'The Velvet Rope' was somewhat bigger than 'janet.' in the UK. 3 top 5 singles in a row, sold out arena tour, awards, legend status. Okay, the album might not have sold more - but the singles did and it seems like she had a stronger presence.
She lifted bars with every album, unfortunally everything after B2B turned into mess. CA was great debut, filled with hits and she was the best in that teenage pop era. Stripped stayed as her best. Story, lyrics, music... everything was on point. With B2B she shoved her artistry, versatility, ideas... great visuals. Bionic at first was great idea and vision... but it turned out on such a mess with a lot of different genres... it wasn't a package at all. We all forgot about Lotus... but still sad that Just a fool never was official single and didn't had a video.
Hopefully she'll stick to vision and artistry in her followong career. But she'll need to be a fighter and fight to bring her name and music in the game again.
