https://www.forbes.com/sites/hughmcinty%20...%2068beea72cbAccording to Spotify, Post Malone's beerbongs & bentleys(Republic) has smashed its first-day records for both U.S. (almost 48m) and global (nearly 79m) streams. Tracks from beerbongs occupy nine of the Top 10 spots at Apple Music, meanwhile, and 16 of Top 20. For those of you who remember that old-timey transaction known as a "sale," you'll get a nostalgic kick out of hearing that the album is #1 at iTunes (and #18 with the clean version), and that three of its tracks are in the Top 10 at the download emporium.
Post Malone's New Album Is Eligible For Gold Status ... And It's Not Even Out Yet
While fans still need to hold on a little over a week before they can buy (or more likely stream) Beerbongs & Bentleys in full, the album has already reached an important milestone, and before it’s even been released, it is already on track to earn one of the music industry’s biggest honors. While Malone's latest isn't even out yet, the collection is already eligible to be certified gold in the U.S., and there’s a good chance it will earn that certification in its first week of availability, if not on the actual day it is released. But how is this possible?
“Rockstar,” has certified it five-times platinum for moving five million equivalent units.
Now that the RIAA includes the equivalent units collected by a single featured on a specific album towards the full-length’s own certifications, Beerbongs & Bentleys is already eligible for gold status, as those five million single shipments equal 500,000 equivalent album units, as 10 equivalent single units equals one album units, per the organization's current rules.
In addition to the five million equivalent units “Rockstar” has already moved, another single featured on Beerbongs & Bentleys, “Candy Paint,” has also earned a gold plaque. The record’s most recent promotional cut “Psycho,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100, is likely headed toward either a gold or platinum certification very soon as well, which will only add to the parent album’s impressive total.
