Sade to announce shock retirement from music?

Sad news for Sade fans. Speculation had been rife that the British singer best known for her hit song Smooth Operator, is about to announce her retirement from music, at age 57, with immediate effect.

Being a singer isn't fun anymore

“As we get older, there are phases of life that we enter into, and being a singer-songwriter just isn't fun anymore,” she might have said, says a source who remained anonymous. Other reports hinted that she may branch out into other creative fields she is better at (and more interested in), though they didn't provide any details.

#ThankYouSade

For a little while on Friday evening, #ThankYouSade was a trending hashtag on Twitter. As many fans reminisce and look back on all the unforgettable memories, some may wonder what about now made her make the decision.

This is sad, if true.

It's a satiric site. Although their "news" were posted million times here, people somehow still fall for it.

As artists we have a responsibility to amplify the voices of those who need to be heard. Through activism and music we will do just that. Remember to have strength and have faith. Soon. Patience will show the way.

Just starting to get into her/their music.

How does one acknowledge them? I see some people refer to them as her/them.

I love Sade. Some of my favorite songs from them are:

Cherish The Day
Lovers Rock
Babyfather
It's Only Love That Gets You Through
Like A Tattoo
Soldier Of Love

Also, this performance always gives me chills. When she sings Hallelujah

Kylie Minogue, Garbage, Simply Red, Coldplay, U2, Janet Jackson, Nine Inch Nails, Tove Lo, Blue October, Godsmack

Okay, so I'm 5 days into properly listening to this AMAZING woman [I've elected to address "her" as opposed to "them" - seems like the popular way to do it]. I've mainly decided to listen to their double disc Ultimate Collection as it's got all of their hits remastered. So far, I love: Your Love Is King, Smooth Operator, Is It A Crime, Immigrant, King of Sorrow, Soldier of Love, Still In Love With You, I Would Never Have Guessed and a few more.

That said, I am continuously drawn back to By Your Side - it's one of the best songs I've ever heard. And nothing has yet come close to it.

I don't think I've ever heard a song like Immigrant before in my life - the structure is phenomenal. One of the things I'm really enjoying about her music is how authentic it sounds - real instruments, great backing vocals and her amazing voice.

I say "her" as well, because the lead singer is named Sade and plus she is the only person on the album covers and everything, most people just assume Sade is a single-named female artist ala Madonna, Cher or Pink. The band members are all very talented too but they have always been presented as her backup as opposed to a band of equal parts in the media.

Which is a bit ironic considering how she didn't want to be signed as a solo artist.
