I'm surprised that this doesn't have a topic.

I'll update the first post with UK chart runs and whatever else I can find; contributions are more than welcome. :D

Anyway, he's slaying UK iTunes at the moment: the album is both #1 and #2 on Top Albums. It's set to hit the top spot on the official album chart tomorrow. :D

Thanks for creating a topic, i was surprised there wasn't one all the time :)

The titles in this sections must be all the same, so it would be good if you change it to

Very much surprised as well there wasn't a topic yet! What happened on UK iTunes? Was it discounted? Amazing!

It's been reduced in price for a limited time, yes; it's a smart move from his team to ensure that he keeps his #1 position officially tomorrow, although he probably would have done it without a sale anyway. The deluxe edition was already #1 before the sale though, while the standard edition was low top ten.

UK
British singer/songwriter George Ezra has hit Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart with debut LP Wanted On Voyage, 14 weeks after its initial release.

After trailing Jamie T’s Carry On The Grudge in the midweeks, Wanted On Voyage - which includes Top 10 singles Budapest and Blame It On Me - has pushed ahead in the eleventh hour to score George his first Number 1.

George tells OfficialCharts.com:

"It’s amazing that, over three months since my album came out, not only is it still in the Top 10 but it’s gone to Number 1. Thank you so much to everyone that has bought it – I hope you’re having as much fun listening to it as I had making it. Keep your pecker up and all the very best!"
Wanted On Voyage hasn’t once left the Top 10 since its release back in June and this week spends its 11th week in the Top 5.

Wanted On Voyage ended the week over 10,000 copies ahead of Jamie T’s Carry On The Grudge, which slips to Number 4 in today’s final scores. Carry On The Grudge maintains its position as this week’s highest new entry and gives Jamie T his third Top 5 album.

Awesome! So thrilled for him, think it's a fantastic album. Love albums that repeak later on, especially if it's at number one.

The album has had excellent sales increases in the past few weeks. I'm so glad it's charting this highly when we're entering the fourth quarter, the most important part of the year for sales. I hope it sells a great amount over November/December.

I didn't know Budapest is so close to 600k already :o

That's what I love about songs that don't peak at #1 with +100k sales in their first week, but rather stay in the top ten for a long time, or at least charting high: their high total sneaks up on you, and surprises are always nice

I'm really surprised about the album's longevity since he rather gave me the impression of a Gotye-esque rather than a Sam Smith-esque act to me (= one big hit, the parent album mostly sells due to that one)...

Great to see George smashing like that, so deserved. And he is back at #1 on iTunes!! #1 and #4 :D

BTW, Budapest entered a few days ago the top 200 on the USA iTunes

Interesting to read! I had him pegged in the vein of Ben Howard or something, haha. Seems we all have different expectations : )

Ben Howard is in the same league as The Lumineers and Passenger, so actually the type of acts that have that one hit and their albums not only profit from it but have great longevity. But they have some kind of one-hit-wonder image, don't they? And they rarely reach the top with their albums...

At least George Ezra isn't in the same league as Sam Smith: He's the kind of act that rather seems to have a future and the way he handles his era reminds me of course of Emeli Sandé but also Bruno Mars...

Maybe George Ezra could pull a James Blunt, but I'm a bit sceptic about that...
