I'm aware that there are three topics already available for each of their albums, but I've started this one as some of the more general information regarding their overall sales is scattered across the three threads. I thought that it would be useful to have a thread where their worldwide success as a whole could be discussed, but if any users and/or moderators feel that this is unnecessary, please feel free to remove.

I will go through the topics and research their overall sales myself and see if there's anything I can find, and if anyone else has any information they want to post, go ahead! :D

Good shout, Josh!

I think after three albums, they deserve a topic like this.

I have altered the title slightly to keep it in line with all of other topics, hope this is okay buddy! :)

I disagree. They already have 3 very active threads. Why create a 4th one to update?

Most of these threads are artists who have 5-6 albums. They have three.

Three albums in, they are past their sophomore effort and are now established artists with a seemingly big future in music - Justin Timberlake has three albums [4 if you count the other half of 20/20] and he has his own general sales thread.

Its good to have an overview of every aspect of each era - if Josh is going to put the work in and find the information, then good on him - he's got my backing.

Thanks, Wayne. :D

If more people reply and feel the same as Chris, or if the other threads get more posts than this one in the next week or so, then I'll delete it and just keep the three threads as they are.

^It's just double the work.

Post in the individual album thread then in the overall thread?

Yes, Justin has an overall thread, but we don't post in the Justified or Love/Sex threads. He doesn't have 4 threads going at the same time plus an overall thread.

This thread is a waste of time when we have 3 very active threads going at the same time.

If there is information limited to a certain era, it's better to post it in the respective thread, but what about overall information? You've posted stuff like the cumulative sales all through the career before and for something like this, such a thread is more useful, isn't it?

Hate to be 'that person', but has it occurred to you that you don't have to post in this thread at all? No-one is going to call the police or in any way sabotage your chances of success in life if you decide that this thread isn't for you.

Some people want this thread. From a Utilitarian perspective, since it brings no harm to anyone else, one might be right in arguing that its existence is justifiable, as it fulfils certain desires of some, without taking away from the rest.

Controversial, I know.

I agree that an overview topic is now necessary, three albums into their career.

However, in an effort to keep the chart analysis section clean, I will be locking one of the album topics soon - probably the first album era topic [and possibly the second album era topic in due course].

Why block the albums topic?

I made the first topic and i always update the topic. Will block the first Era of Rihanna/Gaga/Katy too? :-?

I understand that it's unusual for one act to have four active topics in this forum, however their first two albums are still charting in a lot of countries. We can either keep the topics as they are, and I'll delete this one, or the performances of their first two albums alongside any other general chart information can go in here.

I'm inclined to go with the latter.

Will see how active the other topics become, and make a decision later.

Following discussions, a decision has been made to lock the two older One Direction topics charting their now expired eras. All further discussion of those two eras should take place in here, alongside discussions around their cumulative chart performance over the last four years.

Please direct your queries around this to a chart mod, so as not to flood the topic with non-chart stuff.

Thanks for these, Wayne! I will get some stuff together once I have the time; I've been fairly busy in the past few days. I was wondering if you have access to all the UK midweeks? If so, do you know where Take Me Home and Up All Night are charting?

I don't, I'm afraid - I terminated my Music Week subscription a week ago [in favour of Charts Plus] and the usual Midweek sources don't seem to have anything.

Take Me Home is a non-mover (33) in UK midweeks, whilst Up All Night is down 31-39. Glad Take Me Home is selling more again tbh.
