Taylor, Zayn and P!nk <3

It's really shocking to see EVOLVE dropping out and The Script decreasing like hell. What happened?

Hope you’re feeling better! :D

Tansike wrote:Oh no, i didn't mean that touching, i meant normal. Well, at least it should be normal, between two partners, but it probably still isn't for most other people, if that makes sense.
Ha, I think I hear you. So hand-holding, occasional kisses, etc.? You mentioned that his touching in public "is already weird to me" - is that because your previous partner didn't show any affection in public?

Tansike wrote::lol: Well he probably didn't realize that i was doing it as we just had a short discussion about it yesterday where i was doing the 'bang bang' song from 'How I Met Your Mother' (don't know if you know it...) and he was surprised i was singing (well, if you can call that singing  ). No i don't remember, it were more than just one actually. I think one of them was "Symphony" (at least the verses... the chorus is impossible to hit for me  )
 That song's a new one on me, and although it's obviously not as epic as Selena's "Bang Bang Bang", I would've loved to hear your rendition! Were you singing it because it applies to the two of you...? ;)

Tansike wrote:Haha you know, i'm always (or at least most of the times when it comes to other stuff or other people) the glass-full-guy. Anyways, "Swish Swish" just got certified with Silver in the UK and still is in the iTunes Top10 there :o
:o Yeah! I briefly checked UK iTunes while commenting on Jake's chart the other day and was shocked to see it still inside the Top 10! I guess the video actually successfully helped to propel interest in the song there.

Tansike wrote:But aren't country fans always the ones supporting male artists in general? I think i read somewhere that country radio for example rarely plays female country artists, and the older they are, the less they get played as well. But i guess we'll see it soon... less than two weeks, so excited for these albums! :D Also, i think Demi is doing the ticket bundle, or something similar at least... so i'd definitely place my bet on Demi right now.
Country radio is notoriously male-dominated, at least in recent years, but I thought that country females could still sell reasonably well. After looking into it, though, I guess women are really struggling sales-wise too: of the Top 10 best-selling country albums of 2016, only one was by a woman (Carrie's Storyteller.) Apparently it was the same story in 2015 too, with Carrie being the only solo female in the Top 10 best-selling albums. Damn, I didn't realize things were THAT bad for ladies in that genre :( That doesn't bode so well for Shania, especially if Demi's doing a bundle too...

Tansike wrote:At least i hope it's not his lead single. It's already falling down the charts...
Agreed. Even if was actually meant to be the lead all along, I'm sure it'll be given the "Focus" treatment now...

Tansike wrote:That's great news for "Now Or Never", however i'm not that disappointed to hear this about "Bad At Love". It's actually one of the weaker songs on "hopeless fountain kingdom" for me. "Strangers", "Heaven In Hiding" or "Sorry" would be my favorite picks for singles.
Yeah, all three of those sound like they have more hit potential than "Bad At Love" :x Especially "Strangers." Many thanks for sharing those!
Hopefully she can get the era back on track with the third single selection - it'd be such a shame for her to hit a brick wall right after scoring her biggest hit to date (besides "Closer") with "Now Or Never."

• I'm holding off on downloading anything else from reputation (besides LWYMMD) before the album drops (unless she releases the official second single), so I've only heard "…Ready For It?" a couple of times. I'm definitely on-board with the chorus, but I'll need some more time to warm up to the rest of it...

• Woah - "Too Good At Goodbyes" debuted at the exact same spot on Jake's chart, your chart, AND mine!
• Speaking of debuts, I'm really glad to see you showing "Let Me Go" some love! Hailee's parts had me hooked pretty instantly: "all of the mess I maAaAade, someone you don't have to chaAaAange..." She's definitely redeemed herself after the thoroughly-underwhelming "Most Girls." ;)
• "Dusk Till Dawn" isn't hooking me at all, though  Really not a fan of that "heEeEeEeEeEeEeEre" that lasts forever and a day...
:o Demi seems to be struggling even harder than Miley on your chart this era! (Not that I mind, since I prefer "Malibu" + "Younger Now" to any of Demi's latest three singles...)

Yet another chart that I was totally ready for, Tansike! :D

I definitely prefer "...Ready for It?" to "Look What You Made Me Do," so it's great to see that one at #1. I like "Love So Soft" even more, though. I was pleased with both that one and "Move You," so I definitely think we're getting something stronger than Piece by Piece from Kelly this time around.

I'm not crazy about the other new entries this week. Both Sam Smith and Zayn are capable of, and have delivered, better.

Tansike wrote:Amazing news (and i just commented on your personal charts where it already charted, yay! :D ). The album is one of the best ones of the year so far, and if you liked the singles, you surely will like some album tracks as well. From the ones that are left, "One Mississippi" is easily my favorite one :)

Oh :( Have you heard the third track, "Swingin' With My Eyes Closed", which got released last friday? It's another nice tune, but then it's my least fave of the three so far so i'm not too sure what you'll think about it when you already weren't the biggest fan of "Life's About To Get Good" and "Poor Me"
I actually listened to the Shania recommendation, but I didn't like the song. Even if I don't like the music, I'm still rooting for Shania to have a successful comeback era. I don't know how likely that is at this stage. :(
Franklin’s music profoundly touched and changed the world, because over and over it offered that bridge to salvation, to freedom.

Glad you like these 8-)

Well, as for The Script, i'm just not that into the album. I only randomly checked it out... as for "Evolve", no current single and i've played it too often in the past few weeks, and i just liked it less than all other albums on my charts right now. Just bought tickets for their tour next year though :)

phoenix98 wrote:Hope you’re feeling better! :D
Thanks and yes, I’m feeling better now :)

phoenix98 wrote:Ha, I think I hear you. So hand-holding, occasional kisses, etc.? You mentioned that his touching in public "is already weird to me" - is that because your previous partner didn't show any affection in public?
Oh not even that. Just like hugging each other or he touching my back etc… well, I’m simply not someone to show these things in public, but my previous partner was also the complete opposite and never showed it in public (and in general wasn’t the type to touch, hug or whatever a lot).

phoenix98 wrote:  That song's a new one on me, and although it's obviously not as epic as Selena's "Bang Bang Bang", I would've loved to hear your rendition! Were you singing it because it applies to the two of you...? ;)
 no comment! :P

…if this is the reason why it’s so high, then I’m really surprised as the video is everything but a good one, at least IMO. Anyways, I’m happy, the song is really good and deserved way more success than it got. At least it’s still hanging on a bit in the US and some other countries as well, so it’s not a complete flop like peaking in the first week and leaving the charts soon after the debut.

phoenix98 wrote:Country radio is notoriously male-dominated, at least in recent years, but I thought that country females could still sell reasonably well. Wow, I also had no idea it’s THAT male dominated. Makes me even happier for Carrie though, as she deserves that success. Funny you mentioned her though, as I’m currently getting a little bit back into her latest album and ‘wikipedia’-ed it lately and saw that despite it being a success, it sold not even half of that the previous album from her sold :o
Anyways, Shania is doing the ticket bundle too iirc. I think she’s really difficult to estimate at that point. 100k should be a safe number somehow, but then I wouldn’t be surprised if she does 50-60k as no one knows she’s releasing something OR even the other way round, if she’s doing something like 200k or more since she used to be such a huge album seller in the US. Not long until we will find it out :)

Glad you liked these three songs, and yes for “Strangers”. They also already performed it live, so I was surprised they didn’t chose it as the second single. “Bat At Love” seems to be an odd choice. Anyways, I’m sure she’s releasing a few more singles so we’ll see, and “Bat At Love” is currently climbing in the US (#27 on iTunes, #77 on Spotify).

Glad you already enjoy it more or less after just a couple of times, and I’m sure you’ll love it once the album drops. I’ll probably do the same with the upcoming promo singles though, as I don’t want to have heard half of the album when it’s out… I want everything at once…

YES! “Move You” is cute and all but it completely leaves me cold  So I’m all for “Love So Soft”. I hope it’s a hit for her, it’s so catchy!

Still a bop <3
btw “Broken Glass” finally entered the Spotify Top200 in Canada (#192), fingers crossed that’s just the start and not already the end

Really? :o Didn’t have the time to check the charts of you guys out yet but that’s incredible! <3

I love Hailee’s parts on “Let Me Go” and its position this week may be a good surprise for you. Let’s hope she’s releasing an album soon, she already released many great tunes so I’m here for a full record.

Not too sad to hear this about “Dusk Till Dawn”. It was better than I thought it would be, but it’s still far from a very good song…

Yeah… but somehow I’m still more excited about Demi’s album than for Miley’s album :o

Thanks a lot :D

It’s still difficult for me to chose the better one, it depends on my mood lately. But “Look What You Made Me Do” got older much fast than I expected, that’s for sure. Very glad to hear this about “Love So Soft”, definitely a great lead single by Kelly and yes, I’m really excited for her album :D

I agree about Sam, however I’m still everything but a big Zayn fan…

week 38/2017 – 21 september 2017 The Eagle Flies Alone

Image
    Singles Top40
The top of the Singles Top40 has been a mixture of rock and pop songs lately, and each genre seems to switch each week, with “Lvgvs” hitting the top spot five weeks ago, Taylor’s “Look” four weeks ago, followed by “The Dark Element”, and Taylor did it again with “Ready” last week. And that model goes on, with a rock song hitting the top spot. Followed by a very quiet week, Arch Enemy’s “The Eagle Flies Alone” jumps a spectacular 30 places, up 31-1, to become their first chart topper ever. Their previous single “The World Is Yours” falls down again (25-32), following its push through the album release the last time.

The highest of five new arrivals nearly made it to the top, and that’s “The Gate”, the newest release by Icelandic genius Björk. With its debut at #2, it becomes her very first notation on the singles charts, up against four Top10 entries on the album charts, making her one of just a very few artists with more album entries than song entries. Only a few weeks after they scored just a short Top10 hit with “Bring Me To Life (Synthesis)”, Evanescence are already back in that part of the charts with “Imperfection”, the first ‘real’ single of their upcoming project “Synthesis”. The song enters at #7, the same position as “Bring Me To Life”, which also benefits a little bit from that new song and re-enters the charts at #33.

One Direction failed to score a Top10 entry during their career, and so far, all of the members also failed to do so with their solo releases. Two were really close, with “Sign Of The Times” by Harry Styles and “Get Low” by Liam Payne (and Zedd) both peaking at #11, with the latter being the most successful song attached to One Direction. It looks like it is underdog Niall Horan who seems to become the most consistent one of the former members though, as his third single “Too Much To Ask” becomes his second Top20 hit by debuting at #14, one spot higher than the peak of his previous release “Slow Hands”. He will release his solo debut album “Flicker” in a month as the third of the guys to do so, and both releases by Harry Styles and Zayn peaked at #6 with just three and four weeks in the Top20, so it’s currently expected to see Niall doing better than this. He is, however, releasing in a very busy week together with Lindsey Stirling and Marina Kaye. Just behind Niall, there’s the fourth arrival of the week, called “Think About That”, the new single by Jessie J. The singer is starting to prepare the release of her fourth album “R.O.S.E.”, and while “Real Deal” completely flopped as a first taste (#40, one week), the debut for “Think About That” is already much better, but still very low considering she has scored six Top10 hits prior these two, and her third album “Sweet Talker” spent a massive 40 weeks on the Album Top20. The fifth and final debut goes to Nick Jonas, who enters the charts at #21 with “Find You”.

Kelly Clarkson stays at #3 with “Love So Soft”, followed by “…Ready For It?” by Taylor Swift (1-4) and “Ocean Away” by Loreen (2-5). Hailee Steinfeld (and all other artists who are included) scores her highest peaking hit ever, as “Let Me Go” increases 14-6. Her debut hit “Love Myself” held that title so far, as it peaked at #10 nearly two years ago. Tori Amos’ “Up The Creek” (8-8), Rachel Platten’s “Broken Glass” (5-9) and The Dark Element’s “The Dark Element” (4-10) make the Top10 complete.

Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” had a strong start, but already leaves the Top10 after just three weeks (6-11). Sam Smith’s drop for “Too Good At Goodbyes” is even worse (9-18), with Zara Larsson’s “Only You” (7-13) and Eluveitie’s “Lvgvs” (10-16) leaving the Top10 as well. The only new entry on the album charts – Anastacia’s “Evolution” – brings back “Caught In The Middle”, the current single by the singer (#31), which has pretty much underperformed so far. Last but not least, while Selena Gomez’ “Fetish” is about to leave the charts (34-38), the track gets certified with Gold this week.

Arch Enemy’s “The Eagle Flies Alone” is the obvious biggest climber while Fifth Harmony’s “He Like That” drops 26-40 as the biggest loser of the week.

    Album Top20
In probably the last quiet week of the year, only one new arrival makes the Album Top20, but it leaves the Top2 unimpressed, as both, Arch Enemy and Tori Amos spend a second week there. However, they both switch positions, with Arch Enemy’s “Will To Power” becoming a number one album for the death melodic metal band (2-1), while “Native Invader” dips 1-2 for Tori Amos. The new entry belongs to Anastacia, who has released her seventh album “Evolution”, which debuts at #3. Her last album “Resurrection” opened atop the album charts, however off the back of the Platinum certified hit “Stupid Little Things” and the number one hit “Lifeline”.

Making a huge impression on this weeks charts as well is german Schlager-pop singer Vanessa Mai. While she currently has no single on the charts, her second solo album “Regenbogen” jumps 13-4, surpassing its previous peak at #7. This is mostly due to the album track “Schönster Moment”, which was by far the most played song of the week with around 50 plays. The rest of the Top10 is nothing new, with “Evocation II: Pantheon” by Eluveitie (3-5), “Nude” EP by Loreen (4-6), “So Good” by Zara Larsson (6-7), “The Solace System” EP by Epica (5-8), “hopeless fountain kingdom” by Halsey (8-9) and Fifth Harmony’s self-titled album (7-10).

While “Praying” may be a huge hit, it’s probably a bit surprising to see Kesha’s “Rainbow” already leaving the Top10 after just five week (9-11). Lana Del Rey’s “Lust For Life” has to leave the upper half of the charts as well (10-13). Other than that, Carrie Underwood makes a rather random re-entry at #18 with “Storyteller”.

Thanks for coming by, and yes, the song basically caught me by surprise last week. There wasn't a big competition as i didn't play that many songs (mainly just full albums) but "The Eagle Flies Alone" was the one which kept on being stuck in my head :)

Also glad to hear it made your Top20, that's really cool :D

Hi Tansike :D

1 (31) Arch Enemy – The Eagle Flies Alone

Gosh! :o I really wasn't expecting to see this rocket all the way to #1. I think you already know what i think of the singers...well, singing? I'm mesmerised by the whole thing but those vocals grate on me so bad. :(

4 (1) Taylor Swift – …Ready For It?

This was quite a surprise too, i was expecting #6 to be its peak but alas it managed to climb all the way to the top. A part of me still thinks it was released too soon after Look what you made me do so hasn't really performed that well. But saying that i read it's now been confirmed as the second single after all. :o So i wonder if we're gonna get a music video. It could end up having a really peculiar chart run if that happens.

6 (14) Hailee Steinfeld & Alesso feat. Florida Georgia Line & watt – Let Me Go

I don't know how i managed to miss this last week but seeing the track #1 in Paul's chart caught my attention and now its top 10 here. Nonetheless, it enters my new chart today, better late than never! :P

14 (NEW) Niall Horan – Too Much To Ask

<3 I love how this song really seems to have connected with people on UK Mix. I do hope this becomes another successful single for Niall.

21 (NEW) Nick Jonas – Find You

I just posted in Paul's chart about this song. I do like it but i feel like if Nick is gonna get another top 10 single in my chart he's gonna need to go all out to deliver a really strong pop song. After the lukewarm success of Remember i told you i have a feeling it's not gonna happen. :(

I was surprised as well by how much i started to like this, and yes, i already know your thoughts about it  At least it kinda makes an Impression, that's still better than making no Impression at all 8-)

You're not the only one thinking that way, as i think it was released too soon too. In some countries "...Ready For It?" flops because everyone is still checking out LWYMMD, while in some others it seems "Ready" kinda stops LWYMMD from being more successful, so it's a lose-lose situation IMO. Anyways, i've started to get over the song really fast last week so there's a big drop coming...

Yes, better late than never - and this is easily Hailee's best effort to date :o

I hope so too, simply because he seems to be a nice guy, but as for myself, i'm not the biggest fan of the song yet and after this great debut, it's likely to take a dive this week. Maybe his upcoming album release will stabilize it again.

While i agree on "Remember I Told You" being weak, "Find You" caught me by surprise and i really like it. I hope he can get at least a moderate hit with it :)

Interesting number one! I had no clue that Arch Enemy has released sonething new! Personally, I am not a huge fan of the growls. Don't get me wrong, I like them from time to time but I find it utterly exhausting to have to face them for the entire track.
Anyway, it was pretty cool to see them live. I will probably check their latest release on Spotify at least.

Since The Dark Element released a new track, I don't think AE will stau on top, though.

Björk has always been too artsy-fartsy for me and sadly, I dislike the new release.

Taylor and Loreen arw holding on well which is a surprise since no music videos have been released.

The new Evanescence track is a huge letdown :(

Niall's new single is flawless, though. Great debut! I hope you will learn to love it!

Sam's drop is tragic. How did his previous singles on your chart?

And yes at Anastacia making a comeback! And no, your text lies. "Fetish" CANNOT leave the charts ♡

^ oh, so this means you were already familiar with Arch Enemy? I had no idea! I only know their new stuff and one other old(er) song, i think "Nemesis" what its name. Anyways, i thought the same when i started to listen to the album, however it turned out to be more listenable than expected, and now i have no problems listening to a whole album by them (and with growls) :)

We'll see tomorrow :)

I think "The Gate" is quite good, however Björk is not an artist who has a big replay value, so after the 'new single' effect in the first week i think she'll disappear quite fast on my charts...

No video needed for "Ocean Away", it's still so beautiful. A shame it never grew on you

Really? I love "Imperfection" :o

Not sure about that. Maybe the album release will help a bit, as i'm low-key excited for "Flicker".

That's Sam Smith's discography
All of his solo songs went to the Top10. That said, "Too Good At Goodbyes" is definitely doing worse than most of his other singles, and his 3rd week drop will be much more shocking than the 2nd week drop...

I'm afraid you won't be happy when it comes to "Fetish"...

Yeah, Arch Enemy toured with Nightwish through Europe last time. Didn't you see them live too? - I was pretty impressed (and kinda shocked) that it's a woman growling xD - I need to give the new album a spin or two ;)

Wow, so "Too Good At Goodbyes" is definitely his worst performing solo single and it's the freaking lead of his upcoming album! You really should feel in love with the track soon. At least, it got a Top 10 peak. And the beautiful music video didn't have any effect on you?

Oh, shame on me :o :o :o Of course, i saw them too, and was blown away by Alissa's energy - how could i forgot?!?! :o :o :o
And i thought "Demons In You" by Tarja was the reason why i started to like Alissa / Arch Enemy, but damn, it was actually that concert which made me interested.

Yes, it's not performing that well so far. And believe me, you'll be shocked about its drop tomorrow  Anyways, i haven't seen the video yet, as i don't check out that many videos. But my partner discovered it on my playlist yesterday and immediately loved it, and now there's a chance he'll sing it with his choir so there's a chance this may grow back on me as well

Glad to hear it! (Though I guess I should've known you were healthy again based on that pic of you out jogging...)

Tansike wrote:Oh not even that. Just like hugging each other or he touching my back etc… well, I’m simply not someone to show these things in public, but my previous partner was also the complete opposite and never showed it in public (and in general wasn’t the type to touch, hug or whatever a lot).
Even when you two were alone? Hmmm...was your ex a closeted hetero? I really can't make sense of any man who's into men not wanting to touch, hug, or whateve you a lot... :-?

Tansike wrote:…if this is the reason why it’s so high, then I’m really surprised as the video is everything but a good one, at least IMO. Anyways, I’m happy, the song is really good and deserved way more success than it got. At least it’s still hanging on a bit in the US and some other countries as well, so it’s not a complete flop like peaking in the first week and leaving the charts soon after the debut.
Yeah, it could've been even worse (like poor "Bon Appétit"), but this era has definitely turned out pretty shockingly for Katy's standards.

Tansike wrote:Wow, I also had no idea it’s THAT male dominated.

Yeah :( Admittedly, I didn't pay much attention to the Storyteller era (partially due to being really underwhelmed by "Smoke Break", and the other singles I checked out still weren't enough to reel me in.) Speaking of Wikipedia, it looks like the singles all did well at country radio, so I guess the declining market is mostly to blame for her big sales dip.

Ah, I can imagine a Shania "comeback" tour selling well, so she might still have a real chance after all! It's been a while since there was a race on the albums chart that really caught my attention, so this will be interesting to watch unfold...

Tansike wrote:That song was at least a very good one though :P

Tansike wrote:Glad you liked these three songs, and yes for “Strangers”.
Yeah, even though I'm still not all that into it, it looks like I might have misjudged its hit potenital. It's up No. 71 ---> No. 61 in its third week on the Hot 100, so we shall see...

Tansike wrote:Glad you already enjoy it more or less after just a couple of times, and I’m sure you’ll love it once the album drops. I’ll probably do the same with the upcoming promo singles though, as I don’t want to have heard half of the album when it’s out… I want everything at once…
**Nod** Definitely makes the release more exciting/helps build the hype even higher.

Tansike wrote:I love Hailee’s parts on “Let Me Go” and its position this week may be a good surprise for you. Let’s hope she’s releasing an album soon, she already released many great tunes so I’m here for a full record.
:o  I'd forgotten that we still haven't gotten a proper album from her, since "Most Girls" and now "Let Me Go" feel like the start of her second "era."

Interesting contrasts with your #1s lately! Just listening to the Arch Enemy one now and while I don't dislike the overall sound, the vocals don't really work for me. I much prefer "Avalanche" which I was "forced to" pay attention to because of FSC. :)

Great to see that "Ready for It..." made it to #1 last week! I didn't really think it would happen when I commented that it should be higher than "Look ...". The difference between those songs is huge for me. While "Ready for It..." seems to be stuck at #6 on my chart it could easily have gone #1 in lower competition. "Look ..." quickly went from being "not really close to the top 30" to "not anywhere near any top x, (almost) regardless of the value of x".

Yes, even then, which was also one of the reason why I felt kinda alone despite being together with him. I missed it to be ‘loved’ which is actually really horrible to feel that way when you’re in a relationship. Haha I don’t think he was, his parents are similar and maybe that’s the way he grew up, so it’s him. That’s okay and maybe he just needs someone who is the same, or someone who is able to ‘change’ him there.

Funny thing is my current partner is completely different and sometimes it’s even too much for me, because I’m not used to it

phoenix98 wrote:Yeah, it could've been even worse (like poor "Bon Appétit"), but this era has definitely turned out pretty shockingly for Katy's standards.
Still a thing I don’t understand, as “Bon Appétit” would be my favorite single of “Witness” so far, and its video was a hit as well, so it’s really strange how this is the biggest flop of the album. I agree, who would have expected that Katy would flop with a new era like a year ago?

phoenix98 wrote:Yeah :( Admittedly, I didn't pay much attention to the Storyteller era (partially due to being really underwhelmed by "Smoke Break", and the other singles I checked out still weren't enough to reel me in.) Oh that’s kinda sad as it’s definitely my favorite album by Carrie and I still love to listen to it every now and then. Have you heard “Church Bells”? It’s easily the best track of the album and was released as the third single. And did you like her in the past?
Yes, that was most likely the main reason. Plus the singles also didn’t sell as much as most of her previous singles used to do, so while they did well on country radio, it seemed like they didn’t click with the non-country audience, at least not as much as her previous stuff did.

Yeah, this will be very interesting to follow, I’m so excited! I say Shania #1 on the Sales Chart, Demi #1 on the SPS Chart. I’m afraid Miley will pull disappointing numbers…

Good news! I’m still rooting for it to become a hit simply because I adore the album and think it deserves attention, so everything that helps is good, even though the song is flopping on my own charts.

phoenix98 wrote:**Nod** Definitely makes the release more exciting/helps build the hype even higher.
Yep, definitely! :D

phoenix98 wrote: :o  I'd forgotten that we still haven't gotten a proper album from her, since "Most Girls" and now "Let Me Go" feel like the start of her second "era."
Well we got like three or four versions of the “Haiz” EP but that was it  I also see these two songs as her second ‘era’ to be honest :)

Yes, it is  Well, I didn’t expect it to be a much liked #1 but I really enjoyed it the most of all songs last week, so it ‘had’ to be my number one. I’m surprised by myself how much I enjoy their music

Yes and no. Yes to “Starving” never cracking my Top10, but no to her first Top10, as that was “Love Myself”, which peaked at #10 (already two years ago – time flies! :o )

It’s also Rachel’s longest running Top10 hit now and will most likely become her biggest hit EVER on my charts! :D

Aww, that’s sad to hear. I hope “Find You” grows on you more, as it did on me and that will be seen on my upcoming chart.

Yes, “He Like That” seems like a poor second single choice to me, “Angel” would have been much better. Anyways, both song will have the same fate this week…

Thanks a lot :D

Magnus wrote:Interesting contrasts with your #1s lately!

I know! Always changes between pop tracks and rock tracks  I’m glad to hear you don’t dislike the overall sound, that’s already a lot more than what I would expect by most reactions to a song like this  And yes, the vocals are quite special. Glad you enjoy “Avalanche” more (and thanks for your points there! :D )

Loved it for that one week, however, I think you’ll be disappointed this week as I got over it very quickly out of a sudden, and now I prefer “Look” again. Kinda sad that one makes absolutely no impression on your right now, but there’s still hope… I mean, maybe it will grow on you once the album comes out?

week 39/2017 – 28 september 2017 a Sweet Mystery

Image
    Singles Top40
It’s a very busy week with nine new arrivals and three re-entries on the Singles Top40, basically starting the busiest time of the year, as from now on it’s likely to see lots of entries on both charts every week. It’s expected to see six debuts in the Album Top20 next week alone, for example. As for the singles charts, the crown doesn’t go back to the pop genre, as it’s another rock song which debuts straight atop the charts, and that’s “My Sweet Mystery”, the second single by The Dark Element, a collaboration between the two musicians Anette Olzon and Jani Liimatainen. It follows “The Dark Element”, which topped the charts three weeks ago but already slips 10-12 in its fourth week this time. “My Sweet Mystery” has a phenomenal start, as despite being released only on monday, it already got played around 80 times.

The second highest new entry is a surprising one, as it belongs to Noah Cyrus. While her older sister Miley is currently struggling with charts success by scoring three entries in a row which didn’t top the charts and weren’t certified at all – which never happened to her whole discography so far – it’s the opposite for Noah, who keeps on becoming more successful with each release. Her last single “I’m Stuck” not only became her first Top20 hit ever with a #17 peak, it also stayed on the charts for a pretty good nine weeks. Her new single “Again” now makes a big jump by entering the charts at a stellar #3, and also becomes the very first notation for the featured XXXTENTACION. Also debuting inside the Top10 is “Merci quand même”, the first single in French by Marina Kaye. With its debut at #6 it becomes her sixth Top10 hit, keeping her Top10 ratio by 100%.

The other new entries this week: Macklemore’s new album “Gemini” brings his new single “Good Old Days” featuring Kesha to #14 while Fergie’s new album “Double Dutchess” is the reason behind the debut for “You Already Know” at #19, which features Nicki Minaj. Both releases are also responsible for the re-entries for “Glorious” at #21 and “M.I.L.F. $” at #36. Canadian R&B singer Melanie Fiona finally makes a comeback with “Remember U” at #21, Anne-Marie arrives at #29 with “Heavy”, Emeli Sandé disappoints with “Starlight” at #38 while Gwen Stefani owns the very first Christmas entry for this season as she’s new at #39 with “You Make It Feel Like Christmas”, which becomes the very first notation ever for her partner and country singer Blake Shelton. The third and final re-entry is due to another album release: “Sound Of Walking Away” is back at #34 for Kerli and Illenium.

Arch Enemy’s “The Eagle Flies Alone” slips 1-2, Hailee Steinfeld’s “Let Me Go” (6-4) and Evanescence’s “Imperfection” (7-5) both reach new peaks, Rachel Platten stays quite stable with “Broken Glass” (9-8) and Kelly Clarkson’s “Love So Soft” falls 3-10. There are another two songs in the Top10, but both of them are climbing into that part. The first one is Nick Jonas’ “Find You”, which is up 21-7. It’s already his second highest peaking song ever now, and a big increase following his last single “Remember I Told You”, which peaked at #40. The other one is “Think About That” by Jessie J, as it’s up 15-9, becoming Jessie’s 13th Top10 hit.

Due to all these new entries and climbers in the Top10, there are also some big drops on the charts. Loreen suffers quite a lot, as both of her songs – “Ocean Away” (5-11) and “Jungle” (17-24) – fall quite a few spots. However, there are far worse drops. Taylor Swift’s “…Ready For It?” drops 4-16, Tori Amos’ “Up The Creek” is down 8-17, Björk’s “The Gate” tumbles down 2-20, Niall Horan’s “Too Much To Ask” decreases 14-27, Halsey’s “Bad At Love” falls 19-37 while Sam Smith’s “Too Good At Goodbyes” is even down 18-40.

Nick Jonas’ “Find You” is the biggest climber, while Sam Smith’s “Too Good At Goodbyes” is the biggest loser this week.

.
    Album Top20
While there are three debuts on the charts this week, none of them really made a big impression, so it was easy for Arch Enemy to defend the top spot for a second week with “Will To Power”. The highest debut goes to Macklemore, who arrives at #2 with “Gemini”, his third album overall and first one without Ryan Lewis. The last album was a big flop, as it only peaked at #10 and already left the charts completely after that one week, while the debut “The Heist” peaked at #2 as well and went Gold. Former Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie gets her first album notation with “Double Dutchess” at #3. It’s the follow-up to “The Dutchess”, which was released eleven years ago. Last but not least, American DJ and producer Illenium has an entry at #5 with his “Awake”.

The rest of the Top10 keeps on being nothing too new, however for the last week, as a staggering six albums are likely to debut inside the Top10 next week. “Native Invader” by Tori Amos (2-4), “Evolution” by Anastacia (3-6), “Nude” EP by Loreen (6-7), “Evocation II: Pantheon” by Eluveitie (5-8), “Regenbogen” by Vanessa Mai (4-9) and “So Good” by Zara Larsson (7-10) are still in the upper half.

After four months and the most impressive chartrun of the year so far, Halsey’s “hopeless fountain kingdom” has to leave the Top10 for its very first time (9-11). That’s still a good placement considering the current single “Bad At Love” is far from being a big hit. Epica’s “The Solace System” EP (8-13) and Fifth Harmony’s self-titled album (10-15) are leaving the upper half as well. Other than that, there are two new certifications, as Eluveitie’s album and Kesha’s “Rainbow” (11-14) both go Gold this week.

Expected debut for "My Sweet Mystery". Personally, I think it's a bit too happy/cheesy for a Symhonic Metal track. It sounds more like a Power Metal track and the cheesiest pop track of all-times having a baby together.. Anyway, it's super catchy and I like it as well! - (I prefer the self-titled track, though). I can't wait for their album!

It seems that your Top 5 is very "dark" this week since Arch Enemy and Evanescence round up your Top 5.

Selena and Sam's drops are a crime, though!

I still can't get into Fergie but it's great to see Maclemore debuting!

Fergie's new album is solid. :D

That Nicki duet isn't even the best one on the album.

Haha, sounds like the perfect description to me! I know it's cheesy but i already expected their project to be cheesy, so i'm fine with it. Plus it has a killer chorus/melody, so i can live with these lyrics 8-)

True. There were some good releases coming from the rock genre lately which is cool.

One of them will have a GREAT upcoming week as it seems...

I think both albums are solid, but i prefer Macklemore's one more. I mean, i ask myself if this is all that Fergie had to come up with after 11 years? :-?

Yeah i agree with Fergie, however i expected a lot more after such a long break :(

Glad to hear you enjoy it. I obviously love Anette, and this is definitely a nice surprise to me as i didn't expect it to be that strong. It's a bit cheesy, but still symphonic rock at its best IMO
