Moderators: tdc2000, Spartan

Postby cheapthrills » Sat Dec 01, 2018 4:11 am

It's a new month, so that means it's time for the 139th Forum Song Contest!

Affillate blew everyone out of the water with this entry last month:

Tom Grennan - Found What I've Been Looking For

which, brings us back to the UK for the third time this year and for the tenth time overall. This time, we find ourselves in the town of Bristol, which is all dressed up for the holidays, so you can do your shopping - after you've voted. ;)

As you move about Bristol, be sure to enjoy the Christmas market and the Festival of Lights.

RULES

01. This is a monthly contest, modeled after Eurovision. You need to have at least 10 posts to your credit to take part.
02. You can pick any country in the world.
03. The artist you choose has either to be a citizen of the country they'll represent or to have been born there. At least HALF of the people from your act must be from the country you choose.
04. Your song must be 10 years old at the most. For 2018, eligible entries must have been released after December 31st, 2007.
05. Eurovision entries are not allowed. Songs from concurrent Eurovision heats are not allowed either.
06. The song cannot have been a UK/US Top 40 hit, as it would give it an unfair advantage.
07. The song can be a remix.
08. The song cannot be a cover version.
09. If your song features a sample, please state it early enough, so the other contestants can decide whether it is acceptable or not by poll.
10. You cannot vote for your own country.
11. Discussion about one's favourites during the contest is NOT ALLOWED, as it has the potential to influence the voting.
12. PLEASE try and choose a song not everyone would know, the point is to discover new artists.
13. If a song becomes or is found to be ineligible at any time before the voting is over, it will be disqualified.
14. Make sure you understand all the rules before you take part. You will need to devote about 2 hours of your time to this game to listen to all the entries at least once. Do a little research on your entry before you present it, be sure that it doesn't violate any rules, and check here to see if it has taken part before.

Question for the future: is it allowed to present an entry by a duet composed by two different main acts from different countries (representing just one, oc)? I'm not talking about features which are obviously accepted if the main act is from the country I'm representing, but a collab single not included in any album (credited as "with" instead of "feat."; the act I want to choose is mostly listed in second term but at the same hierarchy than the first).

Example: could "Electricity" by Silk City with Dua Lipa be presented as a song by Dua Lipa/UK, despite the fact Silk City is usually credited as first act?

I think that half of the act has to come from the country.
So if you have a duo, you can either submit it as an entry of person A's or person B's country of origin.

If such a majority cannot be found, I think you can take it for any country, e.g.
Theres a group consisting of 3 people: 1 from Poland, 1 from Australia, 1 from Chile. You should be able to take it for either Poland, Australia, Chile.

If you take The5, for example, (a super group consisting of Arab male singers), I think you can only take it for Algeria because 2 are from Algeria, 1 from Egypt, 1 from Morocco and 1 from Lebanon.
