She got £3k on her cash builder and somehow beat the chaser in the head-to-head but the group lost overall. It was her, Nina Wadia, Linford Christie and Tyger Drew-Honey. She came across as funny to be fair, little bit tipsy perhaps.

I was pondering what Girls Aloud songs would win Eurovision? Obviously most of them, but which in particular?

Well they’d need to represent Ireland in order to stand a chance of winning

Biology is their most European/Eurovision sounding imo.

Sexy No No No sure would be a great performance. And, as much as I enjoy Biology, they’d need to go all out.

Maybe something like No Good Advice or Girl Overboard or Untouchable or On The Metro. So many options.

I wonder if they were ever approached for Eurovision? Let’s face it, they were trashy enough for it back in the day.

BBC approaches Girls Aloud to represent UK at Eurovision
Brian O'ReillyJanuary 18 2013 8:59 AM

GIRLS Aloud have reportedly been approached by the BBC to represent the UK at this year’s Eurovision in Sweden.

The girlband, who recently reformed to celebrate a decade in the business, are the station’s first choice to go to Malmo in May.

It is believed the station is hoping to use their connection to Will.i.am through ‘The Voice’ to convince him to produce the entry.

Reports earlier in the week suggested that the Sugababes had already agreed to represent the UK at the song competition – member Jade Ewen came fifth in the competition in Moscow in 2009, the UK’s best result in nearly a decade.

It has also been confirmed by German organisers that dance band Cascada have submitted a song to the German selection.

Meanwhile RTE are set to confirm the line up for the Irish Eurosong which takes place next month.

Those believed to be competing are former X Factor contestant Melanie McCabe, girlband member Zoë Bohorquez as well as singer Aimée.

Although bookies had installed former Westlife member Shane Filan as an early favourite, he denied he had plans to take part on Twitter.

The 2013 Eurovision song contest takes place in Malmo in May following Loreen’s victory with ‘Euphoria’ in Azerbaijan last year.

Yes, 2013 at the height of their game. I’m sure they’d have hated it. Sarah and Nadine would probably be up for it, Chimola would probably think it’s beneath them. Which it would’ve been in 2013.

They should totally do it and become the new Bananarama. They’ve literally nothing left to lose at this point

If Sarah is willing to do any talent show, she’d do this although I feel like she’d murder the live performance. Nadine’s problem is that the Europeans won’t understand what she’s singing.

Random question: why is Cheryl the most popular Girls Aloud member? Or why did she have the most successful solo career? Is it all just because she was a judge on X Factor?

First she married popular football player Ashley Cole, that raised her profile, then she got on X Factor during its peak of popularity and had Simon on her side.

1. She married a footballer and became a WAG
2. She is beautiful
3. She joined XF and her involvement gave it the best ratings it ever had
4. Her husband cheated on her and she didn’t know until it was in the newspapers
5. Girls Aloud we’re getting better and better as a band
6. She took her husband back
7. Her launched a solo career with a hell of a song
8. Her husband cheated on her again... and she found out via newspapers again
9. She divorced him
10. She went onto have 5 solo #1s.

I do think a lot of it is because of the X Factor exposure - she was the Queen of Saturday night TV for a few years here and that is a big thing. But what really sealed the deal imo is that she wasn’t all talk or personality - she backed up her position as a TV talent judge by going on to make a hell of a successful solo career for herself.

I know people argue she solo success is because of the X Factor, but even if she wasn’t a judge she still would have secured a performance slot, coming out of the biggest girl band of the century. But ultimately her music was good, her promo was good and she didn’t let personal situations ruin any of it. She was the nations darling for a while.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens when she comes out with her next album, as sales were always a strong focus for Cheryl and streaming hadn’t the impact it does now. If the music is good I think it’ll find an audience though.

I give the X Factor peak ratings credit to Dannii.
I think the public adored Cheryl as being a bit of an all-round princess - seemed nice enough (unless you're a toilet attendant), very beautiful, vaguely talented, she also received a lot of sympathy after the Ashley fiasco.
