It's a teaser song. her first in years. it's not being send to radio and there's no promo planned around 'Accelerate' as of now.
There wasn't even a radio premiere.

Obviously they are going to push 'Fall In Line'. So, yeah. Call it a lead single, call it a first radio single, whatever.
'Accelerate' is her first comeback song, but it's not the single.
Twice is a great song. But all this whether or not Accelerate is the first single is dangerous territory in any case. Accelerate is so polarising many people would be put off the album, or anything further from it based on their views of that track. Whether it's the first single or not, it's a dangerous game to play i reckon! But of course Xtina is not alone in doing this.

In this day and age it is not that dangerous, loads of acts release loads of tracks before an album is even out.

Of course, but when they are, er, polarising as Accelerate, it is pretty risky.

But she mainly has polarising introductions to her eras though. Dirrty is also very polarising in the light to most of the album. Your Body also was just a little part of what she did on Lotus and Not Myself Tonight also was polarising.
If people like Christina, they will find her new music and decide whether they support it, that's the positive part about streaming, since you can basically pick and choose tracks of an album, while still contributing to the album SPS, especially for the US charts :)

Here are the best (and worst) diva duets of the last 20 years

1. Christina Aguilera, Mya, Lil’ Kim, & P!nk – “Lady Marmalade” (2002)

The ultimate embarrassment of diva riches — four unlikely bedfellows from pop, hip-hop, and R&B, co-produced by Missy Elliott, who did some of her best work supporting other female artists. The only reason this edges out “The Boy Is Mine” for the top slot is its super-sized ambition — and showmanship. Each singer gets their own vocal showcase, all leading up to a thunderous verse from Aguilera that nearly sweeps the rug out from all the participants. And with Xtina recently confirming that her first post-“Marmalade” duet with another pop star will be a song with Demi Lovato, the bar is still set impossibly high for other duets to scrape the melismatic heights achieved by this Moulin Rouge masterpiece.

I’ve just rewatched all the back to basics music videos and how have I never fully appreciated how f-ing BEAUTIFUL they are. Such high quality, high budget, artistic and individual efforts. I’m blown away still.
Most listened to albums at the moment:
Christina Aguilera - Liberation
Lily Allen - No Shame
Kali Uchis - Isolation

fan would be overrated in my case anyway I think. I mean I like her and most of her music but I think fan is even more.
