#5
LUIS FONSI - Despacito f/Daddy Yankee
Al: 125.140 (-3.114)
Spins: 21577 (-535)

As summer comes to an end and the increasing intolerance people have to this song due to its overplay it's now losing majorly very quick.

Yes, I don't think it will be returning to #1.

It is up 3.5 Billion on youtube now! If it keeps its current pace, it'll hit 4 billion by the end of the month!

Does Portugal even have an official singles chart to begin with? I've never heard of such.

Free falling? Taylor is still way ahead in sales and Spotify. There's still an airplay advantage, but it's not enough to outweigh the other metrics. Despacito won't be returning to #1 unfortunately.

That's so sad about the hurricane :(

I meant on Youtube. But yeah, Despacito might not return to #1 on billboard, but if it returns to #1 on Youtube again, still means a lot, because it's a song so old and the video is more economical than Tay's new video, directed by Joseph Kahn.

You're mistaken.

Portugal has an official Top 100 (sales+streaming)
Czech Republic has an official Top 100 (sales+streaming)
Hungary has two separate charts: Top 40 digital sales and Top 40 streaming.

Despacito's video's success has nothing to do with economy. the reason it became big because it went viral (not that its a bad thing or something).
whereas Taylor's Video's success is mostly because of her fans and a little because of her HATERS
i knew Taylor will knock Fonsi off of iTunes & Spotify
but i didn't expect it to be #1 on Youtube for 2 weeks.
Despacito's gonna remain most viewed video nd gonna be #1 on daily views for a really long time because thats what a viral video does
on Youtube
2012-2013 was all about GANGNAM STYLE
2017 will probably be all about DESPACITO
PS : Im not discrediting the Songs success
but comparing it with regular artist's video is not fair
Grammy for the Album of the Year goes to BEYONCÉ

and now you should probably wake up

As soon as Taylor dethroned it in the US the "Despacito" reign is over now.
Next week it will be out of Top 10 on the radio as it's been free-falling in audience.
It fell off Top 15 on iTunes as well.

Still, it had an impressive chart progression since launch.

Despacito lost its discount, but it's steady in the top 20 now.
It's again the #1 video on Youtube..
4 billion mark on Youtube is on its way. :)

If the Grammys snubs Despacito, I will be really disappointed in them.

Despacito deserves to win Record of the year!!

The Grammy Awards are based on quality over success, If I'm not mistaken. I don't think "Despacito" deserves Song of the Year at all when you have other contenders like Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Imagine Dragons, Lana Del Rey or Lorde.

If reggaetón starts winning Grammy Awards they will lose the little credibility they still have left.

I think it's time to accept the Reggaeton ERA Jey. 8-)
Music change, things change..Like in the 70-80s Rock was the new thing, Reggaeton is the present and has always existed, but now it's evolved..This year the best melodies were created by Reggaeton's producers and that's why the charts don't lie!!
In the UK there are 3 Reggaeton songs in the top 10, in Spain Indie music died, Reggaeton took over Spain's spotify and the most listened artist of the world is Daddy Yankee..What more evidence? without quality, there's no success.
I think the Grammys will lose its prestige if they ignore the music of this generation.

Well, they should be. I don't deny that "Despacito" or reggaetón are really successful, but I refuse to think that a viral song or reggaetón is as good as "Rehab", "Hello", "Stay With Me", "My Heart Will Go On" or "We Are The World".

Barbra Streisand, Beyoncé, Whitney Houston and... Maluma? C' mon.

Anyway, I'm interested on see how far "Despacito" will go on streaming. 2B between the original version and the remix shouldn't be a problem as they are at 1.476B streams (Spotify) and growing 3-4M per day.
