It's been reduced in price for a limited time, yes; it's a smart move from his team to ensure that he keeps his #1 position officially tomorrow, although he probably would have done it without a sale anyway. The deluxe edition was already #1 before the sale though, while the standard edition was low top ten.Nackar wrote:Very much surprised as well there wasn't a topic yet! What happened on UK iTunes? Was it discounted? Amazing!
British singer/songwriter George Ezra has hit Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart with debut LP Wanted On Voyage, 14 weeks after its initial release.
After trailing Jamie T’s Carry On The Grudge in the midweeks, Wanted On Voyage - which includes Top 10 singles Budapest and Blame It On Me - has pushed ahead in the eleventh hour to score George his first Number 1.
George tells OfficialCharts.com:
"It’s amazing that, over three months since my album came out, not only is it still in the Top 10 but it’s gone to Number 1. Thank you so much to everyone that has bought it – I hope you’re having as much fun listening to it as I had making it. Keep your pecker up and all the very best!"
Wanted On Voyage hasn’t once left the Top 10 since its release back in June and this week spends its 11th week in the Top 5.
Wanted On Voyage ended the week over 10,000 copies ahead of Jamie T’s Carry On The Grudge, which slips to Number 4 in today’s final scores. Carry On The Grudge maintains its position as this week’s highest new entry and gives Jamie T his third Top 5 album.
In the top eight continuously since it made its debut 13 weeks ago, Wanted On Voyage finally surpasses the number three position in which it debuted, jumping 4-1 as second hit Blame It On Me reaches a new peak for the sixth week in a row, climbing 7-6. Ezra's debut hit, Budapest rallies 12-10 to return to the Top 10 after an absence of five weeks. Ezra's album sold 30,061 copies last week - the second best tally of its career - raising its cumulative sales to 213,560.

Ben Howard is in the same league as The Lumineers and Passenger, so actually the type of acts that have that one hit and their albums not only profit from it but have great longevity. But they have some kind of one-hit-wonder image, don't they? And they rarely reach the top with their albums...Nackar wrote:Interesting to read! I had him pegged in the vein of Ben Howard or something, haha. Seems we all have different expectations : )Tansike wrote:^ same for me (but i had John Newman in mind )
