Yeah! I also cannot believe that it's already 14 years ago! Oo - I can still remember be being in the 3rd class giving "I Love Rock'n'Roll" and "I'm a Slave 4 U" singles as presents to my friends :D

My Top 5 of "Britney tracks":

#1 Cinderella
#2 Bombastic Love
#3 I'm a Slave 4 U
#4 I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman
#5 Before The Goodbye

I also love "Overprotected", "When I Found You", "Boys (Album Version)" & "Let Me Be" - This album was litereally perfect! It had pure pop masterpieces, some bubblegum tracks and songs which showed a new side of her in which were part of her transitioning into a grown-up.

Yeah, really good album, and it has songs that are quite diverse throughout. Very underappreciated.

I am from the UK, and the only single that I have from Britney is I Love Rock n' Roll. Flop me.

I remember seeing the expensive limited edition in HMV when I was a child, and I had an argument with my mum after we left the shop because she wouldn't buy me it.

I also love this fanmade cover, even more than the original which is still one of the better album covers from Britney's releases: ... 6sbytw.jpg

She was such a respected, highly regarded popstar around the time of this record's release, even if it didn't sell as much as the first two albums and didn't make as much of an impression on the public and critics as much as Oops! did. She was absolutely everywhere throughout this era and In the Zone, which was a transitional album following Britney. I miss this time so much!

Same here, expect it was my 7th :) I think this might be her most underrated album.

"Britney" was released 16 years ago today!

Britney is the third studio album by American singer Britney Spears. It was released on November 6, 2001 in the United States through Jive Records. Looking to transition from the teen pop styles of her earlier albums ...Baby One More Time (1999) and Oops!... I Did It Again (2000), Spears began to embrace a more mature sound with Britney. Its music incorporates genres of pop and dance-pop with influences of R&B and occasionally dips into elements of disco, hip hop and rock; its lyrics address the subjects of reaching adulthood and sexuality. Contributions to its production came from a variety of collaborators, including Max Martin and Rami Yacoub. Spears herself assumed a more prominent role in the album's development, co-writing seven of its tracks.
-Debuted at #1 on the US Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 745,000 copies
-Over 10,100,000 copies sold worldwide
-34th best-selling album of the 2000s decade
-Spawed 4 Top 10 hits in the UK ("I'm a Slave 4 U", "Overprotected", "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman", "Boys")
-Earned two Grammy nominations for "Best Pop Vocal Album" and "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance"
-Britney became the first musician to top Forbes

This song is so underrated, I feel like it was ahead of its time (at least in America).

The whole album is full of hidden gems. I don't skip one single track. 8-)

Happy 16th anniversary to "Britney" , its probably my 4th favorite Britney album, really solid. I vividly remember going through this era back in my early teens, as an era it was perfectly executed with lots of music videos, great visuals, looks and promotion, the album was a success and she was at the peak of her celebrity power. "Slave" had the better music video and is the more iconic but Overprotected" was IMO the best song / single from the entire album and era, its simply among her greatest recordings.

Not my favourite era, even though the album is ok overall. Better than the two albums before though. But somehow the era seemed messy to me, don't know why
