I understand where you're coming from, and I agree with that.
While I like MIAMTEC better overall, I can't really enjoy the whole experience 'cause I have to skip at least 4 songs. It just doesn't flow. Memoirs is a more 'moody' work and quite monotonous at some points but it's an album that I can listen from start to finish and it flows better.
I think the sequence also plays a role, 'cause it could've been better on MIAM, and I would have left out some tracks.
MIAMTEC has some of Mariah's best songs ever, Memoirs is cohesive 8-)

I live for the highs, what can I say

The run through Meteorite is almost flawless

Memoirs has its moments for a cold winter day but no songs that I couldn't live without like Dedicated, #B, Make It Look Good, Faded, Meteorite, or You Don't Know What To Do, and none of the belting on Memoirs comes close to that powerful ish on Supernatural

E=MC2 is cohesive too :D , probably more than TEOM honestly, and the only moment of monotony can be deleted from the end #byebye

TEOM, E=MC2, Memoirs, and MIAMTEC is her strongest four album run

Really Ally?

I think E=MC2 ins't that cohesive, just a collection of potential hits. All songs are bops and hit material (when the album was released).

I find TEOM much more cohesive tbh. There's a concept, especially sound-wise.

Don't dare come for VOL.
VOL is Mariah's most influential song of all time.
CLG never even reached #1.

VOL vs. CLG is like Mariah vs. Ariana
+1
+2
I think VOL is losing just because people are tired to see it every round but CLG is miles far from VOL.

Same. I just adore the entire era. Easily my most fave Mariah era.
That era will always be special to me. At that time I had to drive to work and I played this CD so often in the car.
Then there was me falling in love and my boyfriend buying me the Always Be My Baby cd-single.
Even still remember the first time I heard Fantasy that kicked of this era.
And I had a best friend at the time who loved Mariah almost as much as I did. So we enjoyed this era together.
Five singles that got a lot of radio airplay.
And the end of the era... my first Mariah concerts!

It’s all fun R&B, the songs are different but the instruments are all so simple except for Migrate and Side Effects but the tracks they are sequenced with have little synthesizers too

They’re mostly in the vein of WBT, like a total of 15-18 tracks, so uncluttered and simple, like Daydream and lots of Butterfly too

Sounding the same does not make an album cohesive, to me it’s kind of lazy, like Jesus, change up the keyboard before It’s A Wrap The same piano synthesizer is used the entire time too and it’s tone is #cheap and #cold, I prefer Jermaine’s Korgs, they are fuller and bolder

Butterfly and E=MC2 are the albums that feel least influenced by what other people want her to do soundwise

The Jermaine midtempos were predictable in songwriting pattern but she loves those

It never feels like "well, I have to do this sound for these fans, this sound for these fans" you know? Memoirs was a mix of what The Dream was doing, what Mariah liked, and what the lambs wanted from Mariah

Can't Let Go is a solid song.

Vision of Love is otherworldly. There's something very divine about it. The gong, the vocals, the lyrics. Her voice at the beginning is like a beam of light piercing through mist and cloud.

...damn, I need to write fiction.

Vision of Love vs. Can't Let Go is an unfair comparison since VOL is way bigger than the latter. And most non fans won't know CLG ever existed (personally I have only heared CLG during the TEOM era 4 years after I became a lamb). But CLG has a very special place in the hearts of almost all lambs because it takes you to an emotional rollercoaster from its sad theme and getting excited to hear the climax. It is sentimental and it vocals shows the vulnerable Mariah we've always loved.

To be fair, it should be CLG vs Loverboy hahahaha. Two extremely opposite tracks but both peaked at #2 at the Hot 100.
