I don't think smoking makes males look hotter, those who are hot are handsome regardless

How much do the smokers here spend each year on their habit?

When you see that number in front of you it will make you quit.

Roughly 300 euros, not that much tbh. I don't think the money argument would work even if it were triple that sum.

I smoke pack a day, so that makes it around 1.1k euros per year :o Basically, I spend my month salary on cigarettes.
I should really quit :-?

So cigarettes are quite cheap where you live? A pack a day would be nearly 3'000 swiss francs (~2,500 euros) per year over here in Switzerland

I smoke a cig like once in a month. I used to be a daily smoker. So happy I managed to quit.

I get really sad when I read through here and see people who used to smoke socially at parties and end up smoking frequently every day - that's why I won't ever try it. I refuse to be in the same situation as my parents.

Like I'd never date a guy that smokes, and most gay guys that I know do.

^I think a lot of Western societies obsessed with controlling risks have a tendency to have a higher negative stigma around smokers. Which seems logical since progressively it became forbidden in offices, restaurants, etc. I think from next year teachers for example will not be allowed to smoke on the school domain (which means a 2km radius in city schools). I'm not an expert around this stuff but from my own experience smoking in some Southern European countries is less stigmatized, maybe because of the more outside living style? I have no idea. I'm sure there is some interesting research around it.

Well, I didn't even talk about Serbia, but yeah, back home no one give a sh about smoking. Austria though is a western country, but people still dont care that much.

Teachers not allowed to smoke within 2km is crazy, though. Maybe in a country where smoking is really low, but I honestly dont think teaches are that much of an influence on kids as the newer generation have less and less respect for the school personal. Banning it on TV would 'make sense', not a few teachers. And who the hell wouldn't smoke working in school, kids nowadays are savage.

It’s moreso because my Mom’s lungs collapsed (several times) because of smoking when I was between 7 and 8, and seeing the result of smoking basically led me to be completely put off it.

No I completely agree. My Dad and Stepmom overdrink almost to the extent of alcoholism and to me it’s as bad as them smoking. At least smoking doesn’t alter your inhibitions and common sense.

Drinking is just as bad, but you can avoid that by not going into pubs or bars.

You can't avoid filthy smokers, who opt to walk down the street in front of you, blowing their smoke out which then comes back right into your face.

I don't drink often anyway but I do occasionally (though rarely do I drink to excess) I would never smoke a cigarette - I just don't get it.
