weeks; peak #5)
13 6 Meg Myers - Numb (3 weeks; peak #6)
14 NE Blissful - Find A Way VIDEO
Svala (last year's Iceland ESC entry) and her synth project. Bit late but current ESC made me find it.

15 15 Tove Styrke - Sway (2 weeks; peak #15)
16 NE Chicane with Tracy Ackerman - Serendipity AUDIO STREAM VIDEO
17 NE Wet - Lately VIDEO
18 8 Kacey Musgraves - Slow Burn (7 weeks; peak #1)
19 9 Lily Kershaw - Another (6 weeks; peak #1)
20 NE Priest - Lost Lions / New King AUDIO STREAMS
Bit late. Rest of the EP has already charted as singles.

21 NE Attlas - Want AUDIO STREAM VIDEO
22 NE Selena Gomez - Back To You LYRIC VIDEO
13 Reasons Why gets a proper promoted single for Season 2 but it's not on the same level as her Only You.

23 16 Jon Hopkins - Everything Connected (3 weeks; peak #16)
24 NE BabyMetal - Distortion VIDEO
25 10 A Perfect Circle - So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish (4 weeks; peak #5)
26 NE Charlotte Hatherley - How Deep Is Your Love? VIDEO
Bit late - i'm re-evaluating it after her latest vid. Spaced-out (literally) Bee Gees cover.

27 NE Justice with Johnny Blake - Stop VIDEO
28 RE Christabelle - Taboo EUROVISION SEMI 2 LIVE (4 weeks; PEAK)
Sadly the only good record this year failed to qualify - for Malta - and their friends the UK couldn't even save it (phone voting in semi 1 only). :(

29 11 Post Precious - Lose Myself (7 weeks; peak #1)
30 12 Wolf Alice - Sadboy (10 weeks; peak #4)
Can't believe this is still being disregarded as a promoted radio single.

31 RE Frightened Rabbit - It's Christmas So We'll Stop AUDIO STREAM VIDEO (11 weeks; peak #4)
2007 single and their best. Singer Scott Hutchison killed himself this week.

32 RE Frightened Rabbit - Get Out VIDEO (7 weeks; peak #18)
33 20 The Slow Readers Club - You Opened Up My Heart (9 weeks; peak #3)
34 NE Anavae - Forever Dancing VIDEO
35 NE League Of Legends ft Against The Current - Legends Never Die VIDEO Live at League Of Legends Worlds 2017 Finals / AUDIO STREAM VIDEO
Bit late. I don't do online gaming and zone out if Chrissy posts anything to do with it. Shame on me as i didn't realise she/they'd done music for this. The game is so big it gets its own artist credit!

36 17 Sarah Reeves - Feel The Waters (14 weeks; peak #1)
37 13 Kim Petras - Hillside Boys (3 weeks; peak #8)
38 14 The Shires - Guilty (3 weeks; peak #14)
39 NE Charlotte Hatherley - Hook You Up VIDEO
Latest vid.

40 18 Roisin Murphy - All My Dreams / Innocence (2 weeks; peak #18)
41 NE Amy Grant - Say It With A Kiss AUDIO STREAM VIDEO
42 NE Wye Oak - It Was Not Natural VIDEO
43 23 Hatchie - Sugar and Spice (6 weeks; peak #13)
44 19 Chvrches with Matt Berninger - My Enemy (11 weeks; peak #3)
45 21 Chvrches - Never Say Die (7 weeks; peak #9)
46 RE Sarah Reeves - Something About You (5 weeks; peak #18)
47 30 Christina Aguilera with Ty Dolla Sign and 2 Chainz - Accelerate (2 weeks; peak #30)
48 NE Gwenno - Eus Keus? VIDEO
49 RE Choir Of Young Believers - Hollow Talk FAN VIDEO (12 weeks; peak #21)
As The Bridge returns for the final series in UK so does the iconic theme. Yes, it only peaked at 21 but it's still potent.

50 29 Charli XCX with Tove Lo and Alma - Out Of My Head (4 weeks; peak #15)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TONY'S ALBUM CHART 12th MAY 2018

1 NE Sarah Reeves - Easy Never Needed You (MA)
SPOTIFY
Image
Bit late (but only by a week this time!). The opening track is a pop stormer. Still baffled that she gets ignored/excluded from Christian charts - currently only Details (here in remixed form) is charting in US. Maybe the fact she tends not to explicitly mention Jesus by name gets her excluded (in terms of UK the OCC has daft rules that only physical sales qualify for some of their genre charts). But the open-ended nature of her material is part of what makes it great. It can stand as great pop or enhanced great pop if you know the meaning.

2 NE The Slow Readers Club - Build A Tower SPOTIFY
Glad to see them charting in UK. Should get the attention Editors get.

3 NE Jon Hopkins - Singularity SPOTIFY
4 1 The Shires - Accidentally On Purpose (3 weeks; peak #1)
5 6 Charli XCX - Number 1 Angel / Pop 2 (combined release) (3 weeks; PEAK)
6 2 Kate Nash - Yesterday Was Forever (6 weeks; peak #1)
7 4 Steffany Gretzinger - Blackout (6 weeks; peak #2)
8 5 Kacey Musgraves - Golden Hour (6 weeks; peak #3)
9 NE Tove Styrke - Sway (MA) SPOTIFY
She's calling it an album but it's really not. 8 tracks - 6 of them singles including a demo of a Lorde cover. It's a compilation / glorified maxi single.

10 10 Tangerine Dream - Quantum Gate (12 weeks; peak #1)
11 NE Middle Kids - Lost Friends SPOTIFY
12 NE Belly - Dove SPOTIFY
13 3 Sleep - Sleep's Holy Mountain (3 weeks; peak #1)
14 NE Plan B - Heaven Before All Hell Breaks Loose SPOTIFY
I miss the aggressiveness. The fact that Radio 2 can playlist him so easily tells you everything.

15 NE Wallows - Spring (MA) SPOTIFY
Dylan Minnette from 13 Reasons Why's indie band.

1 NE Against The Current - Strangers Again
2 NE Against The Current - Almost Forgot
These ones I like and enjoy.
14 NE Blissful - Find A Way
Cute.
28 RE Christabelle - Taboo
I only like the chorus in this one. The verses are pretty generic and typical G;Son for me. The message is powerful but it could have been conveyed better.
34 NE Anavae - Forever Dancing
I was holding it for some quieter day in my chart and a higher debut. Okay-ish, not as instant as it should have been.

32 RE Frightened Rabbit - Get Out
My favourite music video by Frightened Rabbit, great storyline and fits the song perfectly. I am so sad for what happened with Scott.
Frightened Rabbit was the first band I followed on twitter and, as of now, I only follow a dozen or so.

Can you both drop some love in ATC's thread so i don't look crazy?
It's mad that the only threads that get any traction these days are things on the radio or the same half dozen divas.
Even my Orbital and Chicane posts got virtually ignored.

ATC have millions of YT / social media fans yet you'd be forgiven for thinking they hadn't.

26 days from US store. Had to blow dust off the tape deck!
It's nice to have an actual REAL mixtape.

TONY'S HITS CHART 19th MAY 2018

1 1 Against The Current - Strangers Again
VIDEO (2 weeks; peak #1)
Image

2 2 Against The Current - Almost Forgot AUDIO STREAM VIDEO (language) (2 weeks; peak #2)
3 NE Charli XCX with MØ - Porsche AUDIO STREAM VIDEO / LIVE CLIP From MØ's Coachella set
Image
Best track by far on Pop 2. Not a single but i'm making it one. MØ thought it good enough to include in her limited time Coachella set and brought Charli on stage.

4 3 Kim Petras - Heart To Break VIDEO (4 weeks; peak #1)
5 RE Charli XCX with MØ - 3AM (Pull Up) AUDIO STREAM VIDEO (language) (7 weeks; peak #5)
Single from Number 1 Angel returns to original peak.

6 4 Kitten - Strange Embrace AUDIO STREAM VIDEO (2 weeks; peak #4)
7 5 Rita Ora, Cardi B, Bebe Rexha and Charli XCX - Girls LYRIC VIDEO (2 weeks; peak #5)
Charli knocks herself out of the top five!

8 6 Kimbra - Like They Do On The TV VIDEO (4 weeks; peak #2)
9 7 Sarah Reeves - Speechless VIDEO (4 weeks; peak #3)
10 8 Orbital - Tiny Foldable Cities VIDEO (2 weeks; peak #8)
11 9 Hatchie - Sleep VIDEO (4 weeks; peak #7)

Standout track from 13 Reasons Why Season 2 - the final episode party scenes. It follows the similar Rollercoaster by Bleachers which is omitted from the official album.

15 NE Toyah - Telepathic Lover / Our Hearts Still Beat AUDIO STREAMS
To celebrate her 60th birthday she released a new Four From Toyah EP. I like 2 tracks, especially the funky Telepathic Lover.

Tonight, Matthew i'm going to be David Bowie.

28 NE Foals - What Went Down VIDEO (language)
First time on chart for this raging track that startled fans at the time. It's in because it's been used to great effect in 13 Reasons Why Season 2 (but omitted from the OTVST).

29 22 Selena Gomez - Back To You (LYRIC) VIDEO (2 weeks; peak #22)
The scene this features in has rather less impact.

This'll be (campaigned for) Christmas Number One this year. :D

31 35 League Of Legends ft Against The Current - Legends Never Die VIDEO Live at League Of Legends Worlds 2017 Finals (2 weeks; PEAK)
Such a great and tight top 31 that every song/single deserves a link. :D

Singles highlights:
37 NE Christine and The Queens with Dam-Funk - Girlfriend /Damn Dis-Moi

Okay, at first I thought ''Am I searching for that 30 years throwback chart french single I completely forgot about?''...The hook is half-done, should have been better.

47 NE Willie Nelson - Heaven Is Closed

Never thought I'd like a Willie Nelson song. Very nice.

Album highlights:

20 NE Arctic Monkeys - Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino

I see what you did here.

Never thought you'd rate a Willie Nelson song above Chromatics or NIN (unless there's things in your chart i haven't seen yet).
Foals? I presume you charted it at the time?
Still not charting Blood Red Shoes (it's beside Meg Myers on purpose cause they fit) or Hatchie? :o

And yes - i deliberately listened to all the Frightened Rabbit albums (plus Mastersystem) to push the Arctics to a lower position than 14 or 15. Because Haven compiles our album charts and it means they get sixteen points if it's my 15. As i've stated in their thread in Rock it's really not great (though i think it interesting enough to chart).

Regarding FR, i still think that Christmas single is their best song, even after consuming all the albums.

Hatchie has charted multiple times.
Not following NIN music recently, too many indie acts arounds.
Chromatics gonna chart unless I experience rapid memory loss.

I see the pictures are breaking again. :x I've tried several pic sites and none of them seem to be any use. Can't embed videos in long posts, either - i get the blank message error if i try to edit it. You try to add some visuals to brighten up your chart...
