I just can't ever get anyway attached to this album on any deep level but I do appreciate it for the amazing vocals and what it did for Mariahs career and for that I rate it fairly high.

Of course I somehow like it, cause tt's Mariah :D but I think it's worse that her debut.
Vocally, it's amazing, but the songs are boring. My mom loves it, though. :D

I love Now That I Know. It could have been a #1 single.

I hate the production on her voice on this album. It's really echo-y and must have been 'the trend' in 1993 because Emotions and Merry Christmas sound clearer.

Her vocals in "Without You" confuse me. During the chorus it almost sounds as if they've layered two vocal tracks on top of each other.

Yeah its like listening to two different tracks if you listen to each separately by listening with the headphone cable only half inserted!

^It sounds thats way to me too so I always thought they doubled the track.

"I've Been Thinking About You" sounds very urban for the Mariah of that time period.

I bought the "X2: Music Box/Butterfly" album/thing on iTunes and when I heard "I've Been Thinking About You", I thought it was a "Butterfly" track, but it wasn't, lol.
It was "Music Box". :)

I use to hate this album but I love it more it more each time I listen to it. Her vocals are beyond amazing on this.

Anyone who says this album is souless doesn't know what soul is because you can clearly hear it and feel the emotion.

I can't believe Sony didn't put out more copies of this. Mariah's catalog would still fare well.

My 4th fave Marih's albums. Many flawless tracks like Dreamlover, Without You, Anytime You Need A Friend, Music Box, Never Forget You, All I've Ever Wanted and Everything Fades Away.
Hero is good but too overrated.
My least fave are the 2 uptempos, I've Been Thinking About You and Now That I Know

I don't listen to Music Box much but the timbre of her voice is absolutely spectacular.

Leaving off "Everything Fades Away" and "Do You Think Of Me?" were mistakes.

Music Box is not necessarily soulless but it is definitely bland and uninspired. Like I can tell that Mottola and his crew sat in a boardroom and planned that album out then told Mariah what to do and how to do it.

Anytime You Need A Friend, Dreamlover and I've Been Thinking About You are exceptions.

Apart from the overperformed gem of Mariah's tours this is an amazing album.

Yes!

The vocal is what does it for me! One of her best.

Clivilles and Cole are amazing! If they released their remix of of "Anytime You Need a Friend" as the main single, it would surely be a Hot 100 Top 10 or even #1 hit!

This was her most important album in her career, I don't think she will be the Mariah everyone looked up to if it weren't for this album.
