How do you feel about the world going crazy about this one song (out of thousands released in the Spanish speaking world)?
There were similar phenomenons in the past. It truly doesn't mean anything to me, just that we are living in a global world and every now and then one genre highlights more than others.
Music, specially in the us, is extremely cyclical.
Despacito is fun and addicitive, but I dont think it will have a real impact in the future.
On a different note: I am a Mariah fan and this is the only song I wouldn't mind breaking One Sweet Day record! but some years from now we will see that this is america's longest ever number 1 and we will see a lot of red faces lol. Although Mariah's song is not the best of all time imo, it clearly represented where America was musically during mid 90s, Despacito does not represent where they are musically now or never... it is just a trend
