I didnt open this one surprisingly.

I love it so far, struggling a bit with pronunciation, but it's okay. The spelling tho is a lil mess, having to know which vowels are open and long and which not (cuz of double letyer spelling), but I'm already getting a feeling for it.

That''s great / dat is mooi.
Dutch can be difficult, my Egyptian/Greek stepfather also struggles with the spelling rules

My English husband has been living here for over 20 years and still has trouble with the spelling.

Where are you guys from actually? I wanted to know how many of you have that really hard gutheral G sound and how many say it softer. For me, Dutch equals the hard Gs and super cure rolled Rs, but I do realise that most of the poeple dont even speak like that.

And I think the Rs almost sound like the American R, but I guess cuz of the Dutch being so different, I find it extremely cute.

^I live in the south, where people have a softer G. Although mine is quite hard, but my parents don't come from here.
And I spend my early years in the west, where they speak with a hard G.

I struggle a bit with it tbh. To do it once is easy, but achtentachtig or negenennegentig.... brain error.

German with kurve is no better. It means hoes.

They promounce the -en as some sort of close a sound or so, n is kind of silent.

I'm from the Western part of the country, a city called Leiden.
There's a very different way of pronouncing the 'R' here. Not sure how to explain haha.
My 'G's are loud though. Nobody got time for whisper queens

if you can deal then you should be ok :P the weather is bad now (as expected). I am planning to visit the city again (and the country) next spring/summer when the weather is better.

OT but I can't wait to see the Netherlands hosting Eurovision :P
