I think I'm in the minority but I always liked this album more than her last album Aayliah.

Her three albums showcase different moods. This one is very edgy but still had that laid-back vibe. Aaliyah was really a darker, experimental album that showed more angst.

I prefer "Aaliyah" because this one has some filler tracks.
I guess it's a real 90's album with the long tracklisting...

It's amazing how fresh songs like One In A Million and Hot Like Fire still sound :o
Choosey Lover is so classy and original

Brilliant album, such a cool vibe. To me, this was more classic R&b and her last album was more a contemporary sound.

Agreed. This is the album that defined her sound (or that we got of it due to her passing)

I agree. If she was still alive, she would of continued to make good quality music and better albums. It's such a shame that she didn't get to witness her full potential.

Based on the women from her debut era, I doubt that she'd smash long after she sadly passed away. Maybe 1 or 2 albums but definitely not more than that.

Giving You More is a hidden gem of this album. R&B masterpiece!

Also, I prefer album version of The One I Gave My Heart To over single version. The former is more true to Babygirl's style.

What do you mean? The album version I know is more urban and I recently discovered that the video version is more popish. Unless the album version is the poppish version

^^ that's what I meant. The album version is more urban so more true to Aaliyah's style.

I actually didn't know there was a difference between two versions, until I bought the CD. Imagine my surprise when I played it for the first time

Listening to this album gives me life. All the Timbaland tracks are the best and ahead of its time in the 90's. Aaliyah was one of the first to sing over 'edgy futuristic R and B beats (along with Ginuwine's "Pony")' that became more popular with acts like Toni Braxton, Brandy, TLC and many others.

The Marvin Gaye cover with Slick Rick is a nice party gem. Love it so much.

Best songs imo:

Hot Like Fire
A Girl Like You
One In A Million
If Your Girl Only Knew
4 Page Letter
The One I Gave My Heart To
Madonna......Rihanna....Beyonce....Michael...Janet....Prince...Mariah...Whitney
