since Wayne and me are Nutinified:

LastFM Plays:

Totals:

Wayne: 1.467 (#6 among all acts)
Stevyy: 1.004 (#9 among all acts)
Plym: 474 (#46 among all acts)

Past Month:

Wayne: 1.385 (#1) :o
Stevyy: 799 (#1)
Plym: 52 (#1) 8-)

it's save to say who run this motha... among your most beloved mods.

I just want to emphasize how much he impacted on my world. I know that not everybody uses LastFm to the extend I do. I also own the album and have been playing it on repeat for the whole week as well. Caustic Love and Paolo is the last thing on my (musical) mind when I go to bed and the first thing in the morning. I'm just glad Wayne stans so hard for him as well because we are both kind of diva territory. We both have other acts we cherish beyond control, for me it is Robbie for Wayne it is Roy Orbison.

I can recommend Paolo with all my heart to everybody who not necessarily thought this type of soul-fulk-rock could offer anything spectacular. But Paolo is so special in what he does. Great melodies. Unusual instrumentations. Outstanding voice. He has the whole package. Handsome too. Humble (from what I've seen in interviews).

Actually, my brother knew about Paolo first and one day also recommended him to me. That was like 2 yrs ago. And I was like.. "yeah right, if he was that good, I would have heard of him..." How wrong I was. Which leads me to my message: Stay open. Look outside your comfort zone. Nobody could ever know everything and everyone. There is real talent aka art out there. Music which speaks for itself. And I'm so glad I found my way to Paolo.

The man's music makes me so chilled and happy, I can't even put it into words. :o

It's literally a ridiculous thing to say, but I really can't.

There is an indefinable quality to his music, I never noticed it back in 2006 when I first heard Last Request and his other big singles - it only really becomes apparent when you spin his albums.

The man is remarkable.

Coming Up Easy is currently my jaaaaammmmm! 8-)

What do you think about his new album??
I, personally, am a bit disappointed... kinda don't like his new funky stuff :/ Though there are a few good songs on the new LP (Iron Sky) I don't like it in overall

The best thing that he's ever, ever, ever recorded IMO is Northern Skies [a "hidden" track that is tacked onto the end of - or is rather the outro of - Alloway Grove, on the These Streets album].

It's absolutely stunning - lyrically, musically, vocally - ethereal even!

I so wish it was longer.

Paolo's release was the best by a British artist this year. #Paolofacts.

Paolo is the hottest piece of manmeat to come from Scotland. #Paolofacts.

People around me keep thinking his name is Paolo Nutella. #Paolofacts.

Discuss.

In all seriousness though, I thought I couldn't be more hyped about this guy than I was when Caustic Love, but for some reason it's only gotten worse (or better?) the past few weeks. It all helped when I saw him live for the third time this year at the Heineken Music Hall - I thought his show was better suited for a smaller hall but he totally owned the large crowd.

And the man's voice is just... he can REALLY let rip.

What I've always loved about his live performances is typified in this - he spends 3 quarters of the song just nearly letting go before he just does it - and BOOM: he's smashed it.

That was a VERY great performance. Wasn't feeling it at the beginning but loved it by the end.

He is a hot man - there's just no avoiding that.

Caustic Love could've been a PERFECT album had he not included those USELESS interludes.

I don't listen to any of his albums individually anymore - he has a playlist on my iTunes with everything he's released across his 3 albums + a few other beauties. I feel like he's a unique talent in that each album tells a different story but quite clearly defines his life and each is a logical extension of the other. I still think Sunny Side Up is the album that contains most of my absolute favourites though.

i love how Paolo grew into himself as a man. you can clearly see it in his face. He was a boy when he started, so young. And now, he looks like a man, so handsome and genuine.

He indeed does have everything. As you pointed out, he has the trinity of talent saved within himself:

The Performer: unmatched talent. If you see him chant his songs, you become a part of it, just by being a spectator.

The Songwriter: his lyrics and melodies are outstanding: critical, introverted, open, reflective, haunting, stirring, piercing, marvellous

The Voice: Raspy, powerful, soft, emotional, great tone, absolutely outstanding, unique.

Ergo: Paolo Nutini simply is the BEST!

I listened to These Streets in full again last night for the first time in ages... it's so weird hearing it again after having played Caustic Love to death this year... He has grown and changed SO MUCH. It's strange to think his debut is already 8 years old - and he was younger when he released Sunny Side Up than I am now, which is kind of depressing

I still love his debut, but there's a few songs I tend to skip, and some I appreciate and like listening to but wouldn't rate as highly as most of the songs on Caustic Love. Sunny Side Up is still amazing - I really couldn't pick between it and Caustic Love for my favourite. Sunny Side Up has the added "nostalgia" factor, but Caustic Love I've already played more than his previous two albums. Still, between all his albums I'd say he's built a discography of excellent songs that some others don't manage over their entire career.
