'The Velvet Rope' was somewhat bigger than 'janet.' in the UK. 3 top 5 singles in a row, sold out arena tour, awards, legend status. Okay, the album might not have sold more - but the singles did and it seems like she had a stronger presence.

It seems like 'janet' edges it out!

In honour of his passing: George Michael?

Obviously, it's Faith. He never really topped that era.

I remember the annoying interview with Oprah when she kept insisting how George Michael never got hold of the US market after that (and because he was gay), so crass of her!

His career didn't crater because he was gay. I think he made the decision to avoid the spotlight following Faith - he didn't really appear in his videos after that and changed labels.

Though I have to say when I think of my favorite George MIchael songs, my favorites are all post-Faith. Too Funky, Freedom '90, and Outside.

The late, great George Michael peaked with 'Faith'!

Christina Aguilera?

George peaked with Faith - the biggest act in the world at that time.

Christina peaked somewhere between her debut and Stripped.

I have to say Christina Aguilera era was her peak, Stripped was her artistic peak, but it's quite underrated. 1999 to 2001 was her heyday, the TRL era.

TRL Class of 2000: Britney, Christina, *NSYNC, Limp Bizkit, J.Lo, Destiny's Child, etc.

I remember how those years were like the battle on who will be the ultimate MTV prom queen, Britney or Christina.

I'd say Whitney and MJ were just as big, if not bigger. I guess their deaths are old news now though.

Commercially, Christina Aguilera.

But I'll forever love the Back to Basics album.

Her peak is def Back To Basics.

She lifted bars with every album, unfortunally everything after B2B turned into mess. CA was great debut, filled with hits and she was the best in that teenage pop era. Stripped stayed as her best. Story, lyrics, music... everything was on point.
With B2B she shoved her artistry, versatility, ideas... great visuals.
Bionic at first was great idea and vision... but it turned out on such a mess with a lot of different genres... it wasn't a package at all.
We all forgot about Lotus... but still sad that Just a fool never was official single and didn't had a video.

Hopefully she'll stick to vision and artistry in her followong career. But she'll need to be a fighter and fight to bring her name and music in the game again.
