She's one of the few Japanese artists to achieve that cause most acts there, even those whose sales are even bigger than hers tend to have huge sales in the 1st week and then fall very quickly.
Exactly. She enjoyed something very rare these days in Japan! So glad for her

There we go. That should be the official year-end chart to be honest.

Fantôme has been certified Gold in Japanese album downloads for 100,000 copies sold. :D Same for Utada Hikaru Single Collection Vol. 1. :D

Hanataba wo Kimi ni has also been certified 2X Platinum in Japan for 500,000 digital downloads sold and Michi has been certified Gold for 100,000 digital downloads sold. :

And from the CEO of Universal Music Group, Lucian Grange:

In Japan, the world's second-largest market, we had the top two albums of 2016: Utada Hikaru and RADWIMPS.

Great news!!!
In other words Fantome has sold more than 100,000 digital copies in Japan and less than 250,000 which is the platinum status, but it might be close to this, maybe more than 200,000 digital sales?
I'm sure that she'll reach the platinum status (in digital sales) too!

She slayed this year and will keep doing very well with stable sales!

^ Don't forget that these are certifications for November, i.e. only including sales up until almost 3 weeks ago! The album could very well be at Platinum already.

For sure the song Michi is already Platinum at this point.

She's doing great.

By any serious metric, and as affirmed by Billboard, she had the biggest album of the year, despite what Oricon says. Arashi could release a fart and as long as they release it in enough different versions and attach enough events and extras their fans would get it to a million. Doesn't mean it's an actual phenomenon.

(Having said that, there's no doubt that Arashi is genuinely popular among the mainstream public, unlike some other Johnny's Groups which have a fanbase but NO mainstream support).

'Fantôme' by Hikaru Utada 11,000 / 635,000,

The claimed worldwide sales given by Mediatraffic is a complete Joke

There's no way for this album sold less de 700k

The album is very likely to be at 700k already in Japan alone.

MediaTraffic has always been a bit of a joke, but in this day and age (with streaming factoring in so heavily worldwide) it's practically worthless. It pains me that so many people on here still take it as gospel.

^

What's its total (physical) as of last week in Japan?
I've seen 578k, but I don't know if it's updated.

MT is a week late with Japan. So this week sales will be reflected in their next week's chart.

Besides, I think despite Oricon publishing the digital albums chart for some weeks now they still only use the physical albums data.

I think that this number (635.000) does not include the album's digital sales from the 1st weeks because Oricon started revealing the digital sales about a month after Fantome was released.

@nympho you are right about the total physical sales in Japan. They are around 578.000 as of now.

Fantome - 13th week

#11 (-2) 11,245 physical copies sold
#2 (=) 3,058 digital copies sold

Total sold last week: 14,303 copies

She's doing so well especially in the digital front. I think 3x platinum is near. Can she hit a million?

These are the album's biggest weekly sales since week 7!!! This woman is unstopable!

She can't reach 1,000,000 physical sales, but she might come close with both digital and physical combined.
