Their relationship must have been so dull.

I'm really happy Sam won big at the Grammys, especially for the Best New Artist award. It's an only once in a lifetime award. 8-) 8-)

I imagine he's already inspired them but I get what he's saying:

Sam Smith wants his music to inspire gay kids

British singer vows to be 'a different type of pop star'

16 February 2015 | By Darren Wee

British singer Sam Smith has said he want to make music that inspires gay youths.

The four-time Grammy-winner said he hoped his debut album, which he wrote about his unrequited love for a straight man, would comfort gay youths for years to come.

'I'm just trying to make music that stands the test of time. So that, in 400 years, when a little kid who's gay listens to In the Lonely Hour, or my next record, he will be inspired,' he told the London Evening Standard.

The singer also vowed to be a 'different type of pop star' who is the same in his personal life as he is under the spotlight.

'I want to be a different type of pop star. I want to be a pop star who's not Photoshopped, who's straight-on human... Honesty is timeless,' he said.

Last week, In the Lonely Hour returned to number one in the UK after his Grammy wins.

Sam Smith won the Global Success Award at the BRIT's, probably for being the only artist to sell a million copies on both sides of the pond last year.

So far, besides the Global Success Award, Sam is 0 for 2 in actual competition. Three more categories remaining.

Uptown Funk beat Stay with Me in Best British Single, Ed Sheeran bested him in Best British Male Solo Artist.

EDIT: Sam wins British Breakthrough Act. 1 for 3. Two more categories remaining.

Sam didn't do a Grammy repeat:

*British Male Solo Artist: Lost to Ed
*British Video of the Year: Lost to 1D
*Best British Single: Lost to Mark Ronson
*British Breakthrough Act
*Mastercard British Album of the Year: Lost to Ed

He did win a special award though with the Global Success Award. So that's one award in competition and an award of merit for his accomplishments the previous year. He should be proud: four time Grammy winner, American Music Award winner and BRIT Award winner...

Sam performing "Lay Me Down" at the Brits. Have to say he looks better than he's been looking. That facial hair makes him handsome (lost some weight as well).

I noticed that. Last year, he seemed more fidgety... and that was indeed a nice performance of it. I'm getting used to this version of LMD...

Those photos just got published:

Sam Smith lost 14 pounds in 2 weeks due to a special diet. Do you think that's good? On one hand, he mentioned before that he likes exercised bodies (e.g. Justin Bieber's) but also that he got some negative feedback for his body. On the other hand, he used to say that he feels comfortable in his body and a part of his success comes from people who are fed up with perfect Hollywood-like bodies and appreciate him for appearing authentic and real.

Adam Lambert talks lovingly of Sam in the latest issue of Attitude magazine:

On Sam Smith: “Sam Smith, hats off, he has had an amazing year, he’s a lovely guy. I’ve met him a few times. I’m so happy for him, and I’m so happy his sexuality wasn’t a big thorn in his side. It was just: ‘This is who I am, I’m cool with it and so you should be too.’ And his songs are timeless and beautiful, and everybody relates to them. He’s doing it right, for sure. I think with me and Sam, there’s definitely an understanding there, like: ‘Hey gurl, how you doing?’ [laughs] But you know, there’s only a few of us actually, on a mainstream level. I think we’re building a little clique, I hope, but I haven’t met that many.”

Sam reveals that he has more trouble with people calling him fat than calling him the f-word.

Snippet of the portion mentioning this in this video.
