"Stereo Love" is the best in 46-50 for me
I have to agree with that - it's my overall number one of 2009, although I see it's allocated to 2010 here. However, that was probably the year of its most widespread success, including the UK. It's interesting that the cover illustration above doesn't
refer to Vika Jigulina, the Russian singer/DJ who made a major contribution to the single - it may be that she wasn't fully credited in some territories?
Three in a row that I very much liked - especially Iceland's very own "E.T." I remember originally hearing "Jungle Drum" as a new entry at 50 in one of the earliest countdowns of the Belgian charts of 2009 on the new radio station MNM - it went on to do a very slow climb, not reaching number one there until over three months later . . . . . For several weeks, I had been puzzled that it always seemed to be cut back to two minutes, a fate which at that time otherwise only affected Flemish-language / "Schlager" type songs - it was quite a while before I discovered that really was all there was of it !
I was as impressed with Sara Bareilles's follow-up as I was with "Love Song" - and very surprised indeed that "Bottle It Up" managed to become a complete flop by comparison pretty much everywhere . . . . .
Although I know the Killers have have many other successes, "Human" felt so far superior to their usual quality for me. What sticks in my mind for this one is that the extent of its lengthy success in the charts of Western Europe was so consistent and closely aligned that it spent all of its seventeen weeks in the Europarade inside the top ten, never ever appearing between 11 and 40 ( 09 06 06 06 06 06 04 05 04 03 04 03 04 05 05 07 10 ) .
