Here begins my countdown of my favourite songs of 2012. As usual the chart is compiled on a points system where by a week at #50 will score a song 1 point up to a week at #1 scoring 50 points.

Before we begin here's a look at last years top 10:

Image
Top 10 Of 2011
1 LMFAO FT.NATALIA KILLS- CHAMPAGNE SHOWERS
1 NICKI MINAJ - SUPER BASS
3 DJ FRESH FT.SIAN EVANS - LOUDER
4 CLARE MAGUIRE - THE SHIELD AND THE SWORD
5 DAVID GUETTA FT.NICKI MINAJ - TURN ME ON
6 FLO RIDA FT.ETTA JAMES - GOOD FEELING
7 DEVLIN FT.YASMIN - RUNAWAY
8 CHASE & STATUS FT.DELILAH - TIME
9 KANYE WEST FT.RIHANNA - ALL OF THE LIGHTS
10 TIESTO VS.DIPLO FT.BUSTA RHYMES - CMON

This year 521 songs have appeared in my personal top 50, sitting at the bottom with just a single point each is Moby's "The Right Thing" which was ending its 2011 chart run, and the only new song to spend just a week at #50, "Crew Love" by Drake.

This year four #1s miss my final 100, they are:

Underworld - Calibans Dream (#148)
Yolanda Be Cool - Before Midnight (#126)
Katy B - Got Paid (#124)
Solange - Losing You (#106)

Though Katy and Yolanda are still very much at the start of their chart runs.

These are the ten songs that just miss my list this year:

Image

101 CIARA - GOT ME GOOD
102 JODIE CONNOR FT.BUSTA RHYMES - TAKE YOU THERE
103 KARMIN - BROKENHEARTED
104 RIHANNA FT.CHRIS BROWN - BIRTHDAY CAKE
105 THREE DRIVES - LETTING YOU GO
106 SOLANGE - LOSING YOU
107 JOSS STONE - WHILE YOU'RE OUT THERE LOOKING FOR SUGAR
108 LITTLE MIX - WINGS
109 REN HARVIEU - OPEN UP YOUR ARMS
110 SAM SPARRO - I WISH I NEVER MET YOU

2012 was quite awful for me. Anyway, good to see "Losing You".

Wow at All Of The Lights ending up in your top 10 last year. The song is truly epic.

Sad for Birthday Cake missing your top 100.

But I'm looking forward to see your whole list.

100 KOSHEEN - GET A NEW ONE [220pts]
Image
Peak #16

This is the first time that Kosheen have appeared in my top 100 of the year, despite some success in my personal chart over the years.

#100 Get A New One
#330 Spies

99 ALEXANDRA BURKE - LET IT GO [220pts]
Image
Peak #5

Here's the first of 2 appearances this year from Alexandra, in previous years she's been #55 of 2009 (Bad Boys) and #59 of 2010 (Start Without You).

98 DAVID GUETTA FT.SIA - SHE WOLF (FALLING TO PIECES) [223pts]
Image
Peak #5

David Guetta has scored 6 charting hits on my personal chart this year, this is the first of four to make the top 100, and brings him up to a total of 15 appearances over the years.

97 WILEY FT.SKEPTA, JME & MS D - CAN YOU HEAR ME? (AYAYA) [223pts]
Image
Peak #16

Despite some success over the years, this is the first time Wiley has made my top 100 of the year. Though I only ever did a top 15 of 2008, I guess he'd have a couple of entries that year if I was to do it as a full 100.

#97 Can You Hear Me? (Ayaya)
#149 Heatwave

96 LITTLE BOOTS - EVERY NIGHT I SAY A PRAYER [224pts]
Image
Peak #16

This is the second time Little Boots has made my top 100 of the year, she last appeared in 2009 with "New In Town" (#73). We're still waiting for that second album, but the two singles she had out this year were very promising, if not exactly commercially successful.

#96 Every Night I Say A Prayer
#381 Headphones

Love last years top two as well.

Ah I'm sad at Solange and Ciara missing out but delighted Alexandra made it in, didn't even know you liked her tunes!

Guetta and Wiley are both cracking too, glad someone else rates that above Heatwave!

95 KNIFE PARTY - INTERNET FRIENDS [224PTS]
Image
Peak #1

The first former #1 in the top 100 is from Knife Party who scored the first new chart topper of the year with the barmy "Internet Friends". It was a great year for them as this is their first of 2 appearances.

94 ROBBIE WILLIAMS - CANDY [224PTS]
Image
Peak #9

As Robbie went back to his solo career, he scored 2 chartin hits this year, with the top 9 peaking "Candy" being the biggest. This becomes Robbie's 5th track as lead artist to make my top 100, his first since "Lovelight" made #98 in 2006. His highest appearance so far. Others were "Misunderstood" (#26 2004), "Angels" (#20 1997) and the biggest, "Come Undone" (#14 2003).

#94 Candy
#430 Different

93 DALEY FT.JESSIE J - REMEMBER ME [225PTS]
Image
Peak #8

Here's the first time UK born, Daley has appeared in my best of list by bringing in Jessie J (who actually makes a first ever appearance herself here). This one samples the 1997 hit by Blueboy and was Daley's only charting hit here in 2012.

92 RACHEL CROW - MEAN GIRLS [229 PTS]
Image
Peak #5
A girl who was probably better known for her X Factor US meltdown than her actual singing talent is Rachel Crow who scored a top 5 hit in my chart this year with her debut single, "Mean Girls". It has outperformed both of winner, Melanie Amaro's singles this year, "Respect" (#244) and "Don't Fail Me Now" (#180).

91 MISHA B - HOME RUN [230 PTS]
Image
Peak #8

More X Factor now and this time for the UK's 2011 entrant, Misha B, this is her first of 2 appearances. I thought this track was slightly OTT and messy, but still thought it was quite an exciting start. There'll be another 2011 X Factor stars to come yet too.

Not the best year ever.

90 PINK - TRY [231 PTS]
Image
Peak #3

Pink is only 5 weeks into her chart run in my top 50 but has already amassed enough points to become my, 90th favourite song of the year. It's only Pink's third appearance in my annual lists, following "Most Girls" (#60 in 2000) and "Lady Marmalade" (#44 in 2001). This year "Blow Me" became her first song to make my personal chart in 4 years.

#90 Try
#215 Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

89 MUSE - MADNESS [233 PTS]
Image
Peak #1

Another #1 this time and it's the first of 2 songs to appear from Muse out of three of their songs which made my personal chart this year. This one spent 3 weeks at the top in the Summer, though soon dropped like a stone after my Summer holiday brought all the dance tracks out. It's been a particularly good year for me with Muse as this gave them a first #1 and it's the first year they've ever appeared in my best of list.

88 AIDEN GRIMSHAW - IS THIS LOVE? [241 PTS]
Image
Peak #1

Another chart topper and this time the first of 2 appearances from 2010's X Factor contestant, Aiden Grimshaw. He finally brought out his debut album this year and managed to score 3 hits in my personal chart. This was his debut single and had a surprising D&B feel to it.

87 AFROJACK VS.STEVE AOKI FT.MISS PALMER - NO BEEF [242 PTS]
Image
Peak #8

Here's a dance track that was left over from 2011, it topped my personal chart that year, but was still in the top 10 when 2012 came around. It finished at #45 after 8 weeks in my chart last year, with 11 further weeks around this year, and a combined total of 597 points across the 2 years, it would have finished at #3 on the year end chart this year if it's chart run had been across just the one year.

86 SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA - DON'T YOU WORRY CHILD [244 PTS]
Image
Peak #6

This year saw the end of dance supergroup, Swedish House Mafia who, despite releasing other successful singles, "Antidote" and "Greyhound" this year, only made my weekly chart with this one this year. It's their second appearance in a year end chart for me after "One (Your Name)" made #42 in 2010.

85 SPANK ROCK FT.SANTIGOLD - CAR SONG [245 PTS]
Image
Peak #9

One thing I enjoy about doing these countdowns is it brings back up songs I'd really loved that I'd totally forgotten about, and this year, this has to lead that particular pack. This became Spank Rock's biggest hit here to date, and for me was better than any of Santi's three charting singles from her own album, "The Keepers" (#211), "Disparate Youth" (#258) and "Big Mouth" (#388).

84 RUDIMENTAL FT.JOHN NEWMAN - FEEL THE LOVE [246 PTS]
Image
Peak #1

Here's another chart topper and rarely this is one that reached #1 both in my chart and the official UK Chart. Rudimental scored three charting hits this year and this was the biggest.

#84 Feel The Love (ft.John Newman)
#111 Hell Could Freeze (ft.Angel Haze)
#248 Not Giving In (ft.John Newman & Alex Clare)

83 AVICII - LEVELS (248 PTS)
Image
Peak #16

Like Afrojack in the last bunch, this is a dance #1 from 2011 which hung around long enough in 2012 to end up in this years top 100. It ended up at #80 on last years list, with combined points of 530 across the 2 years, it would have been enough to finish at #7 this year had both years totals been combined. Avicii actually scored 7 hits in my chart in 2012, one of which is still ahead.

82 CHRIS BROWN - DON'T WAKE ME UP [251 PTS]
Image
Peak #3

This year has been a particularly good one for Chris Brown as he brings his total of appearances in my year end charts to 3, one of those is still to come. 2008 would have been a good year too, but as mentioned before, I never did a full top 100 yet that year.

81 AMELIA LILY - YOU BRING ME JOY [256 PTS]
Image
Peak #4

I have a lot of love for Amelia after seeing her at this years Manchester Pride main stage. This was not what I was really expecting her to come out with but it was a great start. Her latest single has recently charted within my top 30 too, so makes a small impression in my year end as well.

80 LOREEN - EUPHORIA [258 PTS]
Image
Peak #1

Another chart topper and this was the winner of this years Eurovision. It was one of 6 songs from the years competition to make my personal chart, and easily the most successful:

Eurovision Hits this year:
#80 Euporia - Loreen
#287 La La Love - Ivi Adamou
#318 Waterline - Jedward
#372 Lautar - Pasha Parfeny
#400 Party For Everybody - Buranovskiye Babushki
#401 Love Will Set You Free - Englbert Humperdinck

79 HOT NATURED FT.ALI LOVE - BENEDICTION [259 PTS]
Image
Peak #2

Shame this awesome track hasn't ended up higher, but as it made its debut at #2 6 weeks before the end of the year, there just wasn't enough time for it to rack up enough points. I'm looking forward to hearing much more like this into 2013.

#79 Benediction
#436 Forward Motion

78 KNIFE PARTY - BONFIRE [260 PTS]
Image
Peak #6

Despite, "Internet Friends" peaking at the top of the chart, Bonfire had more longevity for me and stuck around my chart longer, despite never making the top 5. I reckon there will be plenty more from these guys coming in the next few years.

#78 Knife Party
#95 Internet Friends

77 DRAKE FT.RIHANNA - TAKE CARE [260 PTS
Image
Peak #5

This track just missed out on a place in the top 100 last year, finishing at #120, but this year as it stuck around through the first couple of months of 2012, it managed to score enough points to finish at #77. In total it has had enough points to have made #14 of the year if all it's points across both years were combined. It's Drake's second appearance in one of my year end charts, after "Find Your Love" went a little further at #74 in 2011.

#77 Take Care (ft.Rihanna)
#520 Crew Love (ft.The Weeknd)

76 AFROJACK & SHERMANOLOGY - CAN'T STOP ME
Image
Peak #5

Afrojack scored his third top 5 this year with "Can't Stop Me", which has become his biggest hit in my chart of the year. It was a bit of a grower for me, taking ages to make its debut on my chart and finally climbing to #5. His biggest hit is still "Take Over Control" which was my 2nd favourite song of 2010.

#76 Can't Stop Me (with Shermanology)
#87 No Beef (vs.Steve Aoki)
