Really gutted to be leaving so soon because of one harsh score :( glad to have done so well previously, however.

For me, you've been the most consistent Collector so far - I've loved just about everything you've submitted, so will be sad to see you exit!

I was considering Fleetwood Mac, but they seemed a bit too predictable + I had a hunch that Leo was a hater so I decided not to choose them

I had the impression that Beck wasn't well liked on this forum and that the pop-leaning judges wouldn't be into this mellow song of his, but glad to see that the beauty was appreciated!

I thought for sure that Dusty song was chosen by sonia since Sonia is running a Dusty survivor right now.

I think Son of a Preacher Man will win that survivor. :)

Belated congratulations to Gravity :)

So I am leaving to go out of town tonight and won't be back until Sunday night. I may have to skip judging this round.

I Feel The Earth Move is a great song, but I prefer Martika's version over Carole King's anytime.

Perhaps Wayne is postponing the theme and delaying everything so I have time to judge your song specifically.

No no no no. That cover wasn’t a patch on it IMO. As I doubt anyone else will vote Carole King songs, my favourites are It’s Too Late and Jazzman.

UKMIX20 - R9

We continue with our #UKMIX20 theme and we reach the year 2004 - unofficially, coming out of 2003 and into 2004 represented a bit of slump in the US music industry as charts were stagnant due to continued dominance of R&B and hip-hop (the US charts hadn't seen a non-R&B/hip-hop #1 since 2001 by this point) and record sales continued to slide to levels not seen since the late 70s/early 80s.

Other big stories in entertainment during the year included the release of one of UKMIX's favourite movies Mean Girls, the year saw a documentary maker by the name of Morgan Spurlock eat nothing but McDonalds for 30 days (gaining 25 pounds) in a social experiment, American fell in love with American Idol contestant William Hung and the #1 single come year end was Yeah! by Usher (feat. Ludacris). But all of those stories paled in comparison to this...

This incident unfortunately resulted in the decline of Ashlee's career but it didn't need to. As Mariah Carey proved with her absolute fiasco of a New Year's performance, 12 or 13 years later you come back fighting and you overcome. And that is the theme for this round.

Your theme for R9 songs that have a strong link to OVERCOMING SOMETHING or RETURNING TO GLORY - there are no restrictions on song choice, you can choose any song that links to the theme..

ACTION: Collectors, you have 24 hours to PM me your ONE chosen song - this will be a single elimination round.

I've had 5 songs in so far!

As cheapthrills will be away enjoying the Grand Canyon, this round will also only consist of 3 judges!

Should I act as 4th judge this round in cheapthrills place? Not fussed either way, happy to just host as usual - let me know what y'all think.

yes! definitely. I admire how you can just basically send songs and compile results without enjoying the jury duty. please treat yourself to this round at least :D

I love Carole King. Tapestry is one of my all time favorite albums.
But I don't really like her version of I Feel The Earth Move.
Not only do I prefer Martika's version, Eternal also did an amazing version.

I thought "Rhiannon" might have ended up the last round's top song. :o I'm shocked that it knocked bluecherry out. Thanks, bluecherry, for all the great submissions!

As for this new round, I absolutely love the theme. There are three artists that I'm expecting to see featured. Hope at least one of them shows up. There are two blatantly obvious song choices, but let's see what the collectors come up with.

I've re-uploaded the image to make the 10's more obvious - Carbon and Gravity have had the most from rounds 5-8 (3 apiece).
