I think the song is new as her album isn't released for another couple of weeks. Yeah she's Rick James' daughter and has a great voice by all accounts -will have to check this out :D

I saw her on Soul Train last week. She can sing but I think she's too much for me. Maybe I need to hear another track.

Leela's gonna be the next best thing. Her album 'A Change Is Gonna Come 'is released June 17th. It's produces by Kanye West and Lauryn Hill! (I'm sure the album's amazin). Leela's also the support act from the Black Eyed Peas here in Netherlands, so I guess also in the rest of Europe.

Here's the albumcover + tracklist:

Image

1. Music
2. Ghetto
3. Soul Food
4. Rain
5. When You Love Somebody
6. Mistreating Me
7. My Joy
8. To Whom It May Concern, Pt. 2
9. Didn't I
10. Prayer
11. Change Gonna Come
12. Good Time
13. Don't Speak
14. Long Time Coming

I'm going to cop that album 4 sure! 8-)

I've seen her video on MTV Base a few times...I really like her voice, and the single but she needs a haircut...

I'm lookin forward to see what else she comes up with. She reminds me of Chaka Khan or Tina Turning, there is no one like her in R&B of today.

Wow - her voice is amazing :o

Picked up the album today and I was pleasantly surprised at the soul/jazz feel to it, rather than the typical commercial R&B style. This girl's definitely gonna be one to watch...

What are everyone else's thoughts?

Yep got my copy today and have to say her album is so well sung and you can tell that this girl has got some depth, Her album is drenched in old school soul but it is brought right up to date and this album is a perfect change from all the crap that is out there today...She is one to watch and people will soon come to realise who this lady is as talent like this deserves to get full attention....

I live here in the Netherlands, and albums with a releasedate after the weekend (on a monday or tuesday) are often in the shops at thurday/friday/ saturday

Oh I see, well I guess that is ignorance on my part as I'm used to just getting my music from America and the UK, one forgets that there are other countries as well...lol

has anyone noticed that the tracklisting does not match up the songs on the album...for example....

Don't speak track 9 is actually track 13 on my cd...

Joy track 6 is actually track 10 on mine

And there are other mistakes too, has anyone else had this with their cd....

You've forgotten about the interludes.

For example, if a song is listed as track 4, it means it's the fourth song, not the fourth track, you see what I mean?

I agree it's a bizarre way to do it and i didn't get it at first either, but the songs are in the right order, there's just been some interludes jammed in between tunes meaning that certain songs are pushed further down hence they don't quite match up to the tracklist.

Anyways, since you "downloaded the whole album months ago" it shouldn't make a difference..?

there you go again with your snotty remarks...

Since you downloads the album months ago it should not make a difference....

What the hell are you playing at being so bitchy towards me, actually it does make a difference as I need it for my professional life and the correct tracklistings is something I need to know, and what you said about interludes is not the case on my cd, the interludes are names and numbered on the back.....non of the songs are in order and there are 19 songs instead of 15....

I'm not sure what your trying to get out but considering you said that your not into rows, you are very good at trying to start them..

I don't want to speak to you anymore as I'm not starting to see that you are very negative and I don't like talking to negative people
