For me, someone who lives through 'Spice mania' and who was a big fan, it's weird to think there's now a whole generation who weren't part of it and probably don't know much about them. I think the musical will be a good way to bring their music to a new audience as well as the die hard fans, and hopefully will cement their place even further in pop history.
Well that didn't happen...!

There's no filler on this album, it's solid from start to finish.

Last Time Lover was an interesting one, at the time I thought it was Victoria doing those low speaking/rap lines towards the end, but looking up some lyrics they have it as Geri.

I Remember when they played that concert in Istanbul on TV here in like early 1998 IIRC, and I noted that this was the only song they left off the setlist from Spice. LOL. :P

This album turned 22 a few months ago.

22 :o

I still play this regularly. In fact, I’ve listened to songs from it almost 200 times this year (according to Last FM)

Ranking, in light of the impending reunion:

1. Say You’ll Be There
2. Who Do You Think You Are
3. 2 Become 1
4. Wannabe
5. Mama
6. Love Thing
7. If U Can’t Dance
8. Something Kinda Funny
9. Last Time Lover
10. Naked

Even without Wannabe, they were going places with songs like these.
NO MEN IN ME.

They literally could have released almost anything from here....so many other guaranteed hits/number ones that went unreleased - Love Thing & If U Can't Dance in particular. I'd have loveeeeeed a double A side release as the final single

And even though Naked wasn't single material, it's one of my favourite tracks from them....EVER! Probably because I'm an R&B/slow jam lover and Naked was the closest to that sound that we got from them. Last Time Lover also fits that vibe but that was always the lone album filler track for me back in the day, although I came to appreciate it more in later years. Mel B really stands out on that track.

If Spiceworld wasn’t due out until 1998, I think they would have released Love Thing and/or If U Can’t Dance as a single in 1997. But there was literally 7 months between eras

A Spice Girls musical like Mamma Mia! would be great. Their songs can be used for different themes. :D :D :D

Indeed. I saw it three times and whilst it improved (they kept making changes across the entire run), the sales didn’t. I think the only way a Spice Girl musical will work is if it’s done in a similar way to Jersey Boys, and tells the story of the actual band.

I think they could have squeezed out one more single (Love Thing) for summer 1997 but they were already so busy doing other things
