It's hard to think she's no longer with us  But I'm sure one day we will meet her on the other side of that bridge

^ "Bridge over troubled water" is a fitting description of the adversity through which she fought and emerged a legend. How fortunate are we all that she was able to channel deep-rooted struggle and pain into power, soul, and hope that she shared with millions.

The fact we managed to live and witness many moments of her during her lifetime feels like a blessing.

My husband has been playing Aretha for hours now.
He's got all her CD's, so I wonder how long he will go on. 8-)

She has more than 42 albums, not including compilations, so he can play her all night!

Ariana Grande performed "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" on Jimmy Fallon tonight. She did a terrific job!

I had no idea that The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra reworked some of her hits! :o

Currently listening now, they did magical things with Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley hits.

Holy shit, what they do with Don't Play That Song (You Lied) and Until You Come Back To Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do) is unreal - they improve on the originals IMO.

7 tracks in and I think it's a magnificent record thus far.

It’s a great album - the modern production and remastered vocals really make the songs sound brand new.

I'm still really surprised by just how good The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra did with her hits.

Like seriously, listen to this:

Is that not one of the greatest examples of reworking a song and improving it you've ever heard?!

Her 1998 Greatest Hits album is her best compilation IMO.

I'm going to be starting a survivor on it later today with song links for anyone interested - it will have her biggest hits on there.

I've started my Aretha GH survivor, take part here: viewtopic.php?f=32&t=135762" target="_blank
