Hard to believe in a couple of weeks it will be 17 year since she passed....

So many great songs on all of her albums... Aaliyah for me was her most consistent record from start to finish. Hard to pick favourite songs with Aaliyah but I swear down, all my life whenever anyone has said "it's friday", my mind goes, "...and I'm ready to swing..." and the beat kicks in and I remind myself that Back And Forth is everything legit about her.

I can't believe it's been 17 years! 2001 was a great year for many genres in the mainstream. It sucks that Aaliyah's material is slowly getting forgotten now.

August 25. The anniversary of Aaliyah's death is always the first thing I think about when I hear that date.
I can't believe it's been 17 years. She truly was one in a million and she's still being missed.

Unbelievable, Unacceptable. The fact that such a great, talented, lovely and beautiful person isn't here anymore hurts so much.

Aaliyah was the very first singer I ever looked up to and loved. She inspired me so much and still does. I'm proud to call her one of my role models & idols.

God Bless her soul. I hope to see her in Heaven one day.
Somebody's doing the wrong note.

I tweeted about Aaliyah today and I'm surprised to see how many likes/retweets that tweet got.
It mean she's still not forgotten and that makes me very happy. I feel like her uncle/the label is sabotaging her legacy, so it's up to us - the fans - to keep the memory and her legacy alive. <3

She is still loved by many. And I for one will NEVER forget her, because aside from the music and all that jazz she was most importantly a genuinely lovely person. So kind and gentle. Sometimes when I look at the pitfalls of showbiz and the despicable people that lurk within the industry I'm almost relieved that she exited early... I would've been worried to potentially see her get destroyed by it. That would've been heartbreaking.

Two new unreleased Aaliyah songs are up on YouTube. And both are FIYAAAHH.

La La La/No Days Go By

La La La sounds so beautiful. It's like she's singing straight from heaven. No Days Go By is the same song that appeared in the Japanese release of One in a Million but this one is a different mix.
