Sis, I just said the album had a bad debut but we should wait a couple of months before call it a flop because at least he has the new single on the Today’s Top Hits List, this it it, don’t over think it.
And I agree with @spiritboy, Zayn should have not sign with a major label If he didn’t want to play it big. You cannot participate in a biding war between Columbia, Sony, Universal and Warner and don’t expect you’ll have to promote, tour and do all kind of stuff to make them huge $$$$. He should have keep it small and release music on an indie label.
Zayn might be resentful and bipolar, but something happened to him to lose his motivation.
I remember in 2015 he was so active online, interacted with the fans, performed on the voice, the tonight show, wango tango radio concert.
Zayn was excited, hungry to be a solo artist. He even went to the UK for a greet and meet. He even did rehearsals for the tour, hired a band.
Zayn even said that he wanted to perform dusk till down with Sia in an interview, something that never happened.
In my opinion, what started the war between Sony and Zayn was the delay of the album or moving on too fast from Mind of Mind.
Maybe Zayn felt that Mind of Mind still had more legs and he felt sabotaged. I mean he worked so hard for that album and debuted with 157,000k, with another label this would have been his break through era. “She, ‘fool for you’ ‘Drunk’ were hits.
Seeing the things now, I’m starting to think that Zayn refusing to work is his way to protest against his label, but at the end he is the one who is ruining his chances to succeed.
