15 years, my god.

Loved this so much back in the day. I agree with Carlos, one of her finest releases.

This is my fav Britney song from her early days. It should have been the 2nd worldwide single off the album. Pop at its finest 8-)

"Born to Make You Happy" was released 18 years ago today!

Image

"Born to Make You Happy" is a song recorded by American singer Britney Spears for her debut studio album, ...Baby One More Time (1999). It was released on December 6, 1999, by Jive Records, as the fourth single from the album in European countries. Before recording the song, Spears had to ask the writers of the song, Andreas Carlsson and Kristian Lundin, to re-write it, since it was a sexual song. The singer first recorded her vocals in March 1998, and re-recorded them later in the same year. The dance-pop and teen pop song alludes to a relationship that a woman desires to correct, not quite understanding what went wrong, as she comes to realize that she was "born to make [her lover] happy".
#1: Denmark, Ireland, UK
Top 5: Belgium, Europe, Finland, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland
Top 10: Austria, France, Italy
Top 20: Spain

In my opinion, "Born to Make You Happy" is one of her best releases ever, and the best single from her debut. It's such a feel-good song and it has aged so well. Not releasing this WW was a huge mistake! At least it was a massive hit in Europe and a #1 hit in the UK.

Happy 18th anniversary! :D

Gorgeous song. One of my favourite singles from Britney. This was rightfully a huge success in the UK. I own the CD single myself. 8-)

Nope.

Tbh, I think "Circus" is one of the weakest tracks on the album and "Toxic" has always been overrated xD
None of the songs would make my personal Britney Top 50 xD

Songs I consider to be better than those two:
...Baby One More Time
Sometimes
(You Drive Me) Crazy
Born To Make You Happy
E-Mail My Heart
Oops!...I Did It Again
Lucky
Stronger
What U See (Is What U Get)
Walk On By
Can't Make You Love Me
When Your Eyes Say It
Where Are You Now
Girl In The Mirror
I'm a Slave 4 U
I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman
Boys
Overprotected
When I Found You
Before The Goodbye
Bombastic Love
Cinderella
Me Against The Music
Everytime
Breathe On Me
The Answer
My Prerogative
Do Somethin'
Someday (I Will Understand)
Gimme More
Piece Of Me
Radar
Get Naked (I Got a Plan)
Freakshow
Toy Soldier
Why Should I Be Sad?
If U Seek Amy
Out From Under
Phonography
Amnesia
Quicksand
Blur
Shattered Glass
Lace And Leather
3
Hold It Against Me
Till The World Ends
Criminal
Inside Out
(Drop Dead) Beautiful
How I Roll
Gasoline
He About To Lose Me
Brightest Morning Star
It Should Be Easy
Tom's Diner
Do You Wanna Come Over?
Make Me...
Slumber Party
Mood Ring
Just Luv Me
Just Like Me
Change Your Mind
Coupure Életrique

So in the end, neither "Toxic" nor "Circus" would end up being inside my personal Top 60 xD
