Share your academic life with us. I'm curious to know what a few guys of you do - will they confirm my expectations? :)

Ooooooh, I grew up wanting to be an architect! I actually did a week of work experience at an architectural company during high school. Still love watching architecture and construction documentaries. But it's pretty competitive here and I realised I'd probably never break in. Plus, I've got a friend doing architecture and I swear she doesn't sleep during semester.

I'm not well enough to work at the moment, but prior to that I studied English at a University level, I write poetry and am currently writing a novel (or trying  ); I'd like to be a journalist or an editor some day. Before the past year or so I was a volunteer of helping children and adults with autism, and I co-founded a LGBQT community for two and a half years in my local town.

I finished Accountancy a few years ago. Worked on finance for few years in a horrible local company . I'm currently working as a US/Can specialist on Accounts Payable for a European legal publishing company in their offshore office here in my home city. Recently got a US taxation certificate as well. I'm planning on going back to school to study paralegal or legal research as my current job is leaning towards that.

I'm a Store Manager for Sainsbury's [the UKs second biggest retail chain by sales], having worked my way up from Team Leader in the last 4 years [it was actually my year anniversary with the company yesterday]; prior to this, I was a duty manager for a bar and at the same time studied Sociology @ University.

I enjoy my job very much, I earn decent money and have a good benefits package, with great prospects.

I originally wanted to become a teacher, many moons ago - but I quickly realised that it just wasn't to be. I wasn't mature enough for starters. Want proof? SMH.

I just finished my accounting programme this May and I'm currently studying to sit the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination next month. I signed a contract with a Big 4 accounting firm last month, but that offer is contingent upon something that is beyond my control so we'll see how that plays out.

Funnily enough, I still don't know what I want to do with my life, but I'll probably stay in the field of accountancy until I figure it out. I do have an interest in perhaps studying law or actuarial science next. I also want to write a book before I'm 30 and I love and know too much about track and field not to try to do something in that realm too, so maybe I'll be some combination of accountant/actuary/lawyer/novelist/track and field analyst in the future. 8-)

YAY toni I wanted to be an architect when I was little! and still do maybe but it takes way TOO long to settle in that profession  I even have a sketch book filled with building designs

For now: I finished 12th grade in March and now I got into one of my district's top engineering colleges and I'll start my 4-year Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Sciences course on July 27th. I also plan to do a diploma in Graphic Designing (which is 2 years here) during the last 2 years of my engineering course. Though I'm gonna give exams like SAT, IELTS & TOEFL over the next year and a half and try to move to a better country for future studies in my junior year = 3rd year.
I had all and then most of you, some and now none of you.

I'm an English translator and interpreter, Certified Translation being my specialty.
Did a Master's Degree in teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language in Secondary school/A levels two years ago and been working as an English teacher since then.

Also studied German, but as soon as I finished my degree, I completely deleted from my brains. Hate it.
Studied Portuguese -well, a little, tbh- and now I'm about to start my third year of Arabic. So love it, addictive af lol.

So jealous of those who can speak several languages! I've always wanted to take the time to learn more languages but I've never had the time up until now.
