And this great midweek result is only thanks to the new Streamimg/ Sale rule ratio!

Had it been like the old one, it might have never made it to the top 100
with its streaming being quite low (20-30K per day)

Well, with the old ratio it made the Top100... the Top 40 actually and charted 7 weeks.

In fact the new ratio was already applied last week and it was #85...
So it's up today because of that but also because it has climbed on iTunes this week.

Considering it's probably Top 40 in sales, it might have been in the 90s region with the old ratio.

Amazing. 400k before the superbowl and then we have the superbowl and probably a tour to keep selling it. I also hope we will get a third and fourth single.

Joanne, PI and MR were certified Gold (again) yesterday in Canada:

January 9, 2017 Gold Single Lady Gaga Perfect Illusion Interscope Records

January 9, 2017 Gold Single Lady Gaga Million Reasons Interscope Records

January 9, 2017 Gold Album(s) Lady Gaga Joanne Interscope Records

A bit strange, as they were already certified some time ago... :-?

December 13, 2016 Gold Single Lady Gaga Perfect Illusion Interscope Records

December 5, 2016 Gold Single Lady Gaga Million Reasons Interscope

November 4, 2016 Gold Album(s) Lady Gaga Joanne Interscope

Maybe they meant Platinum and there's a mistake?

Do you think they've released the video too early? Maybe they should've released it in January?

I don't know, nothing seems to work with the song. She put a lot of effort into it and promoted it everywhere yet the song failed to reach the Top 20 in every relevant market (and most markets around the world).

Its easily her worst performing second single (despite likely being her most promoted one). So the music video would have not probably made much difference in January.

Lol. Nothing seems to work? There has been a big effect after each one of her TV performances.

All her previous 2nd singles were not released in the streaming era... So your comparison is pointless.
MR has done amazing on iTunes and sales only charts, but it was ignored from Spotify playlists making it really hard for the song to have good peaks.
That's the reason, not because "the song didn't work despite all her efforts".

However, despite the bad peaks, it's having longevity.
It's already Gold in Canada and Italy. Probably it will end being Platinum in both countries.
It will be Gold in Switzerland soon. It's already eligible for a Gold certification in US and probably it might even end up being Platinum in the long term.
It probably will be Silver in UK in a couple of months too.

So yes, it only reached Top 40 in big markets like UK, Australia, Canada, France, etc. and #52 (so far) in US... But I prefer staying months in chart and have a certification instead of a Top 20 peak but only a couple of weeks on chart...

^ But her previous second singles were Multi-platinum or Platinum in both US .... Not just Gold.

... I know digital sales have decreased due to streaming, but then why are Spotify and Radio such a big struggle for her these days, its not like she's an old act, and those are basically the platforms where all of her peers do greatly these days.

Her album tracks have good streaming numbers. What she lacks is a major hit. Album sales are more than amazing and she does greatly compared to all of her peers. She passes Rihanna & Ariana Grande in album sales for her 10th week. Not to mention the female "great peers" of your signature! At the end of the day she is far more successful than you give her credit for and it hurts you alot ! Look at how many countries (ncluding usa) she is growing on album sales again. Ohhh yeahhh baby ... It stings alot!
If between "Born This Way" and "Express yourself" one song is reductive then I easily choose EY!

Joanne 33000 (Total = 844000)

This week streams are counted but I doubt that makes a huge difference for Gaga.

I wouldn't say lost, I reckon they are still there, but it isn't really the type of album they would buy tbh. She is picking up the lost sales with her Brazilian fans though 8-).
