^ That's exactly what I was getting at. What does it mean to everyone who use those words. It was meant to be conversational, and I was curious.

@ MrLeonix - the award for the most misdirected and irrational outburst goes to you. You've essentially answered the question perfectly nicely below but for some reason, you've felt it necessary to make sarcastic remarks alongside this. There's no need - jjeffs asked a perfectly valid question, after having 4-5 different people remark about a different album being overrated.

MrLeonix wrote:I think everyone would have a different way to meassure it. I don't think it has to do with accolades or metacritic scores tho.

For example Xtina's "Stripped" got a mediocre score of 55/100 on metacritic and no one says that album is underrated, at the end it got the success it deserved, it scored hits and builded a legacy for her career. The metacritic score didn't play a part on how public perceived it.

On the other hand, there's Madonna's "Music" album which was raved and acclaimed by critics with a great 80/100 score and made many critics year's best lists yet I still think its underrated as I've perceived it tends to be overshadowed by the previous "Ray of light" era which makes "Music" a bit overlooked into my eyes, but thats just me and my way of thinking, other people can think and see it differently.

Actually I indeed had an outburst and there's a reason for it. I'll explain it to you via private message (don't want to keep going off topic in this thread).

Glad to see Bedtime Stories finishing top 5 8-)

Ray Of Light is a deserved winner. Truly her magnum opus!

Not very happy with the winner to be honest especially when I compare it to other albums, but I expected this somehow :/

thanks for the interesting voting though

The most accomplished album won.

Erotica and American Life deserve to be higher. Rebel Heart is also too low; seeing Hard Candies and Like a Wirgin above it hurts me.

Not this album again  It’s good but there are at least 5 albums that are better.

ROF is so damn overrated. "Confessions" should have won. Congratz, anyway. :)

Pretty good result, especially the percentages of the top 3 battle being fairly split.

I expected this top 3 and finally it's not bad. Rol has my favourite Madonna song of all time... Frozen 8-)
Good to see COADF on the top 3 too...

Best album won. LAP is too high, i don't see appeal of that album.

But having top 3 albums from 3 different decades is proof of her artistic longevity 8-)

Thanks for hosting!

I really enjoyed the Britney and Madonna editions!

Personally, I would have prefered "Confessions On A Dance Floor" or "American Life" on top but "Ray of Light" also deserved to win!

Great winner. "Ray of light" is her magnum opus. Honestly I feel that "Music" should've been inside the Top 3, "Confessions" ranked too high.

Great top 3. Those albums define each of their respective decades artistically and sum up her legacy and music styles perfectly.

Confessions... ended up at least five places higher than I thought it'd be, and I thought for sure Like a Prayer had this in the bag.

For me, Ray of Light is the most anti-Madonna album she's released, and I suppose that may be the reason it's so critically acclaimed (and adored by fans) but it is also the reason I don't care that much for it.
