Jhené Aiko's debut album Souled Out will arrive on September 9 via Artium Records/Def Jam. The heavens part as the R&B singer floats up from the sea into the sky on the celestial artwork.

The album follows her critically acclaimed 2011 mixtape Sailing Soul(s) and 2013 EP Sail Out, which spawned the Gold certified, #1 hit “The Worst” and became the best selling EP in Def Jam history.

In addition to No I.D., the dark and melodic project features production from Key Wane, Fisticuffs, James Fauntleroy, and Dot Da Genius. Her daughter Namiko and late brother Miyagi are featured on “Promises,”

Expectations will be immense considering the years we worked on that album and the outstanding hype and buzz about her! I'm very curious about the results...

My expectations are a little tamed for this, since there seems to be no radio hit and little promo, so far. But she does have the hype she's built.

Pre-Order is up to #9 on US iTunes. :)

HDD: #1 Jhené Aiko vs. Lecrae

YOUR EARLY READS: "Souled Out" by ARTium/Def Jam's Jhené Aiko and "Anomaly" from Reach's Lecrae will battle for #1 on next week's Album Sales Chart, according to the early tea leaves. Rapper of faith Lecrae is getting a nice retail boost from Christian bookstores, while Aiko is enjoying the momentum off her successful EP. Lecrae is now #2 on iTunes, while Aiko is at #3. (9/9p)
Come on, Jhene! 8-)

I would think so. His album was on pre-order weeks before Jhene's. Either way I'm excited to see what happens.

^ I think that a #2 debut is for sure, but I still have hopes for the #1. It's good that the album is now at the top on iTunes!

It's a nice opening for a new act, but she'd still have to work a lot, many female R&B acts recently debuted at No. 2, but dropped down the charts relatively fast and as a whole, the chart performances ended up being rather mediocre...

Her first EP is still charting on the BB 200, 42 weeks after its release, I think she can have longevity with this album :)
