The Velvet Rope
Rhythm Nation 1814
Also my two favourite studio albums of hers.
Design of a Decade (International, although the Japanese and US editions are gorgeous too)

The unedited, full cover of the janet. album that the two disc limited edition used would also be among my favourites. Stunning, iconic image that needs to be seen in all its glory. I don't rate the head crop that was used as the standard edition artwork quite as much.

If it’s true she is doing a second US leg for ‘State of The World’, I am truly done with this bish

Voted for Control, Janet. and The Velvet Rope. (place 4 and 5 were Design of a decade Japan Edition & Discipline).

I HATE her covers from All for you to 20.YO. So bland, the same smile pose. A pity she never continued that "arty" type of cover she did with The Velvet Rope. And Damita Jo truly has one of the most horrible covers. A pity because to me it's her best album next to The Velvet Rope.

I have the Japanese edition of Unbreakable and there are 5 pages of text before the lyrics in the sleeve. But it’s all in Japanese! What is the text about?

One date (Miami) leaked on her Facebook page, it was shared as an event and deleted later. The other date leaked on LiveNation website, according to her fans on Twitter. But who knows? Could be just an error.

Never mind. I’ve just realised that this is a Japanese only thing in addition to the standard sleeve

So I listened to RN1814 again today, after dismissing it in another thread... I like it more than I thought I did. I love the title track and Black Cat but I swear some of the rest of it sounds identical to Control songs. I still think her voice gets lost in the production and she relies too much on backing singers, but I’m prepared to give it another few goes

After RN1814, she began doing nearly all the background vocals on her records. Her harmonies are everything

Her head looks too big for her body though.

Well, I’d rather stronger vocals tbh. No idea how she pulls these songs off live. Was she the Britney of her day?

Didn’t you think her vocals were strong on Love Will Never Do?

I can hear she’s singing with more power on the verses, but the first gets lost in the production and it’s mainly backing singers on the chorus imo... and she seems to struggle to stand out (other than knowing she’s taking the higher part). The second verse is better.

This however just sounds like a re-make of ‘You Can Be Mine’ (at least at the start).

I'm so glad it wasn't a duet with Prince as it was planned to be. I hate duets. She sang the first verse with deeper voice to emulate male voice and everybody liked it so they decided to leave it that way and forgot about Prince.

I decided to bite the bullet and get All For You on vinyl on Ebay earlier, since I've been trying to pick up some of the more hard to find/expensive vinyl I want (like I completed my Madonna collection with MDNA and I picked up two U2 albums, Achtung Baby and Zooropa, that are impossible to find cheap), still holding out for hope I can get janet. and TVR for less than $300, but AFY for $59 I couldn't really make a fuss about.

She should wear skinny jeans more often rather than her go-to uniform (harem pants).
