Lovato jumps into the top three while the K-pop boy band re-enters the top 20 for the first time since December.
After a week that saw Demi Lovato celebrate six years of sobriety, she launches 20-3 on the Social 50 dated March 24 with an 83 percent gain in chart points, according to Next Big Sound, while K-pop stars Monsta X re-enter the top 20 due to a tease of its upcoming album.
The Social 50 is powered by data tracked by music analytics company Next Big Sound and ranks the most popular artists on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Wikipedia and Tumblr. The chart's methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views and engagement. The chart’s latest tracking week ended March 15, and BTS is No. 1.
A big driver of Lovato’s gain is the pop star’s 356 percent jump in Instagram reactions. Along with posting photos from her current U.S. tour, Lovato posted a selfie on the service on March 15 announcing her six years of sobriety and that she was launching a contest with CAST on Tour to promote sharing others’ stories of their own recovery.
“A huge part of my recovery was learning to love myself and to give back to others,” she wrote in its caption.
The winner of the contest will be a special speaker at Lovato’s tour stop on March 31 in Tampa.
Below Lovato at No. 18 on the Social 50, Monsta X returns to the top 20 for the first time since December.
The surge back to the chart was driven by social posts from the act teasing its upcoming album The Connect, which drops March 26. The group gained 414 and 153 percent in Instagram and Twitter reactions, respectively, and added 27,000 new Twitter followers.
Monsta X’s previous EP, The Code, was released in November 2017, reaching No. 2 on World Albums.
